Canal Street Chronicles 5 Players who need to step up their play this season

Let me begin by saying that the goal of all 32 teams every year is to win the Super Bowl and you cannot do that without having great players and the saints do.  So my post is not about making any of our players look bad.

History tells us that most Super Bowl champs won’t repeat.  So as we near the start of the season who do the saints need to step up their games so we can make sure we go  from shouting WHO DAT to TWO DAT!!!!!!!!!!

Sedrick Ellis - The saints drafted Ellis in the  first round with visions of  him eventually becoming a dominant force in the middle while Ellis is only 25 years old and still has time become a force he hasn’t been able to stay healthy which has slowed his development. While the shaky run defense is not all his fault we still need a healthy 16 games from him this year.  C’mon Big Sed step it up!

Malcolm Jenkins –Jenk has had his up and downs but overall has been a good addition to the saints secondary.  He is on my list not so much because he has been a bad player but filling Sharper's shoes after the year he had would be a tough thing for any player to do.  SOOOOO! Jenk C’mon man step it up.

Reggie Bush-So much has already been written about Reggie over the years that I don’t need to say much about him except hopefully he can stay healthy and  run hard inside period. Maybe the  possibility of losing his Heisman will be his motivation. I am fine with Reggie's role but wouldn't you love to see you have a year like 2006??  16 games, 565 yards rushing, 88 catches 742 receiving.  C’mon Reggie man step it up earn that 8 million!

Jermon Bushrod-Bushrod did a great job and only really looked bad against a few elite DEs.  Hopefully he doesn’t regress this year.  C’mon man step it up.

Roman Harper- I considerd changing things up and  inserting a coach here because Gregg Williams will have to do an even better jobs with his schemes this year with all the injures affecting the defense.  However, Harper needs to step up his pass coverage this year. Harper is strong against the run but average or below average in the passing game its unlikely to change after being here for 4 years and still not getting better in that area  but with Jenk taking over for Sharper for now  and it would be nice if Harper could step it up. Can he?

So what saints need to step it up in 2010-11?

Canal Street Chronicles In the immortal words of Herm Edwards, "You play to win the game". He didn't say you play to talk about it for months after!

Hi guys,

This is my first Fanpost,

Well folks as we get closer to Sept. 9th the war of words between saints fans and vikings fans is beginning to heat up once again.  I believe by next week the gloves will probably come completely off if they have not already and the smack talk will be like a ticking time bomb up until game time.  I, myself love to talk smack but I do not condone personal attacks on other members, their family or any circumstance that we all can agree should be off limits. I know some will say whatever they want and I believe in their right to say it.  With, all that being said....

The question I have for Vikings fans is where is the pride in your team?  I see that you guys love your Vikings as we love our saints but so much so that for 7 months you had to call saints fans and saints players cheats, cheap shot artists, and overall a lower class of a life.

I believe Vikings fans  have lowered the actual players to a bunch of victims. The Vikings are an excellent football team.  They don’t need to complain about "illegal hits" and "we were the better team".  Bottom line is like Herm said " You play to win the game", not whine for 7 months about losing it.

I understand saints fans have been waving the Lombardi trophy in Vikings fan faces for a while and also some members of both fan bases have crossed the line at times.   I am a long suffering saints fan and a sports fan in general I understand the Vikings fans love for their team who in 50 years has never won the big game but to still be crying foul says you don’t believe your team can do it this year right?

Even the head coach is still talking about "illegal hits".  It is sad it’s an environment that makes it ok to be a sore loser.  It’s an environment  where being a cry baby is supported instead of being banished.  It’s a losing environment.  Saints fan know all about it.  Football is like life you win some you lose some along the way some things are fair some are not but the more time you spend complaining about it the less you can enjoy the ride.

Lets all have a little more pride for our teams, especially the Vikings fans stop painting your team as being  treated unfairly and how about painting as a good team that just didn’t get it done.  I have read so many posts about “illegal hits” “X marks the spot” “Hurricane Brett” “The best team lost” The saints were out gained and out played” “Still the aints”  "classless" "Sh***y  Dirty City" .  Blah, Blah, Blah so on and so forth.

Maybe its because of the fact that we can all hide behind a computer screen that makes it easier to keep crying bloody murder, but I am begging for an answer When did it become ok for the toughest most brutal sport  to have the biggest cry babies for fans?

Bottom line

Let’s get back to arguing X’s and O’s not wins and losses.

The Buddha say ,"that which we think about we become'.  So if your always thinking about how you lost the game that might make you a loser.  Maybe, maybe not...lol
