Joakim has been hitting the weights hard this summer.
He was on vacation in Hawaii hitting the weights each morning... expect a beefier Joakim... He'll also be into see David Thorpe at some point this summer to continue working on his shooting.
I read this on chat on Poopsworld. Joakim will be a monster next season
Gar Forman speaking about the rumors surrounding Vinny prior to the Bulls game against the Pacers. I don't know if anyone saw this, so I decided to post it. Here, take a look.
He said that "Vinny is our coach". Or he’s a liar, or he forgot to mention that "Vinny is our coach... FOR NOW".
Three team deal (Bulls, Magic and Blazers)
According to hoopsworld, Brandon Bass is unhappy with the current situation in Orlando, wants more minutes and almost doesn’t speak with Van Gundy in these days (he didn't play nine games due to coaching decision). Portland tried to sign Bass last summer, but he felt that he would have more playing time with the Magic. But the things have changed. Portland desperately needs a big man and the Magic have him available, since they prefer to stick with Gortat. Instead of both teams making a deal, the Bulls could try to enter the deal offering Deng as bait. My idea is:
Bulls send: Deng and Salmons to Orlando
Bulls get: Matt Barnes, JJ Redick (both from Orlando), Steve Blake and Outlaw (from Portland)
Portland get: Brandon Bass and M. Pietrus
The Bulls would increase their chances in the 2010 FA because they would get expiring contracts. Orlando would get a potential future All-Star in Deng and a 6th man in Salmons, who could play behind Vince Carter (SG) and Deng (SF). Portland would get their much needed big man - Aldridge could play the C - and a SF with quality, that would have little chances of playing in Orlando with Deng and… (i admit it) I needed his money to approve this trade on ESPN trade machine). Plus, trading Blake, that could increase Bayless minutes

Tyrus to the Knicks update [sort of]
Could David Lee be the player that no one mentions?
"Derrick Rose is extremely talented," Bosh said. "He's very quick and very athletic, and I think his upside and potential are very high. He can be as good as he wants to be, and that might be an elite player in this league."
Lakers owner Jerry Buss says he's prepared to spend as much as he needs in order to contend in the future.
This season, the Lakers have a $91.3 million payroll. In addition to that, Buss will have to pay $21.4 million in luxury tax for going over the NBA's threshold.
Buss told NBA.com that he is willing to give Kobe Bryant a three-year, $91 million extension and that he wants coach Phil Jackson to return next season

Tyrus Thomas Is A Starter (nice comparison with Aldridge and Bargnani)
The stats guys should take a look at this. But if this is true, Tyrus should be really pissed if he doesn’t starts and plays more minutes

Bulls will finish 2nd in Central Division - Preview
Another preview of Bulls next season. It's interesting how Hoopsworld guys think that Salmons will be Bulls Top Offensive Player and not Derrick Rose. They also think that Tyrus could avg 2 or more bpg

Sidney Green new Big Man Coach of the Bulls?
I was reading the Real GM forum about the Bulls and found this. Did anyone notice Vinny saying that?
List of 2010 free agents (start choosing)
I know it’s too early for the great summer of 2010. There’s a full season ahead of that. But I think we could start choosing who do we want most and what others players we should persue in the case of the first two - I hope the Bulls have enough money to sign two max free agents to play with Rose and Noah - end up elsewhere.
Now, here is a list of players who are going to be/might be free agents in 2010. From that list, I would clearly focus my attention in signing Wade and Bosh. I really don’t care much about LeBron. He can go to the Big Apple or wherever he wants, because the Bulls would be almost unbeatable with a core of Rose/Wade/Bosh.
But since there’s a chance we don’t get anyone of those Big Three (LeBron/Wade/Bosh), I think we would be ok with Manu/Johnson and Amare/Boozer/Nowitzki. They are older than the top three, but maybe they could also help Rose get ring.
What are your thoughts?
Bulls are going to compete in NBA Summer League
After all that disappointing in draft night, I’m anxious to see if Gar Forman made the right picks or not. It’s only the Summer League, but at least it’s something. Bulls schedule:
Tuesday 14 - 5 PM – Golden State vs. Chicago
Wednesday 15 - 3 PM – Milwaukee vs. Chicago
Friday 17 - 5:30 PM – Oklahoma City vs. Chicago
Saturday 18 - 3 PM – Chicago vs. New York
Sunday - 3 PM – Minnesota vs. Chicago
Amare to Houston (this is insane, right)?
Can you believe in this? Wtf are the Suns doing?
"According to the same source that disclosed Terry Porter was about to be fired as Suns coach, the Rockets are leaning toward swapping Tracy McGrady's expiring $22M contract, Carl Landry and Aaron Brooks for Leandro Barbosa and Stoudemire, who owns an escape clause after next season and is demanding an extension this summer to waive it"
Noah developing an offensive plan
I was reading Mike Moreau chat, in hoopsworld, and this caught my atention
"I think his shooting form and release will continue to become more consistent, which will lead to a better percentage at the line. He will also continue developing an offensive plan in the post. It will be a step by step, year by year improvement, and I think you will see his offensive numbers improve at each stage. He's too coachable and works too hard for that not to happen"
It's nice to know that Noah is trying to improve his ofensive game
Mullens has no promise - according to Hoopsworld, Sam Smith and KC
According to Hoopsworld, Sam Smith and KC Johnson, the Bulls didn’t promise to draft BJ Mullens. Of course this could be a way to keep the expectation until the draft day, but the articles have some valuable points.
The Bulls do have eyes for Mullens at #16, but so do the Phoenix Suns who at #14 could grab B.J. Typically when a "promise " is made the player shuts down workouts, but in Mullens case he's got workouts scheduled for the balance of the week.
Hoopsworld
I have done substantial research on this and can assure everyone this is not true in any way: That the Bulls have made a guarantee to Mullens. This is not to say the Bulls will not select Mullens.
KC Johnson guarantee
Tweet this: Ohio State center B.J. Mullens told Charlotte reporters after his Monday workout for the Bobcats that the Pistons and Bulls have expressed the most interest in him. This comes on the heels of Mullens allegedly posting on Twitter that the Bulls promised him they would pick him at No. 16.
Though the Bulls have worked out Mullens, no such promise has been made.
Anyone miss these moments?
That play against LBJ was sick...

