Saints Fan by birth, Bronco's Fan by choice.
As a kid I listened to the Saints from year one, the Paul Horning and Jimmy Taylor days, with my Dad on WWL radio (the home games were never sold out in the old Tulane stadium) but caught this interview on TV long ago. Bronco's DE Lyle Alzado (pre-Raider days, obviously) being interviewed, sitting on his sofa in his home in Colorado, in front of a roaring, two story rock-faced fireplace petting a wolf-dog. Being from the flattest and deepest of the Deep South and never having seen a wolf-dog or a two story fireplace or a rock for that matter, this image convinced me that Denver had to be the coolest place on earth and the Broncos had the most AWESOME players.

Tim Tebow is today's version of Seabiscuit
The public is particularly hungry for a good guy to root for and eager to see an underdog defy his critics.
Injured players.
No ability to audible.
Too sunny.
Too cloudy.
Bad music between plays.
Orange isn't our color.
Dog ate my playbook.
Let's get all of the excuses for the offense out of the way.
And now let's talk reality.
It lacked synchronization.
It lacked composure.
It lacked physicality.
That was a pathetic offensive effort on Sunday, more pathetic than the numbers say.
Of course, the problems started with the running game. The rushing yards marked the franchise's lowest total since at least 1960.
In their last 19 runs going back to last week, they have averaged 0.4 yards per carry.
Did we really want more handoffs?"I don't do the game plan," quarterback Jay Cutler said afterward.
Whither Goest McD, so to KO?
...or why KO may be worth a kings ransom. Assuming that McDaniels lands an OC job in the not to distant future, he has a proven record of going after the guy he wants and may just offer the house to get him. He spent one year with Cassel and probably would have given up Cutler for his guy. There are now three QBs in the NFL that know how to run a McD offense and one of them is Kyle Orton. Whether Orton is shopped or not, surely McD will come calling. Where will McD land and what would he offer?
Bears dismiss pro personnel director DePaul
Shanahan gone,Turner gone, DePaul gone, Lovie on the edge, Martz beware!
Three personnel executives from teams that remain on the Broncos' schedule said this week the difficulty in attacking the Broncos' defense is that their 3-4 scheme plays more like an old-school 5-2 against the run, closing down the line of scrimmage, and yet is able to get enough speed on the field in passing situations to cover the gapshttp://www.denverpost.com/premium/broncos/ci_13622778
...Orton has been the model of efficiency and near-perfection for a Broncos team that is 6-0 under coach Josh McDaniels, the first-year revelation who dared to unload Cutler and misses him now about as much as an unflushable toilet.

Forgive me but this is the image that kept coming to mind...
The Broncos are a better team without Jay Cutler.

Veteran tight end Desmond Clark, entering his seventh year playing home games at Soldier Field, was critical of the field in his blog in an entry titled "Our field is terrible.''
Last week we played on a field that was immaculate in Denver. We have only played one game at Soldier Field. We are basically the biggest market in the league and I say that because New York is split between two teams. Some of our opponents comments: "yall play on a cow pasture" "this is the [worst] field in the league"
Gang Green buzzing about impending Marshall trade.
O'Connell and picks for Marshall?
My Hatred Of Collinsworth Has Reached New Heights
It is 12 hours since the end of the game and I still feel my blood boil when I think of how NBC let Collinworth get up on his soap box to go on and on and on and on about Cutler. I watched the game muted for most of the third quarter just so that I didn't have to hear his voice. The final straw, '''if Shanahan was still coach I bet Cutler would still be QB and the worst of all ...this has got to be McDaniel's worst nightmare, watching Cutler go up and down the field...IT WAS ONE FREAKING DRIVE!!!!. And just how many *&%^&#$ cut-aways did the camera make to Cutler on the sideline deep into the forth quarter. No mention of how Brandstater was performing, nothing!
Will we (the True Bronco Faithful) be subjected to this week in and week out? If I hear the word Franchise or Pro-Bowl one more time my head will explode!
Sorry for the tirade but I am still completely pi$$ed.

The Win-Win Rules of Pre-Season
1. Always try the really long field goal - it will build confidence in the kicker or determine his maximum range or stess the defense by giving the opponent the short field
2. Never kick short field goals - if the guy can't hit from 20, he shouldn't be in camp
3. Always go for 2 - see #2 and why not use the chance to run the goal-to-go from the 1 play
4. Run 75% pass plays - pass plays are tougher to perfect, they involve everyone whereas running plays involve primarily the OL and the atheletic ability of one RB, also RBs get hurt on running plays
5. Never brag on mention stats, passer ratings, scores.

Air McNair's Influence on Vandy's Jay Cutler and Why Bus Cook
It appears that Jay Cutler's friendship and admiration for the playing style and toughness of Steve McNair probably influenced his style of play, which is actually quite similar, and most likely lead to him signing on with Bus Cook. The rest is history.
What a difference a Coach makes...
What's not to love about the guy(s) McDaniels picked to run his offense?
Josh McDaniels joined the Patriots on March 1, 2001 as a personnel assistant in the scouting department and assisted the defensive coaching staff for three seasons. He began serving as the Patriots' quarterbacks coach in 2004 and was named offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach on January 20, 2006.
Tom Brady: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/B/BradTo00.htm
Positives: Good height to see the field. Very poised and composed. Smart and alert. Can read coverages. Good accuracy and touch. Produces in big spots and in big games. Has some Brian Griese in him and is a gamer. Generally plays within himself. Team leader.
Negatives: Poor build. Very skinny and narrow. Ended the '99 season weighing 195 pounds and still looks like a rail at 211. Looks a little frail and lacks great physical stature and strength.
Can get pushed down more easily than you'd like. Lacks mobility and ability to avoid the rush. Lacks a really strong arm. Can't drive the ball down the field and does not throw a really tight spiral. System-type player who can get exposed if he must ad-lib and do things on his own.
Summary: Is not what you're looking for in terms of physical stature, strength, arm strength and mobility, but he has the intangibles and production and showed great Griese like improvement as a senior. Could make it in the right system but will not be for everyone.

As for his rookie success, Royal attributes it to hard work and preparation.
"I watched a lot of film and learned how to prepare for every game and how to take care of my body," he said. "In this game, to stay with the best, you have to practice hard and be ready to play on every down. As I told these kids, it's a test every day."
