Niemann's BR Page

What would it take to pry Jeff Niemann from the Rays? They seem to have a shortage of slots in the starting rotation and Niemann is out of options. Would they take someone like Guiterrez or Duffy? Would we be willing to make that trade? He looks to be a pretty solid bet to be at least a middle of the rotation type pitcher and would be under team control for 6 years. This would also allow Tampa to stock their lower minor league system while only losing a seemingly spare part.

Daniel Cabrera?

Why not sign Daniel Cabrera? He was just nontendered by Baltimore. He throws hard, he is right handed....hmm...I wonder what a hard throwing right hander with bad performance is worth on the open market...

Id much rather take a chance on Cabreras bad performance and hard throwing than throwing away $5 million/yr on Farnsworth. Even with the Farnsworth deal done, I'd like to take a chance to see what McClure could do with Cabrera and his immense ability.

it seems like half of this board thinks that John Buck is one of the main reasons that we still suck....however, going by win shares, he's been the 3rd most valuable catcher in the AL and SHOULD be a borderline all-star, even though he wont be mentioned.

Brandon Wood

What is Brandon Woods value to the Angels at this point? Do you all think they're willing to trade him? If so, at what cost? Would Carlos Rosa or Dan Cortes be enough? What if the Royals threw in a reliever such as a Ron Mahay? Wood seems to be blocked in Anaheim so it almost seems like they need to trade him and God knows the Royals desperately need a real shortstop. Thoughts?

Solution to TPJ problem--Brandon Wood

The Royals NEED to trade for Brandon Wood. He's young, blocked in Anaheim. He'd immediately help to solve the Royals' power/TPJ issues. Here are his numbers

http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/W/Brandon-Wood-1.shtml

He was considered a top 5 prospect after his outstanding 2005 season. While his stock and numbers have fallen since then, he still profiles out to be a good major league shortstop. What would it take to acquire him? Would Rosa or Cortes do it? Would we have to send them multiple players? I dont think they have any need for any of our position players. I wouldnt mind sending them a Mahay or Gobble + Pitching prospect....am i way off base here? Would Wood be a good idea?

Moustakas turning a corner?

So, Moustakas hit another homer tonite...making 3 in the last 4 games. He now has 3 straight 2 hit games and has 3 homers and 2 steals in that time. His line for the season is now 221/277/346...up immensely from a week ago. My question is, what will we do with him? 3b? 2b? 1b? LF? We seem to be set at 3rd with Gordo and at 2nd with Callaspo. At first, it would seem to be a huge waste of a great arm for either Gordon or Moustakas. Regardless, we'll find a spot for him if his bat lives up to the potential.
