OT - Waaaay OT

So, I was without TV for 2 months, and I even went without Internet for a week at one point... I had to find something to do with all the time on my hands. The garden was already plotted out in Excel. The plants were on order from Gurneys, Park Seeds, and Burpee. I decided to write down one of the stories that I had made up for my daughter. I really like the story, and have thought of sending it to a few agents to see if it is worthy of being published. I need some people to give me some honest feedback, because my family is too close to both the story, and me to not read it while drinking the kool-aid... If you are willing to be a test subject, or if you have some kids that you can use, please e-mail me and let me know. The story was written due to the fact that my daughter and wife both complained to no end about the fact that step-mothers in stories are always evil. I decided to create a "Super Step Mother." Here is the opening, Twilla Twitbottom was like a lot of stepmoms, with one little difference. If Twilla would sneeze while holding her step-daughters hand, they would both shrink! Twilla discovered her ability one day when she was holding her step daughter Ducky’s’ hand. Twilla sneezed, suddenly Whoosh, Zoowie, Zing! Twilla and Ducky were so small that nobody could see them!

I would like to sincerely request beg anyone suffering from mental problems to seek help. I know from painful experience how it can nearly destroy a family, and all to often prematurely end a life. Nobody is weak because they need help, it is just their turn. It took me 35 years of suffering with Manic Depression to realize that I was not a wimp for asking for help. Don't wait, get help.
Sorry for the depressing fanshot, but I believe it needs to be not only said, but heard.

Second City Hockey OT

I have noticed a significant decrease in commenting since the proclamation was handed down by the Lords of the web. I decided to create this post as a room to breathe/LOTR discussion/Whatevs. If there is any dislike for it from the over-seers of propriety, then it will disappear without warning.

Second City Hockey One for the road

Anybody that is driving to St. Louis on the up coming road trip should stop at a bar called D'arcys Pint. The beer selection is okay, but the food is heavenly! The wings are pretty good, they are not real spicy but they are just hot enough that my wife won't touch them. Which means I get them all. Now, for the important part...

Everybody read the next part closely.

They have a dinner on the menu called The Horseshoe, which is Texas Toast, with meat on top, covered in a mountain of fries, and then smothered in the best cheese sauce ever created. Adam Richman from Man Vs. Food called it one of the best things he has ever tasted. If you don't try it, you have missed one of Illinois best. My wife rarely finishes hers, and I only finish mine about 2/3 of the time. The bar is not far off of the interstate, and it is worth every second you spend there.

Lighthouse Hockey Two that should be read

I know that these do not mention the Islanders, but they should be read by more than just one section of hockey fans. The first story is one of the reasons that I am happy to be a hockey fan, it allows me to meet people like him.

Second City Hockey Detroit loses one of it's best

In case you haven't heard, Christy over at Winging It In Motown is leaving SBN. She just graduated, and is moving on to a sports PR career. While I am NOT a fan of the wings, She has kept a fairly even keel on her side of things, which I imagine has be just as much of a headache for her as we can be for The Three Alcoteers on our side of things. The link to her fairwell post is added below.
