Stampede Blue on the topic of resting starters - good for a laugh

Here is a funny one I found

http://www.theonion.com/content/news_briefs/colts_to_rest_starters_for

This website is great for a lot of tongue in cheek articles and every once and a while they actually fool people into thinking it is really.

Got a great chuckle out of this one. They do this for most major news stories.  Just on the lighter side and as an antidote to all the stupid talking head news stories we get blasted with.

Wonder if these guys are colts fan.

Is this 75 words yet.....

Stampede Blue injury report

Wow looks like half the roster is on the injury report -  including peyton.  That said, a lot of them still seemed to have practiced.    I hope neither Freeney nor peyton is anything that will affect their play.  Was a real shock to see peyton, as that is a rare sighting. (unlike brady who seems to be a permanent fixture on the pats injury report)

Is this enough words?

Nope.. i still need another seven words.    now it should be long enough

Stampede Blue Favourite Moment of the Weekend

With no colts to watch so far, I think my favourite moment was watching Ray Lewis come through the Chargers line UNTOUCHED, and blow up the run on fourth down by Sproules, to seal the win for Baltimore.   I almost died laughing.  The look on Rivers face was priceless.

I was watching the first half of the Dallas game hoping to see a punt hit the scoreboard... Wonder how many punters will be aiming for it this year.

Any other thoughts on the best moments in the non-colts games?

Stampede Blue Tickets prices

As a toronto colt fan desparately hoping the colts play the bills here in Toronto this year, we got the news that the ticket prices would be cheaper this year, and that they would be LOWERING them to between 100-300 dollars.

What I'd like to know is how badly we are getting hosed here.. How much do seats run if you see a home game in the Lucas Oil Stadium?  (Even considering that the canadian dollar is lower this means the cheapest seats would be around $80 US)

Stampede Blue Hagler resigned

http://www.colts.com/  is reporting that Hagler resigned.   I wonder why it took so long. He must have tested the market and discovered there wasn't much interest.

Stampede Blue Favre Retires... Again

NFL.com and others are reporting Favre has once again retired.  Any bets on whether it will last this time or not?

It is very sad when a great player ends his career with this type of desperately trying to stretch out his career .. and doesn't look very good doing it.

HOpe he stays retired this time as he is certainly a first ballot HOFer.   Would have been a much better note if he had done it after a successful year in GB last year.

Wonder what the hell the jets will do for a QB now.     Anyone think they will make a run at Cassel? (though maybe less likely with Mangini gone).

have I made 75 words yet......................................

Stampede Blue Cassel tagged

nfl website is reporting Cassel has been tagged. His salary (and cap hit) would be 14.65 million.  compare this to brady whose cap hit this coming year is 14.62... That means the pats would have almost 30mil tied up in QB's. And the cap for this coming year is just over 129 million.

They would have 25% of their cap room tied up in two guys, who can't even play at the same time (or even on opposite sides of the ball)

They must not have a lot of faith in brady being back healthy..

Stampede Blue open thread for tonight

seeing as BBS seems to be AWOL still... Anybody else out there watching the game..

We need to root for the jets (which isn't hard rooting for Favre)  since we own the tie break over the Pats..

And the pats are missing both Adalius Thomas and Ty Warren.  The losses on defense may do this team in...  It is really their defense that won them 3 rings..

Blah Blah Blah... I am still short words.  This is a real pain to make this long enough..

Stampede Blue firefox add on

I don't know if anyone else has stumbled on this, but if you use firefox (version 2) there is a colts theme addon...    I have it running on my browser now.. Is kind of neat since it gives you horseshoes with all your icons, it colts colours of course...  I can't seem to get a screen capture or I'd put that up too..

Anybody else know of any good backgrounds or screensavers with a colts theme?

Though I must admit since I spend a lot of hours on a computer it is kind of a tease staring at colts logo when we haven't seen a game in months....

How the hell long is 75 words?

Stampede Blue Start Streaks

Any body else wonder if peyton for some reason misses a start this season. (say if we decided to play it safe once we have the division locked up).  If Favre would finally retire and stay retired?  I wonder how much of Favre's decision to return had to do with the fact that Peyton could possibly challenge that record in particular.   I just can't understand otherwise why Favre would bother to return when the Packers didn't want him on the field yet were willing to offer him big bucks to do something else.  I truly hope when peyton is done he doesn't try to hold on like this.  It seems terribly selfish to play that kind of game with a team who did so well by you on Favre's part.

Stampede Blue Warren Sapp retires

Warren Sapp too has retired this year.  As the NFL site mentions this is a bit ironic that he and Favre retire the same year, given the history of trash talking between these two when they still played in the same division.

