SnakeBytes 3/30: Spring Break Over

And with that, the D-backs strange Spring Training is over. Position battles were won and lost, injuries happened, but regardless the team must rebound and start the long trek of 160 games.

Spring Training: The Losers

Every year as our favorite players return to action in Spring Training, some will succeed and some will struggle and get us all worked up over nothing like Martin Prado's .517 OPS last year. Here's...

As a way to advance through the minors faster, the D-backs have decided to convert Trahan from a catcher to an outfielder. Look for him to now explode through as the bat will be his main focus from now on.

D-backs on here twice. Could've been 3 or even 4 depending on how much you like Holmberg.

Dbacks Extension Candidates

With the acquisition of Mark Trumbo from the Angels and an increasing payroll this year and beyond, the Dbacks would be wise to lock up some of their young players below arbitration cost. With...

Dbacks close to signing Hudson, Blanco

"The club and right-hander Daniel Hudson are believed to be close to agreeing to a new contract. Hudson, who was non-tendered last week, is believed to be seeking a deal that would include a 40-man roster spot. He is likely to miss most, if not all, of next season as he recovers from his second Tommy John elbow surgery. The club is expected to sign catcher Henry Blanco to a minor-league contract with an invite to big-league camp. Blanco will have a chance to compete for the backup catcher’s role. An announcement on the three players to be named later from the Diamondbacks’ two recent trades could come as soon as today. They’re expected to receive one player each from the Tampa Bay Rays, Los Angeles Angels and Chicago White Sox. None of the players the club was expecting to receive were selected in the Rule 5 draft, Towers said."

Hudson Non-Tendered per source

Dbacks can still negotiate contract with him, which I have no doubt they will.

George Kottaras DFA'd from Royals; Potential D-backs Backstop?

With a .749 OPS against lefties over his career while providing average defense, he would be an upgrade over Tuffy Gosewisch and could be a starter in a pinch. He is a super-two, which means he has 2 more years of arbitration left. MLBTradeRumors has predicted a salary of 1.2 million for next year.
