Winging It In Motown Chances of catching Nucks low (in case you didn't know)

The Red Wings trail the Canucks by 11 points and have 2 games in hand. As it stands, the Canucks are projected to finish with 117 points. Even if they won all of their remaining games, the Red Wings would still fall short. But maybe they can make things a little interesting?

Winging It In Motown FTT profile on Pavel Datsyuk

If Game 1 of the playoff series between Detroit Red Wings and San Jose was of any indication of what's to come in the remaining games, Pavel Datsyuk is going to play one of the leading roles in this drama. Out of all the Red Wings, he was the most visible on the ice on Thursday. Not only did he lead his team with two points that night, he was visible on both sides of the ice, offensively and defensively. This, of course, is nothing new, as he tormented the Sharks on a regular basis since arriving into the NHL nine years ago.

Winging It In Motown Need better play in 1st & 3rd

Since the Olympics…

The Red Wings have been held to fewer than 10 shots in 4 2nd periods and scored in 2 anyway. When facing at least 10 shots in a period, they have held their opponent scoreless in that period 2 out of 16 times. They have been less than 90% in 13 periods (at least one of those occurring in just about every game), including 5 1st periods.

Winging It In Motown Days of the Week (2010-04-08)

Someone posted before about the Red Wings records on different days of the week. Here's the continuation of that.

The Red Wings are currently on pace for 100 points this season (much better than the 89 when this was initially posted). What happens if that projection is adjusted for days of the week?

Winging It In Motown Birds, Monarchs, and Fish

I have updated statistics here and thought I'd share some things relevant to the upcoming week's games against the Ducks, Kings, and Sharks. My predictions are that the stats will be pretty grim (I haven't looked yet). Luckily, stats don't predict anything.

Unfortunately, no player statistics.

Winging It In Motown Chicago

(Ranking is points per game, based on numbers from a few minutes ago.)

16th road ranked Detroit (also 16th at home) hopes to pick up 2 points in 1st home ranked Chicago (12th on the road).

Last game the Red Wings played in Chicago, they won with goals from Marian Hossa, Johan Franzen, Valtteri Filppula, and Henrik Zetterberg, and assists from Niklas Kronwall, none of whom will play for Detroit.

The last time the teams met, Johan Franzen had the game winning goal. It was his the last game he has played.

The last regular season meeting in Chicago, the Red Wings were shut out. Before that, at the Winter Classic, the Red Wings had goals from Mikael Samuelsson, Jiri Hudler, Pavel Datsyuk, Brian Rafalski, and Brett Lebda. The best goaltenders that game were Nikolai Khabibulin and Ty Conklin, neither of whom will play.

The Blackhawks average 3.03 goals for per game and 2.15 against and the Red Wings average 2.80 goals for per game and 2.66 against.
