News I heard yesterday on player visits...
Not sure if anyone else heard this, but yesterday I heard on a local sports talk station that the Lions sent their list of pre-draft player visits to every team in the league. Apparently, it is required by NFL rules that every team submit their pre-draft visit list to someone in the NFL (commissioner, union, not really sure) and when the Lions went to do this, they supposedly "hit the wrong button" and it went out to every team in the league. And according to the people on this radio show, this was the second time they did this. Now, I don't know the validity of this claim, and to be honest I can't figure out how it would be even possible for someone to make such an idiotic mistake. Now of course these guys were ripping the Lions, and got the lead nomination in a weekly voting of their "dip of the week." I can't say I disagree a whole lot, but it got me thinking. If that really is true, is it such a big deal? I mean, I know ALL of the pre-draft visits are not listed on this very site, but I'd say a majority of them have been. Especially the big names. So, if a team really wanted to know who was visiting another team, couldn't that info be gathered anyway (granted it would be a little more work)? And besides, who's to say that maybe it wasn't a false list in an effort to create a huge smokescreen?
Head's up all you Fantasy F-ballers out there
First allow me to apologize in advance if this is old news, but Yahoo has their Fantasy Football leagues up & running. This is not a plug for Yahoo, and I suspect that if they are up & running, other sites of your choice may be as well. Out of boredom the other day I thought I'd check and fully did not expect it to be ready this early but was pleasantly surprised. If you like to do the online live draft like I do, then you know how important it is to get a jump on it to get a good draft slot.
I just thought I'd give my extended family here at Rumblings a jump on getting their leagues set up.
Smokescreens, speculation, & the good 'ol boys
In today's NFL offseason, it's easy to be drawn into all of the swirling rumors of this player gettting traded here or there, or this team is interested in this guy, etc, etc. Anyone who has been reading here on Rumblings the last couple months can surely attest to that. This kind of stuff really heats up the closer it gets to draft day, and with other happenings recently with certain players and their off the field conduct it has been especially hot this year. It sure makes for entertaining reading, but at the end of the day it usually ends up being only that.
Having said all this, the Bills' new regime (and most importantly Buddy Nix) have stated from day one what their intentions are for this organization. And as was proven last night with 1st round selection of C.J. Spiller, they have stayed true to their word throughout. To my recollection, they have not said they were going to do something and done something else, or said they were interested in a player only to select someone else. Granted, they haven't been overly informative or vocal, but I'd rather have that than to be openly lied to or steered in the wrong direction. They said that their plan was to select the BPA, and that's what they did. They knew this was going to be a rebuilding process, and until they prove me wrong, I believe they know what they are doing and that what they are doing is best for the long haul of this team. I for one find their down home honesty refreshing. Whether you like the Spiller pick or not, it's hard to argue that they didn't pick the BPA, whereas past regimes have claimed that is what they did when they were clearly reaching (or maybe they were just that poor of talent evaluators). At any rate, I think more will be happy tonight with the second pick. Because even going BPA, with all of the Bills needs surely one will be filled. How can it not? Let's look forward to a great rest of the draft & Go Bills!

Browns - 6 Bills - 3 BLECH!!!!!
That was THE worst excuse of a football performance I've seen in my life. Awful, pathetic, pitiful...There are not enough words in the English language to describe how utterly nauseating that was. I just feel bad for all of those that paid good money for season tickets. Me living in Ohio, I thank God that I will not have a convenient opportunity to watch another Bills game this year. What a waste of 3 hours. I guess most will get there wish and see DJ out the door. But after that terrible ST performance (or lack thereof) I sure hope they are not considering Bobby April as an interim coach.
Go ahead someone - bash me for being negative. But I challenge you to come up with something logically positive about that game while either keeping a straight face or keeping their gag reflex in check. Seriously, can the Bills just consider cleaning house, forfeiting the season and start over next year? I don't see how it would hurt at his point or how it could get any worse.
Preseason - the truth is somewhere in the middle
I've noticed in recent posts, comments, replys, etc. that it seems fans have taken one of two stances regarding the preseason: 1) what the heck is going on with the Bills & why are they so unprepared/terrible, or 2) why is everyone think the sky is falling? Its just the preseason.
I tend to lean more towards the 1st stance because after all this is supposed to be in essence a practice or trial run for the regular season. However, I also understand that since these games do not really matter and the Bills teams have always taken the preseason very lightly why people would argue the second stance. All in all, I find it a very intriguing debate. But, as the title states I personally feel the truth is somewhere in the middle. I don't think that come Mon. night vs. the Pats the Bills are going to be as bad as they've looked recently. However I don't think Dick Jauron has some magical hidden switch he can throw that turns this team into an unstoppable juggernaut either. In fact I find that conspiracy theory notion (that I've read on more than one occasion) quite laughable. I keep having this picture in my head of Dick Jauron dressed as the evil emperor Darth Sidious saying "now witness the power of this fully operational battle station!" Quickly after we see Bill Belicheck dressed as Admiral Ackbar (of course with the hoodie) saying "it's a trap!" Might make for a good pre-game skit for Monday Night Football, eh?
Call me a pessimistic realist, but I see this team going 7-9 again, or maybe 8-8 if they get lucky (when's the last time that happened to the Bills?) with a few flashes of brilliance here & there, they miss the playoffs, DJ and a few others get fired, and the rebuilding process starts once again.
Thoughts are welcome.
