Saw Will Clark knock out a game-winning homer at the tender age of ten while attending my first Giants game. Been hooked ever since. Now a teacher (among other side professions, and no, that's dirty, get your mind out of the gutter) in Santa Barbara, deep in enemy territory.

OT: Assistance with gif creation/posting?
A few of you were very helpful earlier this summer in pointing me in directions for editing a clip I have from a game I attended this summer. I'd love to make a gif of it still and got a bit stuck. I'm feeling the time pressure because I don't have a DVR; only what I can access through mlbtv.com, and that will likely disappear as ST begins for this season. More details after the jump...
My three favorite "Life imitates baseball" moments of the offseason so far...
'Tis the season...the offseason, that is.
A time when we all pine for longer days, pacing in front of broken televisions while screaming at the radio and bloodyhellwhywon'ttheinternetupdatethisdamngamefaster, relishing every bittersweet moment as Your San Francisco Giants do their best to overcome every obstacle the front office can inflict upon them the other teams can bring to the field.
Perhaps, like me, you want spring to be here so badly that you start to see baseball where it isn't. Or at least, isn't usually. Lemme 'splain after the jump:
Any help making gifs or screenshots off mlbtv.com?
I was at the game tonight (7/14 vs. Padres) and had a doublesided sign about my birthday and "Grab some pine, meat!" I was lucky enough to be onscreen during the Giants broadcast at least twice that I know of, though I'll probably re-watch the game when I'm not so tired. Any tips on how to immortalize these moments of glory for posterity (and possibly even use here?) Details on what I have and what specifics I know after the jump...
Advice for 6/25 game vs. Cleveland?
So I'm taking my high school youth group to work in the Tenderloin to help clean up the area, do some repainting in places that need it, feed the homeless at Glide, etc. and this game will be their reward for a week's worth of hard work. We're a group of 14, and half of them have never been to a Giants game, a few have never been to a MLB game of any team, and we'll be hanging out in section 315 behind home plate. Any ideas on how to make the day special (you know, besides the Giants winning?) Specific questions after the jump...
The Effects of TSFGWTWS have spread south...
As some of you long-time readers know, I teach theater and English at a junior high school in Southern California. I was delighted to discover last fall that there were several kids in Giants caps wandering our halls. Sure, some of them were bandwagon-ers, but it's junior high! Why not start a beautiful love relationship with our favorite baseball team?
But what I overheard before the start of rehearsal yesterday made me glow inside:
Giants Fan Kid: Dude, we're going all the way this year, we're gonna win the World Series AGAIN, baby! Best record in spring training right now, just like last year!
Local Yokel/"Dodgers Fan" Kid: No way, the Dodgers are gonna come back and kill the Giants this year!
Giants Fan Kid: *pauses, looks Dodgers fan straight in the eye, and says (after the jump).....*

Donations for Padre losses gladly accepted!
So my in-laws are die-hard Padres fans because they all have lived in San Diego practically since the franchise started. I have slowly but surely begun the conversion process on my wife; she claims to root for both teams unless they are playing each other, but she also LOVES Aubrey Huff, for many of the sexy-in-a-baseball-way reasons that female McCoven have listed elsewhere on this site.
Recently, her parents went on a ten day trip for their anniversary, and the Padres promptly lost ten straight while they were gone. They returned yesterday, and said losing streak was snapped.
Anyone interested in contributing to see how long we can get them to go on vacation in September? This week, perhaps?

For PTBNL and cash.
I has a sad.
As many have suggested, I would have loved to have seen the guy have more of a chance, but I guess it just wasn't meant to be.
Any takers on whom we would hope to get in the transaction? Or is it better to just hold out for cash and use wishful thinking toward driving down the cost of an average dynamically priced ticket?
