Blazer's Edge Has this ever happened before?

I was talking to my wife about the fact that only 3 seasons ago we had a top 3 SG, one of the best PF's in the league, and the promise and hope of a dominate Greg Oden. Even if he was injured, we believed! Now i know teams rise and fall all the time, look at the Clippers but has any team EVER been subject to such devistating injuries to such key people(multiple players) that it completely altered the fate of said team? Has this ever happened?

Blazer's Edge Thank you Joel

So we just got the Vanilla Gorilla back! Awsome. Honestly can not remember being this happy over signing a guy who is really not anywhere near a premier player. But as we all know Joel Brings what we need, toughness, defense, rebounding. Also we have another desperately needed big to throw in the mix. No offense Kurt Thomas, but you are a center in the east and a undersized power forward in the west.

Blazer's Edge How much would YOU pay for hope?

Ok so the world has ended, Roy done, Oden out yet another year, and on the same day " The Portland Trail Blazers and Greg Oden agreed to a restructured one-year contract " I say to myself, Huh?

Blazer's Edge Reasons why NOT having a season would be good.

Let me start off by saying i am not in favor of cancelling the upcoming season but it sure is looking likely. So in an attempt to put a positive light on the issue here are my reasons why NOT having a season would be good. Oh, also this only pertains to our team, i care not for others.

Blazer's Edge The 21...i mean 26 year old rookie

Don't know if anyone has seen this http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/06/24/21-year-old-timberwolves-draft-pick-ngombo-is-actually-26/ I believe we picked him up didn't we?

Blazer's Edge Shaq's farewell, yet another stinging Oden reminder for me

19 years and the best footwork of any 325lb person in the history of man. So long Shaq. Remember back in 2007after we drafted Oden and just around the time he was having issues with not his knees, or wrist or any of the like. No folks, remember it was his tonsils. The 2007 Espys Shaq called Oden out saying "he'll see him real soon" Just the idea of those days, jokes of stay home and rest those tonsils, etc. Happy thoughts of Shaq and Oden battling. Of course Shaq i'm sure would get the best of him i thought but to have someone to go at him ala Sabas in the day was all i wanted.

Blazer's Edge Our awsome new GM (edited version)

Edit/ Disclaimer: posted before the Wallace trade.

Let me start by saying i was a huge fan of K.P. Cho i felt like i felt about Obama, not the guy i would prefer but lord i hope he just does a good job and helps us out a bit. I don't really feel like Cho has done anything, at all. Some will say that he is being patient and looking for the right deal others say the He and Paul Allen arent seeing eye to eye. Horse pucky. Lets look at things, there was a ton of people wanting us to make a move once Roy went down......we did not. We will look to see if this was the right call in the coming months, Roy comes back to form- good call, He doesnt- bad call. There was talk about possably trading Roy, it was said his contract was "unmovable", Didnt THE unmovable of all unmovable contracts get delt to the Cavs? Yes it did, the clippers G.M. was able to pull that off, ill say that again.....CLIPPERS.

Blazer's Edge Jason Williams anyone?

Just saw today that Jason Williams was cut by Orlando. Got me wondering what you guys think of possably signing him to help at the point. Link for the record: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=6062520 Patty was playing well but is still very young and it seems lately that Nate has lost some faith, I.E. Rudy running the point etc. Williams is no savior but he is a veteran PG with some skill.

Blazer's Edge 'Dre Madness!!!

On the heels of tons of Andre Miller trade rumors i felt like i needed help from the Bedge community in understanding just what the heck people are thinking regarding trading Miller. Let me offer a few clafifying questions, Who is our most reliable back court player? Miller. Who is playing in top form right now? Miller, Mathews, LMA, Camby. Who makes the offense go when so often it has stalled? Miller.

Blazer's Edge Take a deep breath people

Ok, so i felt an overwhelming urge to address this. Reading over the last few fanposts i could not help but notice a patern of disapointment and sadness. Really people? I mean seriously.....stop.....take a deep breath and realize what is happening. Roy is banged up, Oden is lost for good it seems like, and we are 8-8. End of the world? NO! Does it suck? YES! But talk of "hopping on another bandwagon" or a "plan b" seems a bit extreme and even mello-dramatic.

Blazer's Edge Restricted FA for Oden?

I keep hearing and reading the talk about Oden, the posts along the side convey the overall feel it seems. Questions and shock and what might be's. I truthfully thought i had an issue with my Internet when i saw it. "how is this way old headline of Greg on my computer" i said to myself. Then i looked closer, realized it was real and felt like i got kicked in the stomach. Dave's front page post could not have described the situation better.

Blazer's Edge Fire the training staff!!!

I have NEVER bought into the conspiracy theories that the training staff is negligent, incompetent, or otherwise faulty. We all now know Greg is done for yet another year, 82 games in 4 years now. 1 years played games in four, ouch.

Blazer's Edge Josh Smith to be traded?

So i read that Josh smith might get traded by the February deadline due to financial reasons and wondered........in theory.....it would most likely be a three way type deal....would you guys trade LMA for Josh Smith? Make up your own scenario but let me be specific, i am not talking whole sale make over here. Simply something like Smith to portland, LMA to random team that wants him, this team would also ship out a RLEC type player, who would then go to ATL.

Blazer's Edge Is Camby over-valued by us?

First off let me say if anyone is guilty of a little to much Camby love its me, love the guys game, professionalism, demeanor, etc. I ask this because i started thinking, do we over-value him or is our love justified? Dont remember the Knicks fans being so rabid in there love for the guy,nor the nuggets(who he won a DPOY with)nor the Clippers. I'm a die hard blazer fan and as such i know little about the favorite players of other franchises but Camby will undoubtedly go down as a favorite around here and in less than a full season.

