UPDATE - Remaining schedules of the NL WC contenders

I decided to compile (hopefully, in an easy to read format) the remaining schedules of the WC contenders.  The table includes 8-27-09 games.  I also had my own thoughts about the remaining records, but that's kind of similar to rosterbating, and I don't want to do too much of that--I'll let the discussion get into the possible outcomes.  I will say that it's possible for the Braves to overtake their 3 competitors, but they'll need some help (i.e., the other teams cooling off, Chipper hitting, etc.).  Anyway, I just wanted to post this so people (including myself) have a point of reference.  The least you all can do is thank me, rec the post, wire me some cash and send me naked pictures of your wives and girlfriends!!!!

Here's a better breakdown of the remaining games.  After SF, Col plays 19 of their next 22 against bad teams.  The end of that stretch coincides with the Braves' run of 10/13 games against bad teams.  I think Bronn is right--we'll know whether we're in or out by September 21.

Top 10 over-discussed topics

swo12bv suggested that we establish a list of topics that have been discussed ad nauseum.  I thought this might be a good idea for a fanpost.  Perhaps if enough people participate, it can be compiled and placed next to the Top Prospect list?  Anyways, here's my list:

1. Peavy

2. Anything rosterbatory

3. Obvious signings that everyone agrees with, but for some reason hasn't happened yet (e.g., Sheets or Dunn)

4. The Teixera trade to the Braves

5. The Teixera trade to the Angels

6. The idea of bringing Jason Heyward to the major leagues in 2009

7. Frank Wren's incompetence

8. The Vazquez trade

9. Furcal

10. John Smoltz

Change Draft Rules

Does anyone else think it's time for MLB to allow trading of draft picks?  MLB began televising the draft this year, but there's very little drama unless you're a little too interested in baseball for your own good.  However, allowing teams to trade their picks will have multiple positive outcomes.  First, it can add drama to the telecast, with teams making last minute trades.  Second, low-revenue teams can trade down for multiple draft choices, thereby increasing their talent pool.  Low-revenue teams currently tend to draft based on signability, and the high-revenue teams end up get the best players anyway, so why not let the bad teams get an extra pick or two?  Third, teams can use future draft picks in trades.  When a team trades away a star player, they would be able to squeeze a draft pick or two out of their trade partner, in addition to prospects.  I realize that getting future draft picks isn't as good as getting players whose bonuses are already paid, but it could be a way of sweetening a trade package without sacrificing additional good prospects.  Any thoughts?
