2012 World Indoor Championships: A Retrospective
Now with ∞% more embedded videos!
I'll apologize ahead of time that the embedded videos all require Microsoft Silverlight. Trust me, I hate it more than you do. If you don't have it, I'm sure there's a download link somewhere.
http://www.microsoft.com/silverlight/
Unfortunately for track fans, NBC has made Silverlight a necessary evil to see any of their replayed events.
Personally, I think it is pretty impressive that Microsoft was able to design something so evil without direct input from Hitler and Satan.

2012 IAAF World Indoor Championships Preview
Ed: bumped for usefulness/general awesome.
Howdy!
I noticed no one else had done this so, why the hell not me?
I'm shooting for a pretty broad audience here, so don't expect any kind of in depth analysis here, just trying to hit a few highlights of what's worth watching for the next few days.
I'm just going to do a few events for now. If you guys are interested, lemme know and I'll do some more.

Delmon Young to replace Ordonez on ALCS roster
So, there ya go.
Simpsons Episode Tournament Mini Round 2
All right, 64 at once was a bit much, lets go for 16 at a time & I'll update every day or so
Trying to squeeze this in before the season started. I picked the 64 best episodes I could while trying to spread them out over as many seasons as I could, but let's face it, the older ones were better. I used the names of the episodes according to wikipedia, so if you don't remember one, a quick copy & paste should fix ya right up. I don't have the desire or wherewithal to make a fancy bracket, but I randomly seeded them. Post your winners from each matchup & I'll tally them up.
As an aside, this was a real bitch to narrow it down to 64. Had to boot some good ones.

Lone Star Ball Lynch Mob Rd. 3 (cont.)
We all know that the best way to vent about the recent Cliff Lee happenings is through violence. Well, we can't do that, but we can do the next best thing, which is imaginary violence.
In this hypothetical, the LSB mob is fully assembled, and we're taking a vote on who gets it next. This is Texas, and around here we understand that some people just need killin'.
I know what you're thinking. How did my name get on the list?
Well you qualified under at least one of the following criteria:
1.) I know people hate you
2.) You have been on the site long enough or have been posting enough lately that everyone should know who you are
3.) I remember you saying something particularly stupid
4.) You were a name I selected at random just so I can see how long it takes the mob to turn it's fury on the anonymous
Also, I threw in my name as a sign of good faith.
FWIW, I tried to get a good cross section of assholes and non-assholes, but let's face it. Most of us are assholes.
I'll update the list nightly until we get tired of this, or until I'm forced to take it down.

About half of the mob felt that its bloodlust was quenched after taking out Josey and dispersed. But, the rest of us have some serious misplaced abandonment issues thanks to Clifton Phifer. Our pitchforks had developed a taste for human blood, and Sharky was reduced to chum.
#1 Josey Wales
#2 Sharky
Notables in Round 1:
2 people want to kill Adam
There was a surprising amount of support for "the Dirkatron," which was most likely an attempted preemptive strike to avoid hate pearing.
More people wanted to kill Lisa (the only female candidate) than wanted to kill miles.
No one wants to kill the Ghost of Erik Thompson. Or, since he is a ghost, do they just assume he's already dead?
2 people wanted to slaughter the poor, innocent, Todmod.
Top 5 receiving votes - Josey 80+, brettgardner 23, sharky 14, the Dirkatron - 9, LSJ - 6
Notables in Round 2
2 people still want to kill Adam
brettgardner was likely saved by an accounting error. Sharky "won" by 3 votes, but 7 votes were logged before I realized I had left brett off the list. At least one of those was confirmed to have been a would be brettgardner vote.So close to a double kill. :(
No innocent random names were targeted
Even with fewer voters, LSJ managed to score more votes. Emomentum?
Top 5 receiving votes - Sharky 18, brettgardner 15, the Dirkatron 8, LSJ 8, Rangers100 5
Round 3 comment section was getting crowded, so I'll just add the vote totals together at the end. Feel free to vote twice, it makes us look even more angry.
Without further ado, listen to the parrot

Adenhart Verdict

Sentence will be 50 years to life
my tiff with ballpark security last night
i guess i'll start by saying we have had season tickets for 30+ years and i have never had this happen before. anyhoo, last night the usher came down and told me that i was not allowed to say that the players on the other team "sucked" because the ballpark was a family place. i'll add that the only children still there at the end of the game were behind me and their parents thought that was as ridiculous as i did. well, i kindly told her that i understood her request, but i was going to cheer on my team and if she needed to kick me out then fine. well one michael young flailing later, security came down and told me if i said the word "suck" one more time i was going to be escorted out. i asked if they thought that someone would be kicked out of wrigley or fenway for saying the word "suck," and i was told that this wasnt wrigley or fenway, but a family place where the word "suck" isnt allowed. i asked if they would prefer that i do the wave. i dont think they got what i was going for there.
in the interest of full disclosure, after initially being told to refrain from saying "suck" i yelled the following toward the field:
"sir, you are below average"
"i hear tell your credit score is below 600 sir"
"that was a sub-par effort"
so maybe the usher was just pissed at me. regardless i thought the whole thing was pretty god damned ridiculous. it's like they dont even want us to be good fans.
