SIS: Explain your Memes; Why Jim Day blocked me on Twitter
Based on this comment from TheC, it may be time for some of the more recent memes used on Red Reporter be given context to those who were not around at their inception. Some people wonder "Why do you post a picture of a statue eating babies when you talk about Juan Francisco" etc. Also, what is the deal with the giraffes and Jim Day? Since I started that one (innocently), I'll explain. Feel free to use the comments section to give context to other common Red Reporter memes.

RIP Gatewood Galbraith
You'll be missed. Pour out some bourbon tonight in his honor.
Even if you didn't agree with him, you had to respect him.
Phil Martelli, giant douche
"After calling me a few choice words, he informed me that he would make some calls so that I would be dropped from my summer class and would no longer graduate. He also said that he was going to sue me. When he asked if I still planned on leaving, I was at a loss for words. "
OT: The true story behind killing Bin Laden
Offered without comment, just a great article.
I vote for this as the picture for the next caption contest. I'll start...
"No no no, THIS is how planking should look like..."
The latest chapter of The Octonion is absolutely hilarious
If you are unfamiliar with The Octonion, they have linked the previous versions below the current.

Kansas celebrates domestic terrorism?
Well, at least according to some Missouri people....
Careful who you trust on Twitter
This is a must read.
Cincinnati Magazine story on low Reds attendance
This gem caught my eye:
Things can still go wrong, as I learned when asking about The Cincinnati Enquirer’s recent report that the Reds would soon switch to "dynamic pricing," in which ticket prices rise or fall based on numerous factors, instead of being set all season. "That was erroneously reported by John Fay," Forgus sharply replied. Forgus had talked to Fay for his story and hinted that dynamic pricing seemed inevitable. "I don’t think there’s a baseball team that won’t [adopt the practice]," she told him. Fay proceeded to write a piece suggesting dynamic pricing was right around the corner. It’s not, and the Reds had to send Davis out to do damage control, explaining that the team is just analyzing the practice.
Matt Jones now claims Tony Woods is a no go
This after claiming that is was all but done that he was coming.
Good news if the latest is true, UK did not need that headache.
Bob Knight embarasses himself once again
Oh Bobby, don't ever change. You provide me with laugh after laugh....
Must read on recruitment of DeAndre Liggins
One piece of news that comes out in the story is that he was suspended by the NCAA and not UK at the start of 2009.
Bill Self Choking Procedures
Found this on the interwebs, thought it would generate a little conversation. This is kind of mean...but funny.
via cdn.tauntr.com
I never really considered Bill Self a choker, but a lot of people are piling on him after the loss to VCU. He did win a national championship, so I give him the benefit of the doubt when it comes to some of his teams' early exits.
So what say you, Bill Self: choker or no?
John Pelphrey jumps on the NCAA violation bus
We love you John, but damn.
Great SI article on Coach Cal
Very long, and very good.
Jim Tressel does his best Bruce Pearl
If Sweater Vest lied to the NCAA, he is staring down the barrel of the NCAA show-cause gun.
Cubs fan "wore a St. Louis Browns throwback jersey" in Dusty's spot
"At the very end, somebody took a dump right where I stood in the dugout every day," Baker said Monday morning. "That was the low point. The grounds crew guy cleaned it up. He said, ‘Oh, I think it’s dog crap.’ I said, ‘No it ain’t. That’s human crap.’"
Baker said Monday’s interview was the first time he had discussed the incident publicly. He doesn’t know who the perpetrator was. The episode occurred around the same time that Baker received menacing -- and often racially charged -- letters and telephone calls. But Baker, now the Cincinnati Reds manager, has moved on.
When being a fanatic goes too far
Sports rivalries go back literally over a hundred years. As Kentucky fans, we are used to heated rivalries with Louisville, Tennessee, etc. In some cases, fans of each side of a rivalry get a little carried away with the rhetoric and hyperbole, but in most cases there is no harm and no foul. Also as Kentucky fans, we are used to the lunatic fringe 5% being responsible for our being labeled as crazy, insane, etc.
ESPN had the idiot squad work on this one
Off Topic: Hitler fan mail from Knoxville
"They (letters) come from Korea, from Knoxville, Tennessee, from Finland and Iceland -- and not one has a bad word to say," said Misch, who is believed to be the last man alive to have seen Hitler and other top-ranking Nazis in the flesh.
Um.....
Welcome to mid-major status Indiana
After ending a 19-game losing streak against Top 25 teams, Crean traded high-fives with fans who stormed the court. Students jumped up and down at midcourt as Hulls tried to finish a television interview, and some of the Hoosiers got in on the act, too, before heading to the safety of their locker room where the celebration continued.
That's right, Indiana fans stormed the court last night. I can't think of anything more pathetic or weak for a major program's fans to do than to storm the court.
If Calipari had network TV editors..
Trust me, it is clean and safe...
"Must-Read" does this article a disservice
Best sports related article I've ever read.
