Only thing I have against Jake Delhomme
The only thing I have against Jake as my starting qb is that he is completely average. Its not a terrible thing in that he usually won't cost you a game and if not given enough pass attempts he can go through a game without 6 pics lol. But he also won't take over a game like the greats like Peyton Manning, Tom Brady and Ben the Burger can. If you're down by 21 points hes not gonna turn into superman and come back. He has a really good winning percentage but also has played on some strongs teams with good running games and strong defenses. Lets face it hes only had two really good seasons. I wouldn't put Jake in the same group as Peyton, Tom, Donovan, Carson or Burgerboy but I would say hes top 20, probably at 19. Hes a game manager who does well despite what he has physically much like Chad Pennington but he isn't quite as acurrate or aware as Penny is. Don't get me wrong I'd much rather have Jake over someone like Daunte Culpepper or JP Losman anyday. He has moments where I am just really really glad hes on my team but then he has a game where you wonder how he ever became a pro qb. I think I am at the point where if the Panthers are down by more than 21 in the 4th I want to see Matty get some playing time and possibly challenge for the starting job later this season or take over next year. Its not that I don't like Jake anymore, its just I feel like hes peaked and done as much for the Panthers as he can. He is what he is, a game manager who needs a strong running game and a good O-line to win.Just look at his last two playoff games where they needed him to step up. Against Seattle in the 06 NFC Championship game he had 1 touch and 3 pics, and well we all know what when down in the desert. I think its time we started leasing time to Matty in blowouts, whether they are losses or wins. That way we can already have a qb with some playing time under his belt and still fairly young who can lead this team for the next decade or so if everythings works out. Leave some comments, good or bad and Peace out Panther fans
Drafting for the future (Defense/Utility)
On this little bit of research I did I looked at a few specific positions that we can all agree the Rams are in almost immediant help. Then I went a step further and looked into the next few seasons at what we could need. With that being said lets begin lol.
Outside Linebacker
Johnny Williams (Kentucky) Plays both inside and outside linebacker. Has good combination of size and speed. Has the tenacity that coach Spags likes wasn't used much on blitzes until his senior year but when he was effective when sent. Throws his body around. Not much finesse he is a throwback hitter
Dan Skuta (Grand Valley State) Nothing fancy here. Plays both outside backer and rush end which is why I think he would be good for the Rams. Still improving and has some potential to be a poor mans Shawn Merriman (Shaun Phillips lol). Could possibly be the Kawika Mitchell/Mathia Kiwanuka of the Rams defense.
Inside Linebacker
Jasper Brinkley (South Carolina) Right now is probably a 4th round pick or lower. Has defense end size with WILL speed. Tore his acl last year but looked recovered this year he is a beast when he is on the top of his game. Reckless with his body and thinks of offensive lineman and fullbacks as nothing but minor inconviences. Could start soon.
Dave Philistin (Maryland) Has good but not great size at 6'2" 230 but is a good athlete. He was a tackling machine these last two years but hes not much of a playmaker evidenced by his one career interception. Probably a career backup but if he can gain some bulk without losing speed he may surpise.
Cornerback* Note I strayed away from blazer corners as they aren't working out well for the Rams lol and plus Spags doesn't use blazers so I focused on players with size, tackling skills, playmaking skills and most of all coverage skills
DJ Clark (Idaho State) He has above average size for a cornerback and also has above average speed. He is a ballhawk who will take chances and more often than not gets away with it. If he can be restrained a little in that regard he should be a fine cover corner and special teams contributer.
Sherrod Martin (Troy) Looks like a 3rd round pick right now but could be pushed further down due to injurys during his freshman and sophmore years which led to him sitting out his junior year. However he has been injury free the past two seasons. Has safety size safety insticts and well he has played safety. Unlike the current Rams DBs he can make an open field tackle. Is a Marlin Jackson style corner in that he can play both free safety and cornerback and switch back and forth during games.Does have good speed to go along with above average instincts. If hes available in the 4th take him.
Utility players are the players you stick on special teams units. the Rams need better ones. These guys can help
Victor Butler(OLB) (Oregon State) Is a highly effective pass rusher and is solid on kick coverage teams. Could probably be plugged into the coverage teams right away and would add needed size to the linebacking core.
Jason Williams (OLB/ILB) (Western Illinois) Was a highly effective linebacker in college and has good size and has safety speed. While he could cut his teeth on special teams he has all the tools to be a future starter at linebacker if devolped properly.
