Wild Card Push?
After today's win over Texas we sit 6.5 back and have another must win game over Texas tomorrow. Let's imagine Minny pulls off a win against the Imdians again tomorrow we could potentially be 5.5 back with just under 2 months left. That would setup a gigantic series vs. Yankees thankfully at home and then a road series against the woeful Royals. With AJ coming back and other than the Tampa and Chicago series' it seems were playing good ball. Could it be possible to make a push? I think were capable. What are everyone's thoughts?
Tonight's Game
Wow this one is going to hurt. Jays cruising along would have been a big win, keeping pace with the Sox and looks like gaining a game on the Yanks. Marcum pitched a fanatastic and efficient 5 innings. That leads to my first question. I know they had a plan to let him go 5, but with so much talk about resting the bullpen and after 2 extra inning games on the weekend why not send him out for the 6th? He was at about 75 pitches and if they're trying to rest the bullpen, then try to let him go one more. If he starts to struggle don't hesitate to make a change. Now this didn't look like it'd matter but then top of the 8th 2 out they bring in Schoeneweis, a lefty. Now we know their strongest lefty is by far BJ Ryan. Why leave him in the bullpen? He rested yesterday he should be able to go 1 1/3 inning and survive. I think this cost the Jays a big win and they now are 4.5 back definetly not impossible but the way they lost it is what's tough.
Shea Hillenbrand
I'm just wondering where Shea Hillenbrand has been lately, I noticed that tonight against Texas they started Hinske there and and played Mottola at DH. They have also been DHing either Molina and Zaun which I don't think makes a lot of sense (playing both your catchers). Is he injured and I just missed it? I also would like to hear people's comments on Molina batting ahead of Overbay usually at 5th and Overbay at 6th. I think Molina is hitting .285 or something and Overbay about .300 and and especially tonight with Molina at cleanup. I don't understand because I know Overbay has more power than Bengie as he hit his 15th homerun tonight.
