The video here is amazing. I don't know why they are role-playing instead of, say, doing some reporting, this is a joke. Also, I'm pretty sure Cutler did not carry himself anything like this during meetings with anyone.

Places to improve

First off, I don't mean this post in a negative spirit, our Broncos beat the defending division champs and are now two games up on them. Cutler and the offense looked astoundingly good at times. We have not only one of the best offenses in the league, we have one of the youngest as well.

That said, there were a number of ways I think this team can improve on both sides of the ball:

Offense

1. Run the ball: One of the most frustrating aspects of this game to me was how little we ran the ball. Especially when we are up like that, run the clock down, wear the opponent down. Our backs ran for 6 yards per carry all told, no reason for the huge run/pass differential in this one since we lead most of the game.

2. Too much spread: I don't mind the spread sometimes, there were just too many plays, especially in the 3rd quarter where we had an empty backfield. There's no reason not to make the defense at least think about the run, even if they're going to run.

3. Get Cutler some gloves or something: Pretty self-explanatory, but he just dropped the the ball for no reason at least twice in good weather. This can't happen.

Defense

1. Hide the blitz better: Our blitzes were successful at getting through their O-line, but Phyllis almost always got the ball out ok. I think this was largely because our blitzes were real obvious. Almost every time we showed blitz, we bltized. And I don't remember any blitzes that weren't telegraphed.

2. Stay at home: Way too many big plays, often the result of overpursuit by Boss and others. The big Sproles catch stands out in particular. All three LBs were running full speed to the left while the play was going the other way.

3. Paymah sucked: Just like with Foxworth, Paymah gave way too much cushion pretty routinely. I have to think this is mostly coaching and can be worked on. He struggled beyond just the cushion issue, but I don't know what else specifically to do better in other areas

Special Teams

1. Pitch a shutout: Other than the Sproles return, I actually thought the special teams acquitted themselves pretty well. But that doesn't matter that much if you give up a TD.

I'm sure I'm missing plenty of thing, especially on defense, what do you all think? What can the team do to get better as the year goes on?

Wilkinson Trade Void?

ESPN's Len Pasquarelli is reporting that Dan Wilkinson has not yet reported to the Broncos for a physical and neither team can seem to find him (though the article doesn't seem to speculate that anything is wrong with him). It does include a funny comment that "He is also notorious for trying to avoid offseason conditioning programs and even training camp". Sounds like a guy we want to trade for to me.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2799298
