Hammer and Rails Updated Scout 2013 rankings

Updated 2013 Rankings

Kendell Is up to 49 in the rankings and Bryson is at 54. Oh, and take a look at Willis. He's all the way down to 91! Love that. He won't get any PT down there at Kentucky the way they have been rolling with recruiting the last few years. Hopefully Basil blows up this summer and gets into the Top 100. I hope Painter finds another guy in the 100, like Power Forward or a Center. Things are looking good...

Drake Transfer mentions Purdue:

Drake transfer Rayvonte Rice, a 6-foot-4 shooting guard, is considering Illinois among a number of other schools, according to his former AAU coach Mike Weinstein.

Weinstein said Rice is looking at Illinois, Kansas State, Marquette, Missouri, Nebraska, Purdue, Virginia, USC and Xavier as possible destinations after announcing recently he will transfer after his sophomore season at Drake. Rice, who played at Centennial High School in Champaign, Ill., averaged 16.5 points and 5.7 rebounds this season for Drake.

"He wants to play on a bigger stage," Weinstein said Tuesday. "He wants to get better. He’s excited about it."

Weinstein said Rice is trying to narrow his choices and determine which schools to visit.

Hammer and Rails Boiler Up

Robbie goes 1st team all big team. Lew Jack is an honorable mention. DJ Byrd gets the 6th man of the year. http://btn.com/2012/03/05/get-the-2011-12-all-big-ten-hoops-teams/

Over all not too bad. I was surprised that Meyers Leonard was an honorable mention, especially if he goes in the 1st round of the draft next year. Jordan Taylor was 1st team which was also a surprise to me...he had a down year no doubt.

Feb. 01, 2012 9:32 p.m. - by Phil Friend - Painter to go with small-ball vs. Indiana
Coach Matt Painter expects to use his small-ball offense, with F Robbie Hummel playing C surrounded by four Gs -- D.J. Byrd, Terone Johnson, Ryne Smith and Lewis Jackson -- against Indiana on Saturday. "Sometimes it’s best to focus in on your team and have (opponents) adjust to you," Painter said.

Hammer and Rails Alexander and White - 2014 Recuits

Scout lists thsee guys a Purdue recruits for 2014... with Paul White having an offer but not Alexander. In a recent article about the Whitney Young Shootout recap, they don't mention Purdue.

*Cliff Alexander claims offers from Michigan State, Illinois, DePaul, Iowa, Wisconsin, Ohio State, Michigan, Tennessee, Indiana, Florida State, Providence, and Louisville. He's also recently heard from Kentucky, Miami and Marquette.

*Paul White claims offers from Arizona, Missouri, Ohio State, De Paul, Illinois, Northwestern, Providence, Xavier, and Iowa. Baylor and Michigan have also recently been in-touch.

With AJ coming from Whitney Young, hopefully he can help recruit White and fellow teammate Jahil Okafor (#2 prospect) to Purdue.

Hammer and Rails Is LewJack hurt?

How hurt is lewjack? They talked about his back but is his foot bothering him again? He seemed extremely slow on Saturday vs Michigan St. Maybe it was the travel mess that they went through, but he seemed really off. He could not get around his guy and the D wasn't very good either, which typically is a sign that he's not healthy. I hope that if he is banged up, that they rest him for a game or too. Give GDB and TJ some opps at the point. This Michigan game coming up is a big deal...this could be the make or brake for the tourney if they continue to struggle down the final month.

Hammer and Rails For Real?  C'mon

I don't think you should take too much time watching this, but before tonights game, I thought it would be funny.  These guys are rediculous...I mean, for real?  Hopefully they'll be as soft and this video tonight and Purdue will take care of some business.

Boiler UP!  Buckeyes will be tough tonight, but if we can make our shots and Carroll and Barlow play well on the D end and rebound, we'll make it a game.  It's never easy on someone elses home court.

Hammer and Rails 1st Ever College GameDay at Purdue

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - ESPN's College GameDay, driven by State Farm, will make its first-ever appearance at Mackey Arena on Jan. 22 to shine a national spotlight on Purdue University and the Boilermakers' showdown with Big Ten rival Michigan State.

All Boilermaker fans are encouraged to come out to Mackey for the GameDay festivities to help make the experience memorable for both Purdue and ESPN. Doors will open to Paint Crew members at 7:45 a.m. ET, and the general public will begin entering at 8 a.m. ET.

Admission is free for the GameDay experience, but fans must wear black to be permitted to sit in the lower bowl. All fans, regardless of seating location, are asked to wear black.

"ESPN and State Farm do a tremendous job with College GameDay, and we've been eager for the opportunity to host the show at Mackey Arena," Purdue head coach Matt Painter said. "Hosting GameDay is an honor that has been given to some of the nation's top programs over the last six years, and we're excited to be part of that group. College GameDay will be a showcase of our program and our university, and we're looking forward to creating a memorable experience for everyone involved."

College GameDay will once again feature show host Rece Davis with analysts Jay Bilas, Digger Phelps, Hubert Davis and Bob Knight.

Early arrival at Mackey is encouraged, as the crew will start live SportsCenter hits at 9 a.m. ET leading into the new first hour of College GameDay that airs on ESPNU (10-11 a.m. ET). The show will move to ESPN for the 11 a.m.-noon hour.

The GameDay lineup also includes Saturday Primetime, a one-hour show that will commence at 8 p.m. ET as the Boilermakers prepare to square off with the Spartans at 9 p.m. ET.

Hammer and Rails Decent article giving JJ and Etwaun some props...I wish people would quit talking about Hummel.

More good pub for our Boilers.  I'm not sure why they failed to mention JJ as a soon to be All-American, but soon they'll all be talking about it.  We should win both games this week...let's up for a few top 10 teams to go down so we can jump into the Top 10 in both polls.  Boiler Up!

Hammer and Rails Amir Williams

ESPNU 100 center Amir Wiliams has narrowed his choices down to five schools, according to Detroit Country Day assistant coach Fred Massey.

The 6-foot-10 Williams will decide between Purdue, Michigan, Ohio State, Florida and DePaul. He will visit Purdue on Oct. 30, where injured forward Robbie Hummel will be his host. That will be followed by trips to Michigan on Nov. 5 and Ohio State on Nov. 12.

"Coming down the homestretch, Purdue, Ohio State and Florida are looking strong," said ESPN.com's Dave Tele

WOW!  Ohio State has to be close to running out of offers.  DePaul?  C'mon.  Michigan, well he is from Michigan, but other than staying close to home, I don't know.  Florida?  Really?  Haven't they fell off the map?  Purdue?  Yes!  He visits next weekend and Hummel will show him around.  Our 2011 front court recruits would be 6'8'', 6'7'' and 6'9''.  Then if someone Randle shows up, I'm not sure what we would do.  Also, why aren't we going after PG - Ryan Boatright?  He just decommitted  from Wes t Virginia.

Hammer and Rails OH NO!!!! Dawson to MSU!!!

Can this be true???  I sure hope not.  Unreal...anyone have any other info?  We need Randle to commit, then put the full court press on Chane Behanan.  If we can't land them, we better not settle for another like Bade.  Let's also try and get our 2012 class another stud.  Hale is going to be a beast...let's get some guys like him.  WTF!!!!