On a side note, here is a player that played 13 years in the league, and yet according to the NFL report was fined only twice in that entire time. (one for that infamous hit after an interception on the green bay player)

The fact that as a defensive lineman he could play so many years with so few fines, and yet a player like Wilfork is fined 3 times in a single season I think is reflective of a classy, skilled player (even with all the trash talk) vs. a dirty player who uses illegal hits to achieve an end rather than talent.

Stampede Blue Moss signs with pats

NFL site is reporting moss has signed a 3 year 27 million dollar deal with the patriots... wonder how they will afford their #7 draft pick now...  guess that explains why they let both their starting corners walk...  but without their defense, this team may be in for a rude shock...

I was hoping he'd go somewhere else, but I guess we are stuck with the moss - brady hype for 3 more years...

Stampede Blue Combine

Are any of you fans who are actually in Indy going to watch any of the combine?  It would be interesting to hear some people's impressions of the rookies actually in action.. I will get in on the NFL network, but that isn't the same as being there..

Might be a good segment for one of you guys to have over the combine... keep the rest of us out here up on who looks good beyond just the numbers...

Is this long enough yet?

Stampede Blue Free Agency

Could someone generate a list of who are free agents and restricted free agents are so when we are discussing the draft we know who we might lose.  Is there also anyway to know what kind of offers these guys may be receiving from other teams which may also tell us something about how likely they are to leave.  I know the NFL has a general site that has this information but they don't put it up for a while and finding stuff on the new NFL site is a pain...

Stampede Blue Polian Draft 2008

okay anyone want to start betting on what polian drafts this year... we don't have a 1st round pick, so it is probably a lot more fluid to wait and see.

most people seem to think we need defensive lineman, but when has polian ever picked what we expect...

how about a running back with our first pick whenever it is  ... or go way out on a limb a QB to replace sorgi...

Stampede Blue thoughts on the season

well...  it hurts... but not as much as in previous years... we weren't robbed by the refs  and we weren't knocked out by the bottom seed...  and it hurts less when you have the ring... kind of cushions the blow.

that being said this did not look like a team who really wanted to win... we had NO pass rush... i'd rather lose to the charger in a tight one than have our asses handed to us by the pats as brady sits in the pocket and finds moss all day... in the end the loss of freeney and probably mcfarland killed us..

and i agree with the comments about rivers being a total jackass... i hope the league fines him for his behaviour

and i also intend to avoid football for a while...the only way i would watch the superbowl is if green bay gets in, since it would be nice to see favre win... but i really don't want to listen to the patriots ball washing that goes on...

i think we really need to draft some more pass rushers.....

and will you patriots fans bugger off and stop gloating.... it gets really old and i have no respect for the kind of cheating you team has been  caught at..

leaves us to cry in our beer and commiserate alone...

Stampede Blue atlanta QB

so is atlanta going to start harrington or leftwich against the colts..

they started leftwich this last sunday and it was a disaster for them... i watched  a highlight of him trying to scramble. and he looked worse than peyton trying to run the ball..  i can understand signing him if you are desperate for a backup QB ... but harrington hasn't played that bad...

so BBS ... leftwich or harrington this week?

i am hope for leftwich... our defense should have lots of fun with him and this time no fred taylor and mighty mouse to win for him

Stampede Blue onto San Diego

now this nonsense is over... let's look at San Diego.

I don't care that we are playing in their house... right now they are a .500 team (and sadly near their division lead).  The key to them ... and it has been done a few times

STOP LT.. if you stop the chargers running game you kill their offense

and their defense just isn't the same without Marty to crack the whip on these guys..

if our defense plays well, especially if we have our LB'ers' back, this is a beatable team.

Look at what minnesota did to them?  Think Addai and our blocking isn't just as good..

Stampede Blue patriots playing games

and the patriots playing games hasn't stopped.. .i watched the game off and on (Sunday ticket is great)  and one of the things that came up a couple of times is that the commmunications from the skins booth to the field wasn't working... surprise surprise... apparently videogate has taught them nothing..  I hope Goddell looks into this and throws the book at them.. this is embarrassing for the league.

I don't blame gibbs for not wanting to shake hands  i wouldn't either with the classless cheater.. cheating and then running up the score is really unbelievable.. and let's be honest, all this running up the score is just about beating Peyton's record since the pats are so fixated on getting their asses handed to them by the colts

(hey 300 hundred characters here no problem)

Stampede Blue patriots running game

am i the only one to notice that the pats don't have much of a run game...  they don't run well (and injuries don't help) and they can't seem to control the clock.. that is the problem with the air only attack... you can score, but you give the opposition lots of time to score too... and if someone gets a pass rush on brady he rattles.  it is easy to look great when you can stand there all day... would be interesting to see what he does if someone can get some pressure on him  AND COVER WELKER..  randy moss is not the real threat.. the prima donna might get a couple of pretty catches and pad his stats, but it is welker in the slot that will burn you.

