The Great American Oden Bidding War of '11
This is pretty straightforward. The Blazers feel Oden hasn't done enough to warrant a contract extension. Seems reasonable, though he's shown dim flashes of stardom in the 32 seconds he's been on the floor in his first 2 years...
Jordan's Prediction Means...
Found these comments from Jordan on HOOPSWORLD, with the full read at the Charlotte Observer...
Gilbert Arenas is Ready to Go ... Buy or Sell Ladies & Gentlemen?
He's shoving it in the Wizard's organization's face. & the media's. & the fans. In the utmost falsely-diplomatic fashion, he has made it clear & clearer & clearerest. He wants out ASAP & the Wiz have to be shopping him at an all-time low price.
What are your feelings on making him our PG? His contract & our desire to be under the payroll (so much to sacrifice possibly the best trading chip on the market) makes me think this isn't remotely possible... then again MJ & Kwame have crossed paths again, so for me absolutely nothing in life can be ruled out.
Matt Carroll's (__insert_adjective_here__) Display (I said "optimistic")
A Defense for Kwameazy (inspired by Diop's reply to milky C)
Excellent grilling of Diop about his summer regiment, Milky. You totally caught him off-guard, which just does not happen often at all & won't start happening this season. That he's in premium shape is reassuring that he has to improve on last year.
If Diop can turn the clocks back & find a way to give us two efficient stocks (steals + blocks, per Bill Simmons) in a quarter or so of play, we could develop a formidable defense...
...I don't mean to imply Diop would be any sort of anchor for us. I believe that opportunity falls on a fellow I know too well from his Los Angeles days - Kwameazy. Kwame & Diop on the court at the same time tastes sour initially, but it's becoming palatable as the delirium from a weekend on "The Trade" watch convinces me they actually should play well off each other, if & when...
now on to my mini-Brown breakdown.
New Jersey - Front Runner for 'Melo & It's Relation to Us
First off, why would they trade all their power forwards for 'Melo? Joe Smith is going to start at the 4? How is that appealing...
Second, if 'Melo comes to a lower-level team in the East like the NJ Nyets, does that put our playoff positioning or even hopes in danger?
Accorinding to a gentleman-scholar's poll on here that estimated who will make the playoffs, we are again in the range of the 7th seed. Would 'Melo heading East alter that significantly?

Training camp is close people! So why not take a look back & remember the 'Cats of the past that earned those highly-coveted starting roles for game 1 each year...

The general consensus is that Augustin isn't a starter, but why?
(DA -- From the FanPosts)
I didn't get a chance to see enough Bobcats games last year to break down D.J. Augustin's game, honestly, so I'm curious - what areas of the game is he so ineffective in?
Yeah, he's not the biggest, fastest, or smartest PG, but he definitely has the necessary tools to be legit. So is it his perimeter or on-ball D? His inability to break down defenses? Or is it a general floor awareness issue? I haven't been able to pick out one area, but I have been excited for D.J. to tap that potential & disprove the doubters across the league for a while.
Seems like a bummer so far. I watched D.J. light it up at Texas time and time again all over the court. We need mojo like that from everyone to compete with the Miami LeBrick Shames this year! So what does D.J. really need to improve to become legitimate?

Right? Dude is a stud at PG. how do we get him?? do we dangle expiring contracts, give up more draft picks if we have any left this decade..., set up a multi-team trade?
Forward vision!
Even though our initial playoff series has started rough, the problems seem very solvable. Our offense obviously needs help, a dead-eye shooter wouldn't hurt. A little more help with Dwight Howard & other bigs is always a plus too.
'Cats Big Man Trade
I keep hearing that Augustin might be on the move, then A
There have been several names listed out there the Bobcats could pick up for the needed frontline depth. I've heard Big Baby [Celtics], Jason Thompson [Kings], Brendan Haywood [Wizards], & Tyrus Thomas [Bulls] so far.. who do you think would help us most? I'd love to see us snag Haywood, but with everything goin on with that organization, I doubt they'll take on anything but expiring contracts. Here's my crazy ideato get Haywood, & even a couple expiring contracts http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yzssuoo
