Denver Stiffs It is Time

I am pretty sure that I am not the only one, but who else is pretty damn excited that George Karl has not been offered a multi-year contract to stay with this team in the future?  I am elated.  Though this may sound pretty messed up, I am actually a little happy that the Nuggets are losing now, when George is expecting a contract for all of the "hard work" he has done in solidifying the Nuggets as a legitimate contender in the league, though that was all Chauncey. Hopefully this will be a serious kick in the pants for Karl to get his chunky ass off of the bench and call timeouts when the time appropriates for it.  Some examples from the Nugs-Mavs game: Anyone else notice that Chauncey was the one in the middle of many huddles and doing most of the coaching during the timeouts?  Also, when there were free throws, he would pull aside some players and instruct them.  Correct me if I am wrong, but I haven't seen George do that since circa 2005.  Why?  Can we please tell George to stay home like the Rockets did to T-Mac and let Adrian Dantley get a crack at doing some coaching?  It seems like he actually knows what he is talking about and cares about the direction of the team.  I remember a game against the Lakers in 2007, a game that they really needed to make the playoffs, that AD coached and they responded so well to him, only allowing the Lakers to like 14 points in the 4th and Kobe to like only 4.  He was getting off of the bench and telling guys where to go and the players were actually listening to him in team huddles.  AD was doing this during the time the Nuggets had probably the most volatile team in the league.  I truly hope AD can coach some games, and with Chauncey as his floor general, I really think some magic can be made with this team with a sense of rejuvenation and spirited team basketball.  What do you guys think? PS: Sorry for the extremely long rant.  I just really needed to vent with people who really care about Nuggets basketball.  Out here in DC, it is hard to even see a basketball or a football fan since both of those teams here lose games quicker than a bucket of chicken vanishes in front of Oprah.  I'm out.

Denver Stiffs Karl and The New Deal

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/rumors/post/Karl-and-Nuggets-millions-apart-on-contract-exte;_ylt=AqhPVxW5UElhhzR4lbXbPWm8vLYF?urn=nba,210550

It seems as if the Nuggets and George Karl are not seeing eye to eye on how much the extension should be per year.  Supposedly, Karl wants more than the approximately 3 million the Nuggets are offering him right now, and about 11 mil over the course of three years.  Most of the coaches make something in the 4 mil range and Karl wants at least that much.  What do you guys think?  Does he deserve that much, more, or less?  Sound off on the comments.

Denver Stiffs Another One

The loss to the Grizzlies is yet another loss in the disturbing category.  It is another loss to a team that we didn't lose AT ALL to last year.  I remember making this comment after the loss against the Bobcats, thinking it would be a wake up call.  Sadly, I was mistaken.  Add this one to the sad list of losses against the Clippers, T'wolves, Heat, Bobcats, and now the Grizzlies.  But on the other hand, we are now below .500 on the road, and George should try and do something to get us back up to that mark.  These terrible starts are doing us in pretty badly, and it seems like George is not motivating the team enough to start the game.  Does he start eating his cough drops before the games now?  Anyway, I think a great coach that fits our needs is Avery Johnson.  He is a fiery, no nonsense kind of coach that seems to give his team a real kick in the pants.  I always took the side of George before thinking that he would be smart enough to adjust problems after a bad game, but now i just seems like he doesn't care, making excuses and blaming the players or the start time of the game even when it is obvious that his questionable lineups and relaxing on the bench are to blame. There's a tough stretch coming up in the games, and we really need a renewed effort, and it all starts with the mindset of the coach.  Hopefully George sees that and turns in to the George of old, yelling at everyone he sees.  What do you guys think?