Keith Fitzhugh(Safety) (Mississippi State) He has decent but not great size but is a maximum effort player and stands out on game film. Has great instincts but has average or slightly below average speed. However he plays faster than he times or looks and can surpise you. Would be a valuable run stopper/special teams player who could possibly be a 6th round pick due to his size and speed.
This was just a quck put together but I am putting together a more in depth version that should be available within the next few days. Be sure to dissect this and give some comments :)

Drafting for the future (Offense)
This is my first post so hello to everyone. With that being said I am a big Rams fan even though they aren't my absolute favorite team (Eagles) but they are my 2nd favorite and have been since I was around 7 or 8. I am 17 almost 18 now so I have been through all the glory years, great years, somewhat good years and the past two seasons. Anyway looking over the Rams roster its clear that their are two problems with it number 1: They are a team that isn't that talented throughout most positions and number 2: they are a young team without much young talent except for the d-line. So with that in mind I looked at this years draft and picked out a few players who could be low risk high reward type players. The kind that are available from the 5th round below and won't take up much cap room and if they are busts then you can just cut them with no problem but if they excell then you have a steal. I tried to pick out 2 players at every position who could come in and learn the system for a season or two and contribute in spots or special teams, then start to contribute regularly including possibly starting once they learn the system. Please give me comments and tell me what you think Starting with...
Quarterback
John Parker Wilson(Alabama) He won't be a gunslinger but I bet he could be a really solid backup qb. He is a great game manager who doesn't make many mistakes.
Chase Holbrook(New Mexico State) He has good size and experience, and is considered easy to coach. Doesn't have a big arm but he has enough zip ton the ball o put it where it needs to go. Deciphers defenses really easily. Given time to adjust to the speed of the pro game he could probably start in a couple of seasons.
Running Back
Kory Sheets(Purdue)He has good size and speed and fights for yardage. Is an above average receiver for a RB and can block. Only downside is experience
Bernard Scott:(Abilene Christian)A DII prospect who ran for over 5,000 in 3 years with 74 rushing tds. Also a good reciever and would be a good change of pace back with SJ. Probably could be undrafted free agent so he would be cheap
Receiver
Ramses Barden(Cal Poly) I feel bad about this, I have been a fan of his for the last 2 years and just when I think he could be a steal he starts moving up everyones draft boards because of his size and toughness and ability. Would be great for the Rams who need a big receiver
Jarret Dillard(Rice)Won't dominate like he did in college but his intangables are immeasurable. Decent size and quickness but is a big time playmaker. Could one day possibly be a number 1 receiver
Tight End
Anthony Hill(North Carolina state) Great size, built like a linemen. Decent quickness for his size and a good receiver. Can be a team leader. His blocking is better than Brandon Pettiegrew who is consider the best TE this draft.
Tripp Chandler(Georgia)Not a good receiver but is a good blocker with good size. Has some potential to be a sub package blocker
Tackle
Lydon Murtha(Nebraska) A big guy who is very athletic for his size. Plays with good leverage and technique. Could possibliy start one day. Looks to be able to play both tackles spots. Kind of like Adam Goldberg
Sean Sester(Purdue) BIg enough to play guard, has decent but not great speed. Can play top heavy and is sometimes top heavy nevertheless he is a try hard player who may not be a full time starter but could be a valuable backup
Guard
Travis Bright(BYU) Has good size but his speed makes him valuable for a pull guard. He has great character and potential as a possible starter one day who can contribute almost immediantely.
Louis West(Henderson State) To clearly imagine his size without ever seeing him just imagine a much taller and heavier Ted Washington. Absolute beast in the trenchs in both run and pass protection. Played for a small school so he will be a bit of a project and at 375 lbs could probably afford to drop 30 or more pounds to improve his speed
Center
Antoine Caldwell(Alabama) He can play any position the line including LT. has good size and speed combo and has decent strength. Workout numbers aren't eye popping but when I watch film of Alabama he stands out more than teammate Andre Smith. Above average technique, will probably be a 2nd or 3rd round pick but he will be well worth it.
Rob Bruggeman(Iowa) Good height, decent weigth but still filling out. Has decent technique but still improving. Great character. Not necessarily special but tries hard every play and never slows down until the game is over.
Like I said before please give me some comments and thanks for reading :D
