I'm not sure whether or not to be scared or confident with this decision but am still leaning towards the latter. What do you guys think of Marrone's decision? Does it help or hurt us? I know that Paulus has absolutely no experience as a college gameday QB, but to me it's things like this that can sometimes seem crazy enough to work...

On December 2, 1998, Ferentz was hired as Iowa's 26th head football coach to replace the retiring Hayden Fry. The team struggled during Ferentz's first two seasons with a combined 4-19 record, but the Hawkeyes earned their first bowl bid under Ferentz after a 7-5 season in 2001.

Seem oddly similar? Perhaps. But here is the real skinny, BHGP'ers...

Brewster's first two seasons at Minnesota- 8-17 = 0.320 win percentage

Ferentz's first two seasons at Iowa----------- 4-19 = 0.174 win percentage

..............wait............. are my eyes deceiving me??? HOLY CRAPPY COACHING, BATMAN! Brewster actually had a better coaching record than the mighty Captain Kirk!!!

Now I know you're all wondering 'How in the hell is this possible, Buddylee?!' Well, us Gopher-loving individuals could suggest a solution of following in our footsteps, going a step further, and completely erasing the history of all happenings in the 2000 season (even outside of college football, if you so-shall-choose)... that way, our two coaches records would be eerily similar if you counted your '01 season. However, just as you will never forget the sacred "55-0", neither will we with our useful knowledge that Ferentz had accomplished in 3 years what Brewster has done in only 2. Could this be a foreshadowing of the future? Only time will tell, my fellow feathery friends, only time will tell. ;)

Waay Too Early Look at the TCF Bank Stadium Expansion

I know, I know.... I became really bored, and ever since the stadium began to take shape I've been tortured by thoughts of what The Vault could look like when expanded to 80,000+ seats. So, for your viewing pleasure only...

I was told from an insider that when the seating capacity is expanded there will be an upper deck stretching all the way from the north end of the horseshoe to the suites, so I think the representation would be fairly accurate. I could definitely see this place easily being one of the most intimidating places to play in the Big Ten when the stadium adds those seats (barring whether or not all of those seats are filled of course). It is very exciting to think of what it will actually end up looking like. What do you guys think?

Also, because I know that the expansion itself is supposedly speculative, I'd like to poll the TDG audience by asking if and when this task will be completed. I'm crossing my fingers, hoping that the demand will warrant it sooner rather than later.

Time to Play Hardball with the Hawkeyes

So after reading up on the Hawkeye trashtalk at Black Heart Gold Pants, I decided that we need to either dig up some more dirt on that cornhole of a state (pun intended) or just state some of the obvious (they would probably call it making fun of them, but I regard it as fact). Well, I did a little bit of both, in the form of YouTube clips and jokes, and hopefully others will follow suit.

The first video clip was beautifully done, in my opinion, and if you want any added comfort heading into this weekend's game, just pay close attention to and remember the expressions on the faces of their fans.

What's really amusing is how they seemed SO glum to the fact that they were beaten substantially by the #1 ranked team in the country.

This clip depicts how absolutely dimwitted some Hawkeye fans can be. I was actually disgusted to see this, and after watching for the first minute or two it was pretty easy to spare myself from watching the rest. (WARNING: Contains Some Brief Profanity)

Classy, right? The video, however, seems just a little bit more comical after reading the joke involving the semi carrying pigs (See below videos). It just seems like a good fit for the situation.

This is actually pretty funny, which depicts how a guy from Iowa tries to convince a friend who moved there from Minnesota that his state shouldn't be hated on. Funny all except for the Iowan repeatedly calling his friend Canadien, but I think we can let that one slide taking the average Iowan IQ into account.

And finally, the best clip for last. I will go as far as to claim that this behavior is innate, and if I can teach this you can consider me the next "dog whisperer" for the National Geographic Channel.
