Steve McNair Found Shot To Death

It's not really Longhorns-related, but it's relevant to a lot of football fans, especially those of the Houston Oilers and Vince's predecessor at Tennessee.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Former Titans quarterback Steve McNair has been killed. Police said McNair suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head in downtown Nashville.

Can't say I'm shocked, should this prove to be true. It comes from a source that isn't exactly iron-clad, but it's worth watching.

USC LB’s Brian Cushing & Clay Matthews tested positive for steroids at the NFL Scouting Combine, according to various sources, including one NFL team.

Included in the poll are all of the remaining scholarship offers for Texas. Who is going to be the next one to commit to Texas? I am actually surprised Peterson still hasn't, but I'm guessing the fact that he hasn't could mean that he is worried about playing time at Texas, what with the 2009 and 2010 DT recruits.

Also, any guesses on who else might get an offer down the road?

Schedule swap: Tech now 8/19, UCF now 11/7

"The move was made to accommodate a request by ESPN and either Texas or the Big 12 Conference, allowing Texas and Texas Tech to play Sept. 19 in primetime on ABC. The Longhorns and Red Raiders were originally scheduled to play on Nov. 7. I think it's a good idea to accommodate ESPN and keep the game on the schedule rather than just accepting a financial penalty Texas would pay to kick UCF off the schedule and line up another opponent. TV schedules have not been set, but I would be really surprised if the UCF-Texas game is not on national television."

I guess it'll be nice to face one semi-decent team before heading to Dallas to face OU, and of course UCF will be a nice reprieve before the Baylor-KU-TAMU gauntlet...

Hamilton commits to Ark

Cobi Hamilton chooses Arkansas.

I don't know much about the kid except that he was a late offer, played with Mallett in HS, and is a bigger possession receiver. I don't fault the kid, since Ark had been recruiting him for a long time, while UT just threw in an offer a couple weeks ago. Plus UT is pretty set for young, big WRs, while he could actually have a chance to start for the Hogs.

Anyway, who are the remaining offers? Just Jones and Kirkpatrick? Think UT will throw an eleventh-hour offer to anyone else?

Unfortunately Gilbert isn't on there. I don't think it makes sense for him to burn a season of eligibility his freshman year unless there's an emergency situation. A true frosh QB should probably have one spring practice under his belt if he's going to try to beat out a true junior and redshirt junior for the backup job.

Question - redshirt/greyshirt list

I've searched quite a few times for any list, even an out-of-date one, of 2008 UT redshirts, but I've still not seen one. Does anyone know of such a list, or does anyone just KNOW who the redshirts are? How about greyshirts?

I do know that Irby is getting to redshirt this season, which is great. And although he's in a different category, I know the Shipley is probably going to receive a medical redshirt and sixth season of eligibility.

Who are the redshirts? So far I think I've identified these guys: D.J Monroe, D.J Grant, DeSean Hales, Jeremy Hills, Dravannti Johnston, Antoine Hicks, Jarvis Humphrey, Tre Newton, Ryan Roberson, Luke Poehlmann, Mark Buchanan, and Justin Tucker.

These are some guys I think might qualify, but could have burned their redshirts when I wasn't looking: Kheeston Randall, Nolan Brewster, and Brock Fitzhenry.

So...anyone to add/subtract from these lists?
