Although the 2008 FLOP hasn't completely set in quite yet, I can't help but look towards next season. I was looking at Cubs' player contracts and I wonder whether or not the Cubs will re-sign Dempster? Can he repeat his great '08 performance? (Regular season, that is!) Or should we pursue another top notch starter? What about J. Edmonds, R. Johnson, and D. Ward? And, can we depend on Fukudome in RF?

Also, I wonder how the pending sale of the club will effect free agent signings and/or trades. I also wonder if the Cubs will be involved in the Sabathia, Manny Ramirez, and A.J. Burnett sweepstakes? One thing is for sure, this is a very talented team but it is clearly not built to succeed in October. At least we're done w/ Bob Howry!

Your thoughts?

I know, I know,,,"Stay positive Rob"! That's what everybody keeps texting me. Barring a comeback of EPIC proportions, the situation we find ourselves begs the question: Where does this one rank among '69, '84, '03, etc, etc? They called the '64 Phillies collapse "The Phold". Will the 2008 Cubs earn such a nic-name?

I've gotta add, living here in So Cal makes this really tough because I gotta face their fans everywhere! -- I work with them, I'm friends with them, I live by them, and they're cheering on every radio station, EVERYWHERE!!

It will be rough being at Dodger Stadium Sat night -- If I even bother going

I was just wondering if anybody knew of a website where post game interviews and press conferences could be watched? I live in Southern California so obviously, I don't get Chicago tv stations and E.I. shuts off at the first commercial break following the game. I've tried Comcast's website, cubs.com, and even youtube but I've struck out. Any help on this would be great. Thanks!

I need a few more words to hit 75 -- go cubs go cubs go cubs go cubs go cubs

Here is a cool website for those of you interested in player's salaries and perks - Just looking at the dollars involved in the contracts of Alex Rodriguez, Johan Santana, Alfonso Soriano, and Barry Zito are mind boggling.

But if you have a minute, look at Randy Johnson's deal -- it's so ridiculous it makes you wonder how he faces the fans paying through the nose at the ballpark. Oh well, anybody would take these deals if they could get them!

The WORST fans in baseball?

Last night I took my chick to Dodger Stadium to see what was supposed to be an epic pitching duel -- Penny vs. Peavy -- it was anything but. Anyways, as I always do at any ballpark, I represented my loyalty to the Cubs by wearing my hat and a Cubs T-shirt.

Let me just say that I've never had so much SH*#-talking and lame harrassment ever in my life. Those animalistic excuses for baseball fans were throwing popcorn at us, saying FUC# Chicago, and one drunk gang banger even told me to watch my back in the parking lot. Now I know it's normal to give a fan a hard time for rooting for the visiting team, but at the end of the day, aren't we all fans of the game? Not to mention, the Cubs were on the other side of the country playing the Phils. I know the Dodgers are a storied franchise with a lot of great fans, but I felt like I was an American soldier waving an American flag in Iran....These people wanted to kill us.

I think the reason it happened was because we sat in the outfield pavilion where seats are cheap; usually I sit in better seats but there were over 50,000 last night, and all the good seats were taken by the time I inquired. Let that be a lesson to any of you who come out here and want to see Dodger Stadium. It is a beautiful park with a lot of history, but LA has some nasty people, and apparently, they like to sit in the outfield and top deck. Don't sit in seats that are less than $25!! Incidentally, you may remember a few years back, a Giants fan was stabbed to death in the Dodger Stadium parking lot!

So any of you that are in attendance when the Cubs host the Dodgers in late May, LET THOSE DODGER FANS HAVE IT!!! Just don't stoop to their level and threaten their safety or throw things at them. Cubs fans are too good for that.

BTW, my girlfriend suggested I turn my shirt inside-out and remove my cap -- I REFUSED!!!

Blue uniforms

Does anybody else not like those blue uniforms the Cubs have been wearing lately? They look more like batting practice, warm up jerseys then they do game jerseys. I prefer the traditional colors like the Dodgers and Yankees wear. They always seem to wear the blue uniforms when Big Z pitches. I guess if they keep winning games when they wear them I could get use to it. I don't know ... They just don't look right .
