Bless You Boys Coke on DL, Adam WIlk called up

According to FSD:

http://www.foxsportsdetroit.com/05/24/11/Coke-goes-on-DL-Wilk-called-up-/landing_tigers.html?blockID=527965&feedID=3701

To take Coke's spot on the club's 25-man roster the Tigers are purchased the contract of pitcher Adam Wilk from Triple-A Toledo. Wilk is 3-4 with a 3.86 ERA in eight starts with the Mud Hens. He has 32 strikeouts and five walks.

To create room on the club's 40-man roster for Wilk, the Tigers designated the contract of pitcher Robbie Weinhardt for assignment.

Additionally, the Tigers will recall pitcher Andy Oliver on Saturday to start that evening's game against the Boston Red Sox

I'm guessing Wilk gets sent down Saturday for Oliver. Unless they are shaking up the bullpen more. I really thought after Furbush outing he would get the chance at a start

Bless You Boys Casey Crosby Update

I have been searching for information on Casey and this is the first update on him I have seen. Let's hope he can stay healthy and put in a very 2011 season in. If he can say healthy, it could be big for the tigers.

Per Mark Anderson on Twitter:

Being told  LH pitching prospect Casey Crosby is throwing bullpens w/o pain and w/ prior velo intact....good sign after mystery 2010.

Winging It In Motown Kostopoulus suspension handed out

(Editor's note: bumped from FanPosts)

Per NHL.com

Flames forward Tom Kostopoulos has been suspended for six games and will forfeit $29,569.92 in salary for delivering a blow to the head of Detroit Red Wings defenseman Brad Stuart in NHL game #609 on January 7, the National Hockey League announced today.

"A number of factors were considered in reaching this decision," said NHL Senior Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations Colin Campbell.  "Kostopoulos delivered a blow to the head of an unsuspecting and vulnerable player. As well, he targeted the head of his opponent and, while the hit was not from the blindside, the head was the principle point of contact. The fact that Brad Stuart was not in possession of the puck when the blow was delivered and the serious nature of the player's injury were also considered in my decision."

Well I guess it is a plus he was suspended but I was in the camp of 8+ games even though I doubted it would happen.

Bloody Elbow Silva Dropping the Belt?

I might have been the only one to have missed this but yahoo posted a story(read via fightlinker) saying the Soares talked to Dana and said that Silva wants to drop the belt and fight only at 205. Dana replied by saying that they could do that. Now both Dana and Anderson expressed their feelings about Silva fighting Lyoto, but i believe, this might be, if Lyoto gets past Shogun, the first time the UFC enforces the " i dont care if your friends, here is a bag of money and you will fight each other" policy.
