To refute the few remaining Edsall supporters
I posted this last January. The only reason I decided to repost this was because the few remaining Edsall supporters seem to cling to the fact that Edsall led UConn from 1AA to BCS bowl game as evidence that he is the answer.
Well, the below somewhat refutes that theory. I'd also like to add that UConn football outspent Maryland by almost 5 million during a recent season. He had more resources, and played against a weaker conference. And had the same overall record...

Henson and Zeller to Return--Maryland Impact
Henson and Zeller just made their return to UNC official. Probably not the best news for Maryland fans, but maybe there is a silver lining or two. Any thoughts?
More Numbers: Randy Edsall and Connecticut SOS
Full disclosure before getting into some of these numbers: I'm not terribly pleased with the Edsall hire. Had the situation been different, and Edsall were brought in (instead of Franklin, perhaps) after Fridge retiring on his own terms in a few years, I would be perfectly pleased. I won't bore you (yet) with my reasons for disliking the hire, I just thought it was necessary so that I'm not pretending to be 100% objective.
I think Edsall should be respected for bringing UConn into Division 1A, and leading them to some pretty good years. But part of me wondered if he was beating anybody that was any good while he was doing it.

A little math: MD vs. GT vs. Clemson
Recently, there has been a ton of debate about the relative merits of the Friedgen era. Some posters have mentioned that, in the 10 seasons under Friedgen, Maryland's record was very similar to Georgia Tech and Clemson--football programs that are generally perceived as "successful" by most Maryland fans.
In an absolute sense, this is true:
Maryland was 74-50
Clemson was 76-50
Georgia Tech was 78-51
But I think if you look closer, the numbers aren't as similar as they first appear. I don't know if my hypothesis holds water, but I think it is interesting. And at the very least, it isn't the same thing that has been thrown out time and time again.
Let's look at it:

3 PM PRESS CONFERENCE
Maryland to have a 3 PM press conference. At work and can't verify this, but just got a text message from a friend who constantly gets twitter updates about this stuff. Can anyone verify that the announcement will be today? Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere.
Now I just need to fill out this stupid 75 word requirement. Anyways, hope everyone is having a good day--a Monday, but hopefully a short week for most of you.
Go Terps.
Lawson to Purdue
Per Zagsblog, Jacob Lawson committed to Purdue this morning. Hopefully I didn't miss where someone else had mentioned this.
