ESPN List Show Last Night
So last night I was watching ESPN. It was a list show of sorts, I'm not too familiar with it, as I had never seen it before, but I imagine it was somewhat akin to that 30 minute sports list show that FOX Sports Net has with Summer Sanders.
Anywho, so this ESPN list show was of the 20 greatest dunkers of all time. And guess who made the list as number 5? That's right, Mr Drexler himself, the Glyde, was listed as the number 5 dunker of all time. FIVE! Pretty high if you ask me, but regardless. They had Wilkins, and other old NBA players talking about his college days, and the finesse he had with Portland. It was pretty awesome.
But, the only reason I mention it was that when they showed clips, and highlights of Drexler's dunks, 99% of the footage showcased him either in college, or in a Blazer's jersey. There was one photo of him in a Rocket's jersey (and it was of him attempting a lay up, and it was only on tv for a couple seconds), but other than that, it was mostly all Blazers.
So, anyways, I just saw this whole thing about Drexler on tv, and thought it was nice that such an extended piece was done on him on his playing days, and there were really no mention of anything post-Portland. It sets my mind at piece that in the long term, he will be remembered for his time in Portland, and not for his time with the Rockets. I know, it's silly, but I still, I would rather that the world thing of him as Portland's best player, instead of a guy that spent some time in Portland, and won a championship in Huston.
I know. I am a sap. It's Valentines day, get over yourselves!