Blazer's Edge Give me the "W"...i dont care about stats

Ok disclaimer: if i could have a bromance with anyone, Marcus Camby would be him. I am not ashamed to admit that. Hahaha! The win tonight was a game that should have been won and was. There were alot of things i like about this game and a few i didn't. But this isn't about that.

Blazer's Edge Why do we know where Joel is at(health wise) and no word of Oden

First off, thank you Ben for the Joel update on the front page. That in turn got me wondering, outside of the random mention here and there about Oden being with the team, or on the bench, or going one on one, there is "still no time table" for his return. I tend to consider myself fairly knowledgeable about the news regarding the team and it seems from my point of view that in a nutt shell.....Camby is simply resting and not "injured" just "hurt." Joel, well we know his progress. Oden, ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????, and a few more?????????? for effect.

Blazer's Edge I actually agree with Charles Barkley!!! No way!!

So i was reading through hoopsworld and the front page says "Charles Barkley sounds off!" To which i cringe and say to myself "what sort of crap came oozing out the dude's mouth this time?" I loved the round mound as a player, as a man i am not so much of a fan. From his infamous rated R "reason" for speeding that he gave to the officer who pulled him over a few years back to his god awful.....for lack of a better word.....insight during TNT games i can't really stand the guy.

Blazer's Edge This ain't your daddies' NBA

Melo this and Melo that, glad to see him going east. I was reading an article that eluded that Melo is unsure of a trade to the Nets and prefers the Bulls because Rose, Boozer and himself would be a better team than the Nets. While i get this train of thought in some ways i was left wondering......Where did the competitive drive in elite NBA players go? Like Jordan said when he addressed the Lebron thing, he never wanted to join Magic or Bird he wanted to beat them. Also the fact he wasn't interested in coming here(thank god by the way) tells me something more, it says to me he wants a high profile city to live in before he thinks about a talented team. Portland is more talented than New York and New Jersey combined and in my opinion better talent overall than Chi-town. If i was Melo i would live in a high profile city once i retired......with 8 rings because i signed with a talented team.

Blazer's Edge My own personal "snap back to reality"

I must admit i have induldged in nearly every thread posted on here, i love me some Bedge. IMO this THE best SBnation site i have visited. Ben and Dave......err should i say Dave and Ben.....not sure which is proper.....regardless you two are what makes the machine work. I am also an avid seahawks fan and fieldgulls.com is a good site and John Morgan is a good dude and crazy knowledgable regarding the NFL but the off season content at that site is nothing compared to what i have enjoyed over the last few years with this site.

Blazer's Edge Rudy this, Rudy that, who does this guy think he is.

A rare good read over at hoopsworld got me thinking. Link: http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?story_id=17129 Honestly, who does Rudy think he is? I have seen a ton of Rudy posts' lately so forgive me if i am contributing to the madness but that Hoopsworld article makes a ton of good points i would bet we are all thinking. Disclaimer: I was/am as big a fan of Rudy as anyone but he really needs a reality check.

Blazer's Edge Ugh, enough of the endless media slurping of the OKC Thunder

Ok, i cant hold it in anymore. I have to vent, this media darling crap going on with the OKC Thunder has reached the sickening point for me. http://www.blazersedge.com/2010/8/10/1617082/predicting-the-west-w-poll post references the espn article : http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?page=SummerForecast10-WestStandings in which the thunder are a consensus #2 prediction. Blazer's Edge Hoopsworlds top Western conf. teams, what do ya think?

In a completely intended attempt to change the trade/ cp3 talk that is everywhere at the moment i am asking you all what you think of Hoopsworlds Top West Conf. teams. Our own Blazers are ranked 2 which is flattering. OKC is number 3 though which i am not so sure of. Let me just say i don't actually think hoopsworld is a very good site for info or rumor but i still glaze over it regularly.

Blazer's Edge Growing concern that the train is about to de-rail.

Just like many of you all, i have been following the off season events very closely. Well the K.P. saga started a bit before the year ended but still.......I have done my best and i continue to keep doing my best to remain posative. The latest Dean Demo leaving news is YET another change that doesnt seem to make sense, let me explain my point of view.

Blazer's Edge Am i the only one who see's the Martell trade as Bad?

Please educate me on this, but from my point of view we traded a guy who shoots the three with the best of em, who can't penetrate, score off the dribble, or create much offense outside of the spot up jumper/three and occasional fast break bucket but DOES play solid Defense for a ROOKIE who is a relative unknown(for me) and the best i can figure out is a good shooter.

Blazer's Edge OK, seriously what is happening?

So we have the all to public K.P. thing going on, for those who have been on mars the last 6 months K.P. (the arcitect of our team) is in hot water and not long for his job. Lame. Then of course comes the trade this guy or that guy posts, rightfully so. Then Monty bails for the New Orleans CP3's, good for him i thought. Now Prunty and Demo are not to be retained as we can all see in the post by Ben. Am i the only one who subscribes to the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" theory?

Blazer's Edge A question for all the "what we should do this off season" posters

So naturally once the year is over the fan suggested off season move posts are popping up like weeds. I like some of em, some others don't seem all that realistic but hey i like reading those to honestly. The highlights include, a possible way to get Lebron, LMA for Bosh, an MLE player for Bosh, or just adding an MLE player and calling it a day. Fair enough all.