Vikings scored a phenomenal number of points back around the time moss came into the league.. went 15-1 and crashed and burned in the playoffs...

and the pats defense still looks old and slow..  yes we might get into a shoot out. but our run game is better, and if we can control the clock better.. we will win..

haha... run the ball and keep brady off the field.. rodney harrison repeatedly got run over by the dallas backs....  there are lots of way to beat these patriots.

and what was with the classless running up the score being up two scores on your own goal line with less that a minute left and dallas has no timeouts...

Stampede Blue and more on denver's amazing Henry

for all the chest beating by tom3 and terry, seems maybe there was more to denver's back than a legimate performance... Henry may now get a year for being nailed by the league...

probably is easier to run when you are hopped up on something

Stampede Blue frye goes to seattle

does crennel have a clue what to do with the offense?

after naming frye the starter, he yanks him after less than a half of play and now the nfl network is reporting he will be traded to the seahawks...  The browns are the new bungles....

I know this isn't really colts news, but it is hilarious to watch an ex-pats coach really stink it up as a head coach...   has there ever been a coach who played musical QB's and won...

Stampede Blue rodney harrision suspended

pat harrison got caught for something (though he says is not steriods)... and got 4 games.

http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d801fd1d3&template=with-video&confirm=true

I wonder how many of these high motor guys have been doing something, but were good at hiding it...  Doping has always been a game of the chemists making the stuff staying ahead of those trying to test for it...  Do these guys not realize the long term or even short term dangers.....

Stampede Blue warren off the market

well nfl website is reporting that denver has traded warren to oakland for an undisclosed draft pick... thank heavens, didn't really want his fat lazy ass ending on the colts.  I always wonder about trades within a division though...

Stampede Blue Ed Johnson

more on this unknown DT who impressed at the first preseason game... he was an undrafted rookie, but seems was due to some character issues while he was at Penn State.  He had been projected as a 4th round pick... but the problems cost him.   If he has grown up he might be a real steal in this year's draft given what we saw thursday night.

http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070812/SPORTS03/708120417/1100

might be why no one is in a rush to replace from the outside.  if he and pitcock can be brought up to speed, we might not need another risky pickup (though with the injured pitcock seems like Polian's 3rd round pick curse continues....

Stampede Blue simon will be cut

seems like they have decided to cut simon after all

http://www.nfl.com/teams/story/IND/10277577

at least this will put this all out of our misery

other interesting story Vince Young is showing his class... if you are a leader you don't throw punches at your team mate

http://www.nfl.com/teams/story/TEN/10277590

let's see what happens in the regular season.. obviously you can get under this guy's skin... take note defense..

Stampede Blue shake up on MNF

seems like they are again changing the announcing line up for MNF....  theisman is out.. and though i am glad to see him gone as i had lost any respect for him (and most other ESPN/ABC commentators) over the years replacing him with jaworski might be going from bad to worse.... i'd rather see dan fouts back. it just seems like the quality of football announcers is going downhill.  very few seem to be able to really explain and offer good commentary on the game.  mostly you seem to get the phil simms types who fall in love with one player and will rave about him at any opportunity (even if their team is not even in the game they are covering...  anyone else sick of listening to sims blow tom brady?  or randy cross talk about steve mcnair?)

Stampede Blue peyton on SNL

well that was disappointing..  i haven't watched SNL in years, and now i know why... just isn't what is was ...  the united way skit with peyton was funny, but they really missed the mark with the attempts to make fun of 'he can't win the big one'...  i day the comedians there now are a far cry from the belushi's or eddie murphy or even william shatner bashing star trek fans.. i wonder if too much political correctness has done this show in.

and how many damn commercials were there... i think about every 5 minutes there was another commercial break. and here on the canadian feed we get stuck with the same 5 or 6 commercials over and over... painful..

Stampede Blue lost reagor

according to adam schefter, the eagles have signed monty reagor to a deal   3 year  just over 8 million.. with 2 million guaranteed. guess we won't be resigning him then.  wonder if he will be ready to play..  i really wonder what this means is happening with corey simon right now.  or are they planning to draft a DT or is there something else in the works?  mcfarland alone is good, but we do need more depth on that line

Stampede Blue lovie signed

well, bears got smart and nfl website is reporting he has been signed to a 4 year extension.   no terms though.  guess he won't be coming to the colts if dungy is planning to leave after this year.. oh well..

congrats bears fans.  your management got smart and resigned one of the class acts in the league.
