Its Insider-only but it basically says that Glaus has gone out and gotten a new physical to give to teams proving his health. It also says he's open to play 1B full time. Could this be our power bat?

Source: Braves Sign Wagner

http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/10460524/Source:-Braves,-closer-Wagner-agree-to-deal

Well, that didn't take long at all did it? The deal is reportedly for 1yr/$7MM with a vesting option at 50 games finished for $6.5MM. This obviously fills one of our bullpen slots with one of the most effective relievers in history. So, what do you guys think of our new closer? And I need a few more words, so GO BRAVES and GO WAGNER!

It would take a lot to get him, but I'd be willing to make the calculated risk necessary to bring him to Atlanta.

A little help?

Braves fan here (obviously),

I'm in a "MLB Preview Competition" over at Braves-Nation.com and was wondering if I could get some assistance from you guys. We each had to draft a team and argue why they are the best in MLB and when my pick rolled around, I picked the Tribe. If y'all don't mind, I'd like to ask you a few questions, such as:

  1. Will DeRosa be at 3B or 2B
  2. Will Martinez be your primary 1B?
  3. How's the bench/bullpen look?
  4. Which rookies will be making a big impact on the team this year?

I pretty much know the basics of your team, but I'd like to get a little more in-depth to get the upper hand on my competition. What better way to do that then to go directly to the source?

So, can you help me out?

Rule V Draft Eligible

Just figured I'd get this list out there for us to reference. These are the Braves prospects that will be eligible to be taken in the Rule V Draft unless they're placed on the 40-man roster:

Derrick Arnold
J.C. Boscan
Phillip Britton
Jose Camarena
Eric Campbell
Greg Creek
Quentin Davis
Bryan Dumesnil
Reid Gorecki
Diory Hernandez
J.C. Holt
Sung Jung
Kala Kaaihue
Carl Loadenthal
Stephen Marek
Ernesto Mejia
Brad Nelson
Jon Mark Owings
James Parr
Van Pope
Todd Redmond
Jonathon Rouwenhorst
Zach Schreiber
Yohan Silva
Scott Thorman
Wes Timmons
Chris Vines
Matt Young

I think we're safe with most of these guys, but Schreiber, Redmond, and Marek probably need to be protected. What do you guys think?

One more trade?

So with the recent final roster cuts it seems like we have a bench consisting of:

Corky Miller

Brayan Pena

Martin Prado

Ruben Gotay

Gregor Blanco

So I was thinking, just where is this "feared pinch-hitter" at? Sure Gotay can hit for a high average, but he's not 'feared" Clutch as hell maybe, but not feared. Because of this I pose these questions: Where is this one last trade coming from? Who is it with? Who are we giving up? And or course, who are we getting? I think Thorman, Pena, Prado, Blanco, Ring, and a few others are out there as possible trading chips. Maybe its Marcus Thames from Detroit, they need a back-up catcher and bullpen help. Maybe the partner is Chicago, I get the feeling Cubs fans aren't really high on Theroit or Cedeno. Regardless by 3:00 PM today the final 25-man rosters have to be set, so I just gotta know, where's the trade?
