An Open Letter to Jake
Jake - You can't win. The Devil Rays have always sucked and you have no basis for an argument. Prospects don't make a club! And, I have to disagree with Eric -- I don't think the Devil Rays know how to draft one bit! A helmet wearing, drool cup carrying moron can manage their team to last place every year and end up drafting the #1 pick year in, year out! They do absolutely nothing with the rest of their picks, and quite frankly Elijah Dukes is despicable human - and Young and Upton cried their way to the majors! They don't exactly help their clubs (errors, strikeouts) they just happen to get a hit once in a while, albeit out of the park sometimes.......
Nor do they know how to hang on to players. Andrew Miller (opted out and went back to school) - Mike Pelfrey (re-drafted) -- among others!
Baldelli isn't exactly turning out to be a gem, Huff never won them anything - they couldn't even manage to trade the guy before the deadline in his free agent year.
In fact, everyone is a bust! Crawford too! How the hell can you say Crawford, Huff, Hall and anyone else that's entered their system legitimizes them as a ball club - THEY'RE IN LAST EVERY YEAR! They can't fill their seats, noone routes for them but Jake, their uniform colors and logos show up on the twisted heads of gangsta's more often than baseball fans, and the words "Tampa Bay Devil Rays" show up on every short list of no-trade clauses!!
That is despicable!!!!!!!!!! And, routing for them makes you a terrorist! Happy Halloween!!
Signed,
The Boogeyman

How about answering a trade email?

Just to fill in the minimum # of characters required for this ridiculous diary system! If you don't have enough they won't let you post!
What makes an Expert?
I've recently been derided, and my blog 2nd classed, because I didn't win my league this year (or at least finish above the commenter). I think the guy who won has a remarkable knack for winning at fantasy anything, and when he picks up guys like Brian Bannister for free and I mortgage the farm for pitchers like Jeremy Bonderman and Eric Gagne, he wins by a 15 point margin over the 2nd place team!! I end up in 4th - tied with the 5th place team after leading much of the first half and then droppin' like a rock.
That said, I've fielded several derogatory remarks about blogging and winning - more like "I bet your readers don't want you know you finished 5th!"
What are your thoughts about that?
Bleacher Creatures
I asked Eric a couple days ago to post a quick blurb on my Bernie Williams post regarding the Bleacher Creatures. Here's the link:
The Fantasy Baseball Guy, Paul Greco, Kirk Bouyelas, Football Die Hards and President of the FSWA, and Brad Stewart at MLB Front Office have joined my Bernie Williams movement.
If you click over to read the article, be sure to go back to the main page - I've posted another quick blurb with a You Tube link.
We've also got some good spring notes up and an article on the Tout Wars AL Only Draft.

"Ooops I did it again ... "
You can hum the rest of the song as you read a different twist on Fantasy Baseball strategy as interpreted by the blogging communities award winning columnist and oft controversial Internet bad boy!
Do you believe GM'ing a fantasy baseball team is much like running a business? Or, is this industry (and I define industry as your individual situation and league) so volatile that most strategies apply very little and you're going to run your team without much influence from other GM's interpretation of players and market conditions?
Let me know ...
Bernie Williams to the A's?
Mark Kotsay's ailing back has held him out of Spring Training to this point. He's currently on a plane to Los Angeles to get a second opinion.

Bernie Williams would fit in nicely in Oakland. They could get him plenty of rest sliding Milton Bradley over to CF (when he's not on the DL too) and starting Nick Swisher in RF.
This would enable them to carry Dan Johnson, as well. Giving them a fair amount of good bats in the lineup.
Thoughts?
Melky Cabrera & Boogey Blog
What a site! The Boogey Blog predicted a Curt Schilling extension and it is imminent, and now they're predicting a Melky Cabrera trade.
Visit www.boogeyblog.com/?p=156 for more details.
The report over at boogeyblog.com suggests an imminent Melky Cabrera trade. According to Rotoworld, the Yankees pulled Melky prior to the Carribean World Series and told him to take a rest.
The Boogey Blog suggests they're getting ready to trade him.
What do you think?
Zobrist the next Tyner????
On Wednesday December 20th I discussed in detail the Upton/Zobrist saga.
Now I know defense is also important. Just ask the Twins Jason Bartlett. He's by no means an offensive threat, but a necessary defensive asset.
But, how can anyone, even the Devil Ray fans, be excited about a guy like this. Zobrist's scouting report reads like this:
ASSETS: Has good baseball instincts and works hard. Boasts good plate discipline and runs well, though he's not a big base-stealer. Steady switch-hitter and good defensive shortstop.
FLAWS: Doesn't have any standout tools, with lackluster power and mediocre run-producing skills.
CAREER POTENTIAL: Projects as a utility infielder.
Isn't there someone at the local High School better than Zobrist? Let me tell you - Tampa Bay will NEVER beat out the Yankees and Red Sox to win a pennant. EVER! Why not tolerate the 50 - 60 errors Upton will commit if he's as dazzling at offense as projected. The cheeks will be in the seats nightly to watch him - especially over the prospect of watching Zobrist.
It's should be all about money for TB right now - not Wins!
Elijah Dukes
From this site I've heard adjectives like "elite", "sleeper", "dominating". He's been suspended for 30 games by the D-Rays, has had several run-ins with the law, argues with coaches and rants on the ownership whenever humanly possible.
"I think dukes' problems get exacerbated by the fear doughy middle-age white guys have when they see a big, intimidating black man" - faketeams.com circa December 2006.
Despite his obvious talent as a baseball player, the boogeyman sticks by his original assessment of Faketeams so called elite #3 minor league pick (if he was available in the minor league draft this year). Faketeams doesn't care to acknowledge the very real human side of this tragic story (see Josh Hamilton bio).
Dukes is far from being elite. Dukes is far from being anything but a 22 year old kid who has no life direction and a clear case of ADD (hates authority, can't focus, etc.). I'm certain this happens in minor league baseball a lot more often than we know about.
Fortunately, my original assessment of the Dukes bust has recently been validate by none other than Dukes himself. Busted Monday for Marijuana possession, Dukes was apparently riding around town smokin' weed in his pimp ride, blasting rap music loud enough to force police to arrest him.
This isn't the behaviour of an ELITE, DOMINATING, SLEEPER ranked as high as #3 on the Faketeams AL Minor Leaguers list. This is a punk who will get thrown out of Tampa Bay by the doughy white guys that have given him every opportunity to succeed while he treats them like a black man that hates white people.
By by Dukes, nice knowing you - I'm glad I don't own you!!!
New League
I'd like to form an AL-only or NL-only 4x4 league in the CT/MA/RI/NH area.
It would be a live draft at a house/bar. Keeper league, two round minor league draft.
$150 Entry.
