Getting your name on The Cup
so what 'qualifies' players to get their name etched in eternity onto the stanley cup? obviously your team has to win it, but what if you're a rookie who got brought up as an injury replacement and barely played in the regular season, ala justin abdelkader? he played only 2 games in the regular season, and 10 in the post season, and played a pretty big factor in the first 2 games of this series. the red wings have a few guys that only played a handful of reg. season games besides abdelkader - helm, leino, ericsson, even chelios.
so my question is, do these players get their name on the cup IF the wings finish it? or is there a certain amount of games you have to play in the regular season to qualify?
same question on the penguins side for guys like godard, who played most of the regular season, none in the playoffs, and some of those in season call-ups from wilkes-barre?
Music at the Igloo
does anyone else notice how awesome the music at the igloo is? especially compared to most of the other nhl arenas? i've always thought that the music played between whistles there was awesome, but i've noticed it even more during these playoffs. the pens opened the game 3 faceoff of this series against the wings rocking out to slayer. man that just gets me all jacked up for the game. i wonder if it's the same for the players, or if they even notice. i keep hearing killswitch engage's cover of dio's 'holy diver' on occasion too. who else plays killswitch during games?! they also threw in some sweet old metallica in there too. it's just so nice to hear a break from the regular arena music that's shoved down our throats everywhere else (pink, gwen stefani, kelly clarkson, village people, etc.). i don't know about you guys, but nothing says hockey like gwen effin' stefani.
Jersey Question
does anyone know why the dolphins wear their white jerseys like 85% of the time, rather then the teal jerseys? i've been noticing it more and more the last couple years and i can't figure out why, other than it being a team preference. i always kinda thought the road team wears the whites, and the home team wears the colors, but it seems like the dolphins are wearing the whites waaaaaay more than they do the colors. thoughts?
