Another Proud Moment in Bruin Parenting

This is a true story. I swear to you.

Last night, Mr. BB and I were watching the Sunday Night football game on NBC when there was a commercial for the Jay Leno Show. I told Mr. BB that the football team had gone to the show last week and how Leno had said, "You can't spell suck without u-s-c." As God is my witness, as soon as I finished speaking, Jonathan gave me a huge smile, which then caused me to give a huge smile and tell him how happy he just made his mommy.

This parenting thing is easier when you have such a smart kid who already shows he bleeds blue and gold.

This might be one of his last pictured in this outfit. It's starting to get tight on him.

Bumping this post up because of the potential of a great thread. GO BRUINS. - N

This is a small story, but I figured I would follow up, since I did reach out to the BN community when this happened.

Some of you might remember last year when I was putting away my Christmas decorations, one of my UCLA decorations broke. It was the first one I ever bought at UCLA (I bought one every Christmas I was a student) and I was devestated, thinking that my collection would now always be incomplete.

On and off in 2009, I would look on Ebay to see if one would go up for sale. On Friday, I finally found it. I placed my bid and it is shipping out today!

Sometimes, you just get lucky.

For those of you who don't know, I am currently exiled in Birmingham while Mr. BB is working on his PhD in clinical psychology. Right now, he is on track to complete his dissertation in spring, then start internship summer 2010 to complete his education. As part of the deal, he applied to places west of the Rockies so that we can be closer to our families. One of them was UCLA.

Unfortunately, UCLA turned him down for internship and we are a little disappointed. However, we still have our fingers crossed for the West LA and Long Beach VA hospitals, as well as the San Diego VA.

So far, only the University of Arizona has offered him an interview. While they have a good internship program and he is happy to get this offer, I'm not sure of the possibility of living in Tucson, even if it is only for a year.

Anyway, we find out in late February where we move to next and I will let you all know, at the very least to see if any of you are in the lucky city.

I Really Need to Vent

So, I start with a disclaimer, I didn't watch most of the game last night. Living in the Central Time Zone and having a little baby don't allow me the luxury of staying up late anymore. So my first reaction when Mr. BB told me the score last night was saddness. Saddness that my little boy's mojo didn't get us through one more game.

But when I started reading this morning and found out what happened, I became furious. I don't have a problem getting beaten by a more talented team, but I WILL NOT TOLERATE DISRESPECT, and we, my friends, were disrescpected this week. It was bad enough with what happened to our Bruin Bear, but they flipped us the big middle finger this week.

Should I be surprised? No, not really. But for too long, I have watched those arrogant fuckers and their apologists live it up at our expense and I'm tired of it. Every year, I think, "Well, nothing lasts forever," but it gets harder and harder. I'm not saying CRN and his staff are wrong for us. I think if u$c* hadn't gotten blown out two weeks ago, we maybe wouldn't have been as optomistic.

Still, this morning I told Jonathan that the four letters he wore yesterday just aren't on his chest, they are in his heart and that is what matters. Their classlessness makes me prouder to be a Bruin.

So as much as it hurts, I'll say once again that karma is a bitch and they will get theirs. You can buy your players, but you can't buy class.

Well, here it is. This little guy got the mojo started three weeks ago when we needed it. Today is probably the biggest game of his lifetime.

I can't help but reflect on how Jonathan and our team have grown since September. Jonathan was four days old when he saw his first game. His onesie was so big on him, now he has filled it out. I would like to think our guys have grown during that time as well.

Nothing more needs to be said. BEAT $c!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
