Bereavement: Graveheart, the Update, wherein celebrities die in fives

(Note: A lot has happened since the star of Star Search became a Star Man, but Johnny Carson's favorite drunken Irishman is what I had to start with, so I'll dance with the corpse that brung me....

RR Bereavement Pool rosters

This is a little rudimentary as I just haven't found time to make a proper post. There are 21 participants this year, meaning the winner will receive $180, with $20 going to second place and $10...

Brian B's wife is one morbid lady: The Bereavement Pool, Season 1, final standings

It's all over, and nothing has changed since my last post a week or so ago, so I'm ready to finalize the standings. Congrats again to Brian B's wife. She tied for the league lead in hits (4) and...

Bereavement Pool: The Final Update

Many buckets have been kicked since the last update, boosting Brian B's wife into the lead and boobs' roommate potentially onto the podium. Harold Pinter (Red Menace, Man Mountain and Alan) and ...

Bereavement Pool Update: Stayin Alive

We're entering the home stretch, but there's been a whole lotta livin' goin on. Since my last update on July 16, only 2 entries have croaked: Estelle Getty (3 fast) and Paul Newman (ctnyc), both...

40 minutes to go

The Reds are apparently just waiting for a call from Yonder Alonso. Hold your breath.

Jim Callis of Baseball America discusses picks, including Alonso

Jim Callis thinks Alonso will definitely sign by Friday. If he doesn't Callis says, he will lose all his leverage next year after his senior season. Another interesting nugget: If the Reds don't sign Alonso, they will get the No. 8 pick next year, but if they don't sign that pick, then they lose it. So we would then lose our leverage. Both sides need to sign by Friday's deadline. (Callis comes on around the 19-minute mark and discusses Alonso around 29-30 minutes.)

Griffey accepts the trade

More deets here

This game, that thread

The Reds took the lead back on a clutchtastic slap by Valentin. 8-6.

This game, this thread

The Reds padded the lead with a flat-out triple. 5-2.

Game thread III

Two in a row, this feels like. Wrong I am, I hope.

True Red QueenCity: Game thread II

Come on guys. Spend some time here. We're fun too. Honest!

Reds win 4-3: If it weren't for the sixth inning, this game would have been almost perfect

Still, we've won four in a row and face a couple really exciting pitching matchups the next two days: Harang vs. Fausto, and Voltron vs. Cliff Lee in a battle of the AL and NL ERA leaders. It...

By now many of you have seen the "Costas Now" segment in which Buzz Bissinger, longtime Philadelphia journalist and author of Friday Night Lights, and Costas berate Deadspin's Will Leitch. If you...

Game 29 Thread Part II: Reds down by 5, 3-2

One on, top 7.

Reds lose again wrap/open thread

Can't say I'm surprised we didn't win this one, but the final score was a lot closer than what the game seemed. There's really not much offense outside our 3-7 hitters, and when half your hitters...

Game 17 Thread: Brewers at Reds

Anyone who wasn't listening to Marty, here's a fun trivia question: Name the four players whose last names start with 'F' that have hit 50 home runs in a season.

Game 17 Thread: Brewers at Reds

Darren Hauck/AP (Sheets), Keith Srakocic/AP (Arroyo)     Their ace -- who has started the season in top form -- vs. our (let's be honest: former) No. 2 starter who...
