5 Things that make me want to throw up
- Crosby, Stamkos, St.Louis, and Sedin have outpointed our TEAM by 12 points
- How our owner is MIA when the fans need some hope of anything more than ever
- The Coach's Boston accent (and his inability to call a T/O)
- Islander commercials - both the dumb rip off ones and the generic msg ones
- Rick DiPietro
cablevision owned optimum rewards is running an Isles promo, to win a VIP suite on Dec 18th (face value greater than stubhub value) and it looks like they dusted off a nice pic of Miro to help the promotion... classic
"Uncle" Jesse is back
let's see if he can bring a spark and/or use that 6'4" to his advantage
The Caps fans sure have some strange chants...
when they score, they count up/chant the # of goals they have and then scream "it's all your fault" - made funnier by the empty netter at the end - who's fault exactly?
when the bruins scored, after the announcement, they chant, "who cares?" judging from the crowds moaning, they cared plenty after blowing a 3-0 lead
overall a loud and interactive packed house, even if they were a bit whiny about the calls after they blew that 3-0 lead
side note, 9 out of ever 11 caps jerseys we saw were #8, insane
DeHaan/Cizikas love
an all-star-esque nod to two isles prospects
CB's tweets about the Habs impending invasion haven't fallen on deaf ears... anyone go to the isles homepage lately? this is the pic on the front/entry page

Jeff Tambellini is in the running for a spot in Vancouver's top-six forward group to start the season with Alex Burrows out with a shoulder injury.
Brendan Morrison, Cody Hodgson and Sergei Shirokov are also vying for the position, but no one has stood out yet in the competition as far as coach Alain Vigneault is concerned. "Nobody has come out and grabbed it and said, 'Coach, I'm the guy,' who is going to go out there whether it be with the twins or whether it's moving [Mikael] Samuelsson with the twins and playing somebody else there [on the second line]," Vigneault said Monday. "Nobody has come out and grabbed it. There are three games in four nights [this week] and hopefully somebody is going to force our hand." Tambellini played well with the twins on Saturday and Hodgson will play with Ryan Kesler and Mason Raymond on Tuesday night against San Jose.
Matt Moulson, Islanders -- The best thing that happened to Moulson was John Tavares being drafted by the Islanders with the No. 1 pick in the 2009 Entry Draft. Moulson, a consistent scorer at Cornell and in the AHL, had a couple of look-sees from the Los Angeles Kings, but entered last summer as a 25-year-old minor-league free agent. He also was a childhood friend of Tavares, who convinced the Isles that Moulson was worth a gamble.
Tavares proved to be an excellent talent scout. Not only did Moulson make the team, he led the Isles with 30 goals, including 5 game-winners. Moulson started the season on a line with Tavares, but as the season went on, he showed he could be effective playing without him.
Moulson should be entering his prime (he turns 27 in November), and the Islanders need him to at least come close to matching last season's numbers if they hope to push for a playoff berth.
Thanks NHL.com for the great shot of Messier hoisting the Cup on the Islanders homepage... WTF!

Canada now will face Latvia and Belarus in the relegation round. A win in at least one of those games will guarantee it a spot in the 2011 tournament.
even for U-18's, gotta be a let down...
Kabanov not at U-18 anymore
"I removed him from the team because we thought Kabanov would help us, but he brought only confusion to the team," Russia coach Mikhail Vasiliev told Sovietsky Sport. "Kabanov came and thought, 'Here I am, a star from Canada, who will save all.' But it's the team that wins rather than an individual player."
too funny not to re-post this one for the isles fans... history will be made spoof on mad mike

Not the best video but only one i could find, so far so good for Isles prospect Matt Donavon, who now has 2 goals after sizzling this bomb
Nassau County Executive Thomas Suozzi conceded electoral defeat to his Republican challenger Legis. Edward Mangano Tuesday afternoon in a televised news conference from the ceremonial chamber of the Theodore Roosevelt Executive and Legislative Building in Mineola. Some political observers called it a stunning setback for an articulate, aggressive politician who has had ambitions for higher office.
In another development, Democratic incumbent Comptroller Howard Weitzman also conceded defeat Tuesday to Republican challenger George Maragos. In a written statement Weitzman said: "I would like to congratulate George Maragos on his election as Nassau County comptroller. Although the results of the election are not what I hoped for, it has been an honor to serve the people of Nassau County for eight years and I am proud of what I have accomplished as comptroller."
