My name isn't billy, but you can call me that anyway if you like. The name came out of a stupid joke about Cthulhu's estranged redneck son.
I have an esteemed MA from the University of Alabama. Unfortunately, it's in Anthropology. Anyone hiring?

I sorely missed my Monday Morning WIN today, so I thought I'd throw this out there.
Every Team In NFL Calls Bengals To Let Them Know They Don't Want Carson Palmer
Since we're in need of a QB I figured this was relevant to the discussion.
Bowl Pick'em?
Well, the yahoo pick'em seems to be done along with the regular season. Looking forward to bammer's overview, but suffice it to say I didn't do as well as I hoped I would. Anyway, I noticed there is a bowl pick'em on the same website. As Alabama gets the chance to basically play an exhibition and try to put in an impressive performance to end a mildly disappointing season in a positive fashion, I figure we too may have the chance to redeem some of our regular season failings (I'm not sure if I got a single Notre Dame game correct...).
I figured I'd just see what the interest level would be, though I'm happy to defer to bammer in making the group once the time comes.
Updates on Alabama Players in the NFL
I found myself wondering if there was anything new on the Alabama players drafted this year into the NFL today, so I decided to look it up and make a fanpost on the subject.
We all know where Rolando McClain is, and he seems to be doing alright. He's starting for the Oakland Raiders, and though he wasn't able to do much to stop Vince Young and Chris Johnson of the Tennessee Titans in week 1, it looks as though he won't be alone in that regard. How about some of the other players from last year's squad?
For starters, there's Terrence Cody. Despite some negative attention for his weight, he was drafted fairly early by the Baltimore Ravens, and looks to be a real contributor to the team this year. Unfortunately, he will be getting off to a late start as he underwent knee surgery, so he will be out for tonight's game, and probably next week's as well.
It's a boy!!!!
Mark Ingram's grandfather passes away
'After suffering a heart attack, Arthur "Art" Johnson, 75, died at McLaren Regional Medical Center in Flint.'
Sad news.
USA vs Slovenia
I guess I'll start a thread for the second half - maybe I'm not the only one watching this dreadful game. We need to wake up out there. The first goal was frustrating enough, but that second one just really pissed me off, especially after that ridiculous hand face-ball yellow card. Think we can get back in to this one? Maybe they need Nick Saban to come in and give them a halftime speech.
Nashville Underwater
I know this hasn't gotten a lot of media attention because of all the news on the oil spill in the gulf coast, but I figured since we have fans all over the place and people might have family in the area, I'd just post a little on some really bad flooding going on in Nashville right now.

All Sports To Cease So Skip Bayless Has Nothing To Talk About
'"Will we miss football? Of course we will," said NFL Players Association president Kevin Mawae, who confirmed that professional football players would join all other pro athletes in turning in their uniforms and shredding their playbooks by May 1. "It's all most of us know. But for a long time now, there's been a feeling that football wasn't worth playing as long as Skip Bayless was able to take these ridiculously adversarial devil's-advocate stances purely to rile up viewers and get attention. It's better this way."'
This would have been a different game if Colt McCoy hadn't got hurt :)
From Jim Dunaway's Twitter. I thought this might make Kleph happy
ed.- to be clear, this was referencing last night's Duke/Butler game. Also, Jim Dunaway is awesome.
Quiet Mark Barron becoming a vocal leader for Alabama's secondary
"I'm very pleased with Mark Barron," Alabama coach Nick Saban said. "He's kind of taken the bull by the horns a little bit."
I like the sound of this.
SEC commish Mike Slive weighs in on the bye week issue for Alabama
"In a recent meeting of our athletic directors," Slive wrote, "it was agreed to add a scheduling principal to make every effort to have no more than three of four open dates before conference games, if at all possible, beginning with the 2012 schedule, which begins the next 10-year scheduling cycle. In the meantime, the conference is making every effort to see if changes can be made in the 2010-11 schedules to reduce the number of open dates before games with Alabama."
Obviously "making every effort" is no guarantee, but it seems at least something is being done here.
UAH Shooting Suspect Shot Her Brother in 1986
Amy Bishop Anderson, who was then known as Amy Bishop, was never charged in her brother's death, Braintree, Massachusetts, Police Chief Paul Frazier told reporters. Police records detailing the 1986 incident are missing, and a log of the incident lists it as an accidental shooting, he said.
Wow... this just gets more and more bizarre... I don't really know how to wrap my brain around this.
