OT: The Downfall of the MSM

I work in media relations and yesterday, one of my co-workers sent this video around this office. Needless to say, it was quite a hit. Since we sometimes talk about how the quality of the MSM falls more and more each day, I figured everyone here deserved a good laugh. This actually aired on WJW-TV in Cleveland.

So I saw that I'm not at the word minimum yet, so I'll wish everyone a happy and safe holiday weekend, and the lead contender for the name of our little guy is Jonathan. While Mr. BB stresses he is not being named after any athlete, should we go with Jonathan, I'll be happy he'll share the same name as one of the best athletes in UCLA history.

Betting on Next NCAA Violation

I caught this article in the Birmingham News over the weekend. Usually, I would never post anything from this guy because 1) he is your typical SEC blowhard who thinks they are God's gift to the NCAA and 2) he is sexist when it comes to women's sports. Nonetheless, I found some of this article amusing.

If you are one of those people who just can't seem to enjoy watching anything to do with sports unless you have some money riding on the outcome, here's one more piece of action for you:

An online sports betting service, USBet.com Sportsbook, posted odds last week on the schools most likely to commit the next NCAA violation.

And the winner:

Relax, Alabama fans. The Crimson Tide was not No. 1.

That honor went to the University of Southern California, with odds of 8-1. That's a pretty safe bet if by "most likely to commit the next NCAA violation" USBet.com really means "the next program most likely to be found guilty of major NCAA violations."

It would seem virtually impossible for the NCAA not to come up with something with which to charge USC, given the nature of the Reggie Bush-O.J. Mayo soap opera. But then again, the NCAA's crack enforcement staff apparently hasn't been able to come up with anything definitive on Bush in three years of trying, perhaps proving that there is no such thing as a sure bet.

If you would like to read the rest of the colum, click here.

Help Me Name My Kid

Yesterday, Mr. BB and I found out that we are expecting a boy in October. Since my gut had been telling me girl, I had more girl names picked out than boys, and my lead boy name (Matthew) does not seem to be on Mr. BB's list.

Therefore, why not have a little fun and take suggestions from my BN brothers and sisters. Who are your all-time favorite Bruins? Of course, there are some parameters:

1. In a perfect world, I would name my son after Mr. Aikman. However, we all know that his first name is about as anti-Bruin as you can get and Mr. BB refuses to have anything to do with the Dallas Cowboys.

2. We both have uncles named John, so it's out as a first name, but certainly in the running for the middle name (it was Mr. BB's grandfather's middle name and he was very close to him). Jack is also out as well.

3. Mr. BB would never hear of naming his son Cade, mostly because he played for the Bears (Mr. BB is a diehard Cheesehead) but there maybe some lingering jealousy that when we met, I told him I was going to marry Cade.

4. Aaron is also out because Mr. BB's sister is named Erin and I had an ex by that name.

5. Mr. BB is not crazy about William, so our son is probably not going to be named after Big Red.

So have some fun at our expense. I'm curious to see who you come up with, especially the Geezers.
