Eric Hosmer
Most of us know about Eric Hosmer, the uber-1B high school prospect. He has, by many accounts, a plus bat and glove, and, based on talent and on a Mark Texeira-like potential.
What a joke

OT-Your favorite inspirational quotation
Well, it's been kind of sucky around here in terms of some people's attitudes, so I figured I would make this diary to lighten the mood a little bit, if this would help...
Raymond Nunez
Via the NYYFanForums, I've heard about two recent international signings--1B Raymond Nunez and RHP Harry Garce. This is some preliminary info I got from the Forums via a poster:
The New-Look Yankees?
In old times (well, in the 80s and early 90s, and back again only from 1998-2005), the Yankees traded away prospects to get big-time players who either didn't pan out or didn't help much in the long run. In the mean time, good and great talents such as Fred McGriff, Mike Lowell, and Jake Westbrook have passed through the Yankees system before getting traded. Now, with a young and revitalized owner in Hank Steinbrenner seemingly thought of re-starting an era so carefully started and protected by GM Brian Cashman that has produced many productive drafts and international signings.
*REVISED!* COMMUNITY PROSPECT #15 RUN-OFF
Update [2007-11-25 18:29:54 by bobbymcnally]:: POLLING IS CLOSED. MATT WIETERS HAS WON. This is a revised run-off for a dead-heat in #15, so I don't think we should go to #16 yet.
Calling all yankees fans:
No, this is not a fantasy want-ad. I just wanted to see how many of you agree with these top 30 prospect rankings and profiles I compiled:

Yankees Rule 5 Draft
The following are eligible rule 5 draft players in the Yankees system
According to Rob Neyer's Transaction Primer, these are the rules:
A player not on a team's Major League 40-man roster is eligible for the Rule 5 draft if: the player was 18 or younger when he first signed a pro contract and this is the fourth Rule 5 draft since he signed, OR if he was 19 or older when he first signed a pro contract and this is the third Rule 5 draft since he signed.
This comes out to signing at 18 or younger in 2004 or 19 or older in 2005:
Jairo Heredia
Does anyone have info on him? If so, please give me some cuz I need it.
Thanks.

Yankees Relief Options Next Year
I haven't posted a diary in months, so I'll do one now. Joba Chamberlain, if the Yankees keep their word, is going to the rotation, so who do you think will step into his role in the pen in 08 for the bombers?
GM Rankings
The season is almost over, and moves made by the thirty teams have either paid off or not.
Yankees Top 10 Prospects
In response to Bravesin07 request for the top 10 prospects of every team, I've taken the liberty to do the Yankee's top 10 prospects.
1. Phil Hughes, RHP, Most bona-fide prospect in system--outstanding control and command, throws hard, best curveball according to BA in the Yankee system, and the case can be made that he is the best pitching prospect in baseball. Has been called up to take Kei Igawa's rotation turn.
Yankees Draft Picks/Trade Deadline
What happened Andrew Brackman? What is his projection for this year, and why is he still unsigned? When is his ETA?

Shelley Duncan
Shelley Duncan is tearing apart AAA pitchers. Last I checked he hit .283 w/ 20 HRs and at least 60+ RBIs. The Yankees should trade Damon to the Giants, eat $6 mil a year off his salary, and get a decent prospect in return. They should call Duncan up, bat him 6th and DH him.
Like Butler from the Royals, he should learn RF during the offseason, because I hope the Yankees don't pick up Abreu's 2008 option.
*P.S. This isn't the first time Duncan rips apart minor league pitching. He's probably the Yankee's fourth best right-handed hitting power prospect, behind C Jesus Montero, 1B Gerardo Rodriguez, and OF Jose Tabata.
