Russell Wilson or Lillard?? Who is Paul Allen's guy.....

Who is the keeper for his team for Uncle Paul? If one had to go which one would be the keeper for him....I wonder?

For that matter, which team may he favor Blazers or Seahawks? The Seahawks have got him to the Super Bowl while the Blazers have floundered in first round only territory when they have made the playoffs most years. Now both teams figure to be on the way up with dynamic leaders at the PG and QB positions. who ya like?

Needle Movers?

I don't see any form this summer's activity from Olshey. New starter in his prime to grow up with our core of LA, Nic and Wesley? Don't see that guy either.

The Summer of Cap Space and Flexibility has, to this point, not been too significant.

Claver and Freeland we had all along, Olshey just brought them over.

JJ Hickson was a scrap heap hold over, and is a one year guy. Jared Jeffries is similar stop-gap. Ronnie Price same.

We drafter by both need and maybe best player available, but Barton, Lillard and Leonard should not be depended on to carry the team the next year or two.....obviously Lillard has pretty big expectations on him as Olshey dubbed him with the "franchise PG" tag and did not acquire anyone to seriously compete or be a Day One PG for the Blazers.

I don't see any needle movers in the Coaching hit list either.

Addition by subtraction? Not what too many Blazer fans had in mind for this summer I bet. Neil the Salesman just did the ol bait and switch on us.

Glass Half Empty

Its starting to feel like the Blazers may be on the outside looking in a week form today...many of the good Paln B and C guys are getting snapped up. We may be picking off the scrap heap again unless Olshey can do some real wheeling and dealing-which may not be a good thing when it comes to his favorite key words: "sustainability" and "asset acquisition".

If Indy matches Hibbert, we have a real issue at the C position. Blazers potential plan B guy - Hawes - just resigned with Philly. Asik is on his way to Houston, Thabeet to OKC and that leaves some real garbage available in the FA pool. It may be Chris Kaman time at a way bigger number than he's worth or Blazers want to pay....or a trade.

Even worse at PG. Lillard has been tagged "franchise" by Olshey. Does that mean he starts game one/day one? When I hear "franchise" thats what I think. We know any FA Points are dropping like flies....we never had a shot at the big boys, but Dragic is going to the Suns; Billups won't want to play mentor on this team and, much like Center position, very little desireable crumbs left in FA market (you don't want Jameer Nelson playing here, unless you liked Felton last year)....that leaves trade possibilities and no up and comer or Vet worth his salt wants to come in to a team with their "franchise" PG in place.

Batum situation is even more bizarre. His Agent is clearly in an unfamiliar situation. Does MInny really want him or not? Can Ndaye play the public relations spin game and work it to his advantage? Blazers have no depth at SF/SG on the roster....and Batum is not worth $11 mil per year, especially if we lose out on Hibbert and Olshey feels like he needs to match Batum to save the summer. A sign and trade sceanario with Minny for Batum is only going to benefit the T-Wolves, as Love, Peckovic and Rubio would not be part of a deal and Derrick Williams and Ridnour could have been had for far less a few months ago. If they had a starting SF or SG on that roster, they wouldn't gbe going after Batum in the first place.

In addition to all the above we have no coach to sell to free agents, no depth at PF behind Lamarcus and nothing but young, unproven players who have little or no trade value. Standing pat, pulling the covers over your head and hoping the bad man goes away unitl 2013 is no good option either. Olshey is running out of players to try and entice as FA's/UFA's and any realistic trade scenario may involve the Blazers taking on another Raef LaFrenz-type contract or giving up too much future flexibilty to land a meaningful player or even a starter.

I think this kid is a great fit for this Blazer team. If he's there at #11 would you take him?

He can come in right away and give you minutes at PF and SF. He does all the little things you need: sets good solid picks, can defend the paint with his size and leaping ability, can run the break, step out and hit the occasional 3 ball, defend passing lanes and is a good and willing passer and can finish at the hoop strong. He filled up the stat sheet on two totally different UK teams. I dont see the attitude issues he had his frosh. year.

This guy can give you productive minutes and still has room to grow in FT % and maybe move that jumper out even futher and he's a local kid. I take him at #11 regardless of who we may take at #6, I think he's a safe pick and will be a solid pro.

I think this kid is a great fit for this Blazer team. If he's there at #11 would you take him?
