nice read, a few new things, great insight into a great coach

edit: don't even read the stuff about "some administrators" and the he said she said. read the rest of it - which has an interesting insight.

his request seems very logical to me, but I am way biased.

Double-T Nation Welker - Simply the Best

Just had to sing the praises of one Wes Welker. Last night he tied the NFL record for the longest touchdown reception. Earlier in the game he scored on another Tom Brady pass near the goal line. Wes is no doubt the poster child for the ten years that Tech did not play football. Constantly the overachiever and greatly overlooked, Wes's heart and commitment to excellence made him the standout in the Big 12 as well as at Miami and New England in the NFL. An undrafted free agent at the end of his Red Raider career, Wes became a record setting return man for Miami where he caught the eye of the Patriots. Overcoming an almost career ending injury two years ago in record time, it was sweet justice to watch him stiff-arm the Dolphins and run that 99.5 yards. Attaboy Wes. You are now officially the greatest player EVER in Tech history. (so far)

Double-T Nation And now back to a little football talk...

I hate to bring this up with all the talk of realignment, who's going east, who's going west, but I took another look at the stats from the game last week and saw something that was really disturbing. I may be making too much out of it, but our backfield only had 8 yards receiving. Eight yards! I threw up further than that at the post game tailgate. I know we ran a lot of two back sets, and I know that Doege had a good deal of time in the pocket (for the most part), but I would think that getting our backs into space on the edge would be a good thing. Am I missing something here?

Double-T Nation Harrell leads Pack on final two drives.....beats the Colts

Ok, I don't have the stats, but Graham Harrell, after getting picked and giving up a late touchdown to the Colts, successfully lead two drives that gave the Green Bay Packers the win over the Colts.  His next to the last drive resulted in a touchdown pass from Harrell (I believe his first of the seasn).  They then went for two, where Harrell complete a quick slant.  Green Bay went for the onside kick, got it and the Graham moved the ball within field goal range for the win.   Congrats..

Double-T Nation Random thoughts from Blackbeard

With the intense rays of summer quickly beginning to fade, the return of little rush girls to campus, and the smell of ripe locker rooms in the air, I am compelled to reach out to the DTN brother and sisterhood and just get a few things off my mind..... 1. I miss those days when you did not have to get permission from the attendance nazis to leave the stadium. 2. Where has littlelonghorn girl gone? is she working for the "network" now? shame. 3. SEC aggies are really stupid.............just sayin 4. enjoyed a very good time with the Norman brothers, Big Fred and KWash when the Captain was in town...........by the way he looks very much at ease in his current situation. 5. I really hope Billy Clyde will be good for Tech...I think he will win, but at what cost? 6. Did you every notice how much kent hance and a dog turd resemble each other (no offense to the turd). 7. sure wish my office network would allow me to watch the most amzaing pregame video ever... 8. I'm really glad that myers retired...wish hance would join him. 9. fuck texas 10. there needs to be more affordable parking for games at the Jones 11. I lke calling it "the Jones" 12. Leach never lost to Iowa State.....ever 13. Black uniforms are my favorite 14. I remember one pregame I was down by the player's ramp when Rex Richards came onto the field. He had his "game face" on looking very stern. I yelled out to him and he took his helmet off, smiled and then chatted with me for about 5 minutes.....good times. 15. One day soon, oldschool, kwash, londonraider, SARR, and tarabeth will have a beer or 12 together. and finally, fuck texas.

Double-T Nation Speaking of hance, here is a great read from Corn Nation

No better way to start your day than with the farm report.

http://www.cornnation.com/2011/5/10/2163094/the-2011-manure-expo-and-why-you-dont-want-to-miss-it

hats off to Corn Nation.  I'm actually sorry that the Big Red Machine of College Football is moving to the big ten.   Realizing that Bebe's XII can't touch the cash that the big ten generates, I still hate to see the Huskers leave.....good people

Double-T Nation MVPs 2010

Now that the regualr season is over and we have put up the white helmets for the year, I would like to pay homage to a couple of seniors that have worked their asses off, played hard, and played very well all four years they were allowed on the field.  On defense, a giant hat tip to Colby Whitlock.  Colby has anchored a defense riddled with injory and full of less experienced players.  He kept his head up and his butt down and just worked to get his job done.  Well done Colby.  My favorite play was his tackle in the ut game to get us a game leading safety.

On offense the MVP of this bunch of seniors has to be Lyle Leong.  With hands like glue, the accrobatic senior made catch after catch.  His knack of getting open, creating separation, elevating at the right moment was a pleasure to watch.  While not he biggest knife in the drawer, his blocking skills improved year after year.  HIs catch in the Alamo Bowl where he seemed to get 6 or 7 feet off the ground was a thing of beauty.

Gonna miss you guys.  God's speed.

Why don't we just call it what it is, the Longhorn conference. Once again, ut writes the rules for the rest to follow. However, I must say that this is what a REAL AD does, while ours.........well...........not sure if he does anything unless he is told to.

The Miami Dolphins, after a dismal "special teams" showing Monday night took action..............its called walking the talk. Say what you want about the difference between NFL and NCAA, but bottom line they are both businesses. Good businesses clean house when things are not successful.

Double-T Nation Truly Amazing - On the South Plains

I just ran across a story on one of daily blogs that I read that is truly amazing.  It seems that the  father of Zack Thomas has amassed the largest free-standing cross in the nation.  Made of steel and lighted..........you gotta read about this at
http://home.swbell.net/rwpassmo/cross.htm

You know there are a lot of things associated with Texas Tech, the NFL and all, but when a family takes the time and effort to witness to our Lord and Savior it gives me pause.  It is no wonder that Zack is such a role model for all who love sports.  Thank you

Double-T Nation Spring game Tailgate - Part Deux

Again, Doc, from the DTN, we thank you for hosting the upcoming tailgate at/near the Jones.  I believe all who plan to attend look forward to meeting, drinking, and stuff.  Just wanted to remind everyone to please bring something to help out.

Doc had mentioned cups, plates, etc.  Ice can be a premium.  Beer is never wasted.

Also, if anyone has wireless on their laptop so we can pull up the pre-game video..........that would be sweet.

See ya'll there.
