Per MLBTradeRumors.com The "Under the Radar" Arms could be Nick Masset or Brandon League
From a chat transcript with mlbtraderumors.com's Ben Nicholson-Smith
| 3:15 | [Comment From Bobby Cox] There is a rumor Braves are in hot spot of an "under the radar arm"....any idea who this might by? |
| 3:16 | No clue. Here are two guesses: Brandon League and Nick Masset. Both would cost a lot and have a big impact this year and beyond, when Gonz/Soriano could be gone |
Obviously this is pure speculation. Like he said they could help us out this year and in the future, after Soriano and Gonzo may be gone.

Luke Scott?
http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2009/07/trade-candidates-outfielders.html
New arcticle of Mlbtraderumors.com lists him as a possible outfilerlder that we could be interested in. I've said it before and I'll say if again...what is stopping us from trading for this guy. He's having a breakout year hitting .304 with 17 bombs and 50 rbis and is only making 2.4MM this year and won't be a free agent until after 2012. His defense may not be on par with francoeurs but his bat is much better. I think he DH's a lot but that may be because the orioles have 3 better fielders in reimold, markakis and jones. Probably wouldnt take much to get this guy. What do y'all think?

Pitching
With all the talk about who we are going to get when we trade ohman and tex i think its important to think about what kinds of prospects we are going to get. Many teams these days like the yankees red sox and mets for instance shell out big bucks to build high powered offenses. Well as we all know pitching wins championships as evidenced by the braves teams of the 90's. Good pitching beats good hitting so even if these teams have great lineups i think they could be beat consistently by a team with 3 very solid starters and an average lineup with a good bat like chipper in the middle. So with this being said i think when we trade teixera and ohman away which i think is looking more and more likely, we should look to get some solid pitching prospects as opposed to getting someone like casey kotchman or james loney. Now I know at some point we are gonna need some run production from one place or another but i think we need to focus on our rotation because right now beyond jurrgens and hudson there is not a lot of inconsistency.

Interesting scenario
Here is an idea that was brought to my attention that i thought was pretty interesting. I know a lot of work was put into converting kelly johnson to a second baseman, but what if we were to move him back to left field filling that hole. If we did this it would create another hole at second but i think the players that we have ready to fill in there are better at that position than the ones we have filling in in the outfield. We could then use lillibridge gotay infante at 2nd which i think makes more sense. What do yall think.

Braves could have had Felix Hernandez
Here's the article.

Pretty sickening to think about. We almost had him. Actually I'm quite surprised we didn't get him with our reputation for finding talent down there. It's crazy that he was scouted that young but i guess that's how they do it down there. Honestly I would love to know what they saw at that age that prompted three big league teams to bid for him. Would have been nice to have him, That would be a nasty rotation.
