Heatley to the Sharks?

According to this it's a not done, but if it does happen its going to be pretty huge.  Heatley to san jose, Marleau to the Kings, Frolov and Stoll to the Sens.  Those sharks sure are good at this whole shifting the power from the eastern to the western conference thing.  Thornton centering Heatley?  That's flat out frightening.  Yeah, Marleau would stay in the division, but the kings would give up Frolov for him, which is almost a lateral move.  Just glad they arent in the central.

Games of Interest 3/1-3/8

This is a really big week in terms of the blues playoff push.  Both Dallas and Minnesota have to play San Jose this week and  Nashville and Edmonton will be facing off against Eastern conference teams that could provide an opening for the blues to move up in the standigns.

Here are the games we need to be watching this week with the optimal result (I think, sometimes the outcome sucks either way) for the blues in parenthesis.

Sunday:
Dallas - Pens (pens win!)
Hawks - Kings (Hawks win, which is good for later)
Van -  Cbus (van)

Monday:
none really, two terrible teams play one another.

Tuesday:
Detroit - Blues (obvious)
LA -  Cbus (LA, we need to really really root for LA this week, like theyre our adopted second team hard.)
Edmonton - Nashville ( gotta pull for nashville, we have a game in hand on them and the preds have fewer points than the oil)
Anaheim - Chicago (go hawks)
Minnesota -  Vancouver (go Sedins)
Dallas - San Jose (go sharks)

If we Win Tuesday and both Dallas and Minn lose we will leapfrog them in the standings.

Weds (Trade Deadline Day):
No games of consequence for the note.

Thurs:
Dallas and LA (go kings, hopefully having lost the last two games)
Cbus - Nashville (cbus, i guess, but this makes it hard to reach them)
Minn - SJ (sharks)
Edmonton - Ottawa (sens)

Here, if they win, Dallas and Minn both get a chance to bounce above us in the standings again.

Friday:
Blues - Bolts (obvious)
Anaheim (pronger less?) - Dallas (this one flat out sucks.  If the blues win then we need to pull for dallas, but if we lose in tampa it may be better for anaheim to win because we at least have games in hand on them, just no overtime, please.)

If the Blues win Friday night it knocks them up to 68 points and into what would probably be eigth place if everything listed here follows.

Saturday:
Blues - Panthers (J-Bo less?)
Minn - LA (go kings)
Edmonton - Toronto (leafs)
Nashville - Philly (flyers)
Cbus - Det (wings)

As I wrote at the top of this, its going to be a hell of a week.  Throw the trade deadline frenzy in there and this could be the most exciting week of hockey St. Louis has seen since the lockout.

Thoughts??

Blues Game Dropped From Vs. Schedule

Anyone else notice how there's now no TV for the Feb. 3 game against the Columbus Blue Jackets?  That's because Vs. has dropped the contest from their schedule and replaced it with the Caps and Devils? I remember wondering why the hell Vs. would pick up a game between the Blues and the Jackets, let alone the next night after they just aired a Blues/Wings game, but they did and know they're pulling the rug out from under the two non-contenders.

The only confirmation I could find for this was an article on Yahoo sports' Puck Daddy column breaking down the number of games each team would be on.  The Blues had 5 and The Jackets 1, counting them up now its clear the blues are down to four and the jackets zilch.

So I'm torn.  On one hand we get to see Ovechkin and the playoff bound caps play the also playoff bound but boring ass Devils. However it also leaves us completely TV less on both sides of the puck, so not even an internet stream will be availible.  Should we be outraged or not?  Also, does Shanny signing with the Devils have anything to do with the boot we got from Vs? Maybe, maybe not, who knows.

the stempniak trade after 15 games

Looks like a change of scenery hasnt done much to improve Lee Snakebitniak's luck when it comes to putting the puck into a wide open net.

"It's Frustrating." sound familiar?

Stemps has 1 goal and 5 assists in 14 games with the leafs
Alexander Steen has 1 goal and 6 assists in 15 games with the note, so head to head the two forwards exchanged in the deal look pretty even. However, when you throw in Cola and his 1 goal and 5 assists after 15 games played this deal is looking pretty lopsided in the blues' favor.  Stempniak is playing at at +1 right now, -2 on the entire season, while Cola is sitting at a -3 with the blues and -5 on the season.  Steen is a surprising +2 with the blues though he is sitting at a -2 on the year.

Thoughts?