Wade or Bosh? Sam Smith prefers... Wade
[From the FanPosts - brings up an interesting question about team building. Personally, I think while D-Wade is the better player of the two, Bosh makes a bigger upgrade to the team at his position. Of course, in all likelihood neither will actually come available, but it gives us something to discuss today.
As a side note, all this new access feels really weird, like I'm a 16-year-old again sneaking out to "borrow" the car after my parents are in bed. So bull83, my apologies in advance if I wreck your fanpost while driving solo for the first time. -wjb]
I was reading Sam Smith's column on Bulls.com and he raised an interesting question: what should the Bulls this offseason? Getting Wade or Bosh? Keep the same team and wait for 2010?
In my opinion, I still think we should pursue Bosh instead of Wade right now if he becomes available. We need a inside scorer and Bosh can give us that. What would be need it to make the deal is another story. Besides, I think Rose is too much similar to Wade. He needs someone like Ben on his side, someone who can stand near the 3 point line and hit some 3. What do you guys think?

Bulls before and after the trade
First of all: I prefer winning games than playing well. We just need to win to reach the playoffs, not playing good. But since we have a positive record (9-8) after the trade that got us Salmons and Miller, does that mean we are playing better than before? I came up with this question because I have the feeling that not everything got better. And my suspicious became true when I started to make some equations.
If I recall, the trade with Sacramento happened on January 18th, the day we played at Milwaukee. So, I didn't included that game on the equations - because Noce and Gooden did not played -, neither the Denver game, since the new guys only played after that one, in Indiana.
Now, before we got Salmons and Miller - the others don't really count and Tim Thomas was injured for a few games -, we averaged 100,26 points and conceded near 102,06 per game, in 53 games. Since the one in Indiana, played on January 22nd, we averaged 103,24 points and allowed the opponent to score 103,29 per game, in 17 games.
Conclusions
We got fire power with the trade and are averaging almost 2,98 points more than before. Nothing strange there, since Salmons exceed our expectations and we new Miller could score. But, as strange as it may seem - since we all kept criticizing Noc and Gooden for not playing D -, our defense is worst (1,23 points worst). I know that most of the fault lies in Vinny, because he doesn't seem to have any strategy to stop the opponents. But what do you guys think?
Are we playing worst than before? Better? Or just winning games?

Del Negro pleased with Tyrus and Noah
Noah is averaging 11.3 points, eight rebounds and 3.5 blocks and shooting 68 percent on the 3-1 Western Conference trip. Thomas is averaging 12.8 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.5 blocks and shooting 46 percent.
"They have to continue to make themselves threats, and when they continue to do that it opens up things for the other guys," said Del Negro. "They've been putting in a lot of extra work. And their attitude is good and their effort and intensity has been good, so those things are all positives. Maybe they're just more comfortable with me or the system or what's expected or they're more familiar with things and how we're going to run and how we're going to do certain things. They're picking their spots better. But with young players it's always a work in progress. As long as their effort and intensity is there and their mindset is right good things will happen."
A plan with Rose, Deng and Tyrus, but not with Pax and Vinny
Joel Brigham, from Hoopsworld, thinks that the Bulls should keep Deng, Tyrus and, obviously, Rose. Everyone else is expandable. Especially Del Negro and Pax
Suns might consider losing Stoudemire - From CBS (Maybe I'm not crazy after all)
Remember when I proposed a (shitty) trade with the Suns for Stoudemire. Matt call me crazy. Well, if this story is true - I repeat: if this story is true -, maybe I'm not so crazy after all. Start working on the trade machine
"At various times this season, the Suns have conveyed a willingness to move backup point guard Leandro Barbosa -- another D'Antoni favorite -- if the right deal came along. Given Phoenix's lackluster play of late, CBSSports.com has learned that the organization might now be open to considering a much bigger deal -- one involving Stoudemire".
