It aint easy being a Braves fan in NY, but after being an 8 year old kid watching Sid slide in safely, there was no turning back. Other loves aside from the Bravos include music (play bass and sing in a sweet band Bobs Kitchen) quoting obscure lines from movies, a good book, playing the hot corner on various softball teams, intelligent exotic women, long walks on the beach, scented candles burning deep into the night, comic books and nintendo games....

So yesterday was my Bday, and my ladyfellow got me this incredible gift. It is a Braves wallet, and on the inside is a piece of an actual game used jersey. It then gives you a tracking number to find out what game its from, and who wore the jersey.

Mine was worn by Chipper Jones on May 29, 2010 against the Pirates at the Ted. He had a damn fine day, going 1 for 2 with 2 walks, a run scored and a SB. Heyward also hit his 10th double and HR during the game. Braves won 6-3

This is an amazing gift, and just wanted to pass this along for anyone to include on their wishlists

This article is purely speculation, but an interesting scenario. Seems like alot to give up for 3 months of Dunn, unless we would be able to hammer out an extension....

Talking Chop A little help from my Friends...

Hey guys and gals, I had a quick question to see if any of you homers could help sway my decision. I'm in a Head to head fantasy league, with 3 keepers. My first two choices were simple, Matt Kemp and Tim Lincecum. My third choice is a little more difficult...

I am torn between keeping Grady Sizemore, or Brian Mccann. I have a feeling both are due for monster seasons, Grady will bounce back to close to 30-30 numbers, and Heap, well, dudes a beast. There are no penalties for K's, and i know for a fact that either will be gone when its my pick (last pick, as I am reigning champ, thanks very much) I also have Hanson to throw his name in the ring, but I could prob grab him up later.

Well Chop Talkers, what do you think? Who to keep? Sizemore? Mac? Whats your thoughts?

It seems the Commish is assembling a crack squad of respected superhumans to review such things as instant replay, and other on field issues. Our very own John Schuerholz will be a memeber...

Talking Chop Schafer injured?

Heres what I just read:

From the The Sports Xchange: Center fielder Jordan Schafer clearly earned his spot on the season-opening roster and in the starting lineup. But he never spent a day at Triple-A and he missed 50 games at Double-A last season because of an HGH suspension. Add to the fact he had never played in any major league park until this season or faced that many major league pitchers (other than those he saw in limited innings in spring training) and there are going to be growing pains. That would be in addition to an actual pain: Word is Schafer hurt his left wrist to some degree during the opening series in Philadelphia, but he won't talk about it.

well, shit

Talking Chop Check this out....

I was cruising down the information superhighway and found this gem. Thought you guys might want to take a look, Its a signed Braves jersey from the start of Spring Training, complete with about 3 or 4 future Hall of Famers signatures. I questioned the authenticity, as there are no pictures or certificates, but it looks pretty legit. Some lucky bastard walked away with this for a song and a dance. Take a looksee....

Talking Chop Looking Beyond the '09 season

It will be intresting to see who the Braves will eventually get as their frontline starter this year, but I was curious to see who would be on the market next year if we again have some money to play with.

Brandon Backe HOU
Miguel Batista SEA
Josh Beckett * BOS
Erik Bedard SEA
Chris Capuano MIL
Jose Contreras CWS
Doug Davis ARZ
Justin Duchscherer OAK
Adam Eaton * PHI
Kelvim Escobar LAA
Rich Harden CHC
Tim Hudson * ATL
John Lackey LAA
Cliff Lee * CLE
Jason Marquis CHC
Mark Mulder STL
Brett Myers PHI
Vicente Padilla * TEX
Brad Penny LAD
Joel Pineiro STL
Jason Schmidt LAD
John Smoltz ATL
Claudio Vargas NYM
Jarrod Washburn SEA
Brandon Webb * ARZ
Todd Wellemeyer STL

Some good names there, some real mediocre ones as well. Webb, Lackey and Escobar jump out at me. If our choices for a starter are limited, maybe we could sock away some cash for the likes of these fellows.......
