Denver Stiffs all star game for obama.

this roster is fucking nasty for an obama fundraiser coming up. it includes...

The list of confirmed players, according to Obama’s Website: Ray Allen, Carmelo Anthony, Bosh, Vince Carter, Tyson Chandler, Jamal Crawford, Kevin Durant, Baron Davis, Patrick Ewing, Fisher, Rudy Gay, Blake Griffin, Tyler Hansbrough, Dwight Howard, Juwan Howard, Antawn Jamison, Dahntay Jones, Brandon Knight, Kevin Love, Jamal Mashburn, brother and sister duo Reggie and Cheryl Miller, Alonzo Mourning, Dikembe Mutombo, Chris Paul, Quentin Richardson, Doc Rivers, Steve Smith, Jerry Stackhouse, Amare Stoudemire, the WNBA’s Tina Thompson, hometown star John Wall of the Washington Wizards, and Russell Westbrook.

probably (and sadly) the best nba game that will get this year.

Denver Stiffs melos yellows now the mile high club.

hola stiffs, heres an email i just received from the newly minted mile high club...

"The Mile High Club will be the new name of Melo’s Yellows. With the departure of

Carmelo Anthony a few months ago we had to select a new identity for our section. I

appreciate all the suggestions and feedback during this process. It was a tough decision

and with the always changing environment in the NBA we did not want to name it after

one specific player. Especially how well they are playing as a team since Melo's

absence.

Later this week I will unveil the section’s new look, it will include the same Nuggets

color scheme with the "Mile High City" and the Colorado flag as the main elements. We

wanted the name and logo to be a combination of symbolic elements that reflect the

culture and geography of Denver, as well as the entertaining and pleasurable

atmosphere of the section.

In conjunction with the change I will be update the facebook page and add a twitter

account. We will try to use these outlets to make the section better than ever. I will

probably keep this email because it will just be easier or may link it with another new

email account.

As most of you know the season ends this Wednesday so we will know who we are

playing and when we are playing by Thursday morning. We will be the #5 seed and a

high probability we will play the OKC Thunder. Looking at past seasons games 3 and 4

will more than likely fall between April 21st and 25th with a possible game on Easter Sunday.

On Thursday I will send out an email with all information for the 2011 Playoffs including

game times, prices, t-shirt information, pickup information, payment information and

most importantly how to make sure you are part of the Mile High Club.

I am currently in discussion with a couple of bars working on drink specials before and

after the game for Mile High Club members. I am also looking at bars who will host

viewing parties for the road games, which start this weekend. If you have any hookups

or suggestions let me know.

If you have already emailed me about tickets I did receive it and have not responded to

anyone yet, I was getting an accurate count of requests. We are right around 200 per

game and I am hoping to accommodate all ticket requests but we may have a wait-list

like past years.

Thanks again for all you support and I look forward to seeing everyone at the first

home game!"

personally, i love the colorado flag so im looking forward to seeing how they work that into their design.  i tried to find a gif of two giraffes fucking in an airplane bathroom to close this post.  surprisingly, i wasnt able to find much giraffe porn. lame.  so in lieu of two giraffes knockin boots at 5280 feet, how about some mega shark vs. giant octopus?

Denver Stiffs Melos Yellows still partying in the uppers...and looking for a new name.

hello stiffs, heres an email i just received from melos yellows...

"With the playoffs three weeks away I just wanted to give everyone a heads up on the plan for the 2011 playoffs. Although Melo is gone the section will continue. Without Carmelo the Nuggets are now easy to cheer, hard working, motivated, entertaining and most importantly winning.

I am working right now with the Nuggets on a new name for the section. If you have any suggestions please let me know. We want to name the section something that doesn't involve a player for obvious reasons. A new name with be chosen this week and a twitter, facebook and new email will follow. With twitter it will be easier to get the publicity we have deserved with the local and national media as well as get updates.

More than likely we will be the #5 seed and play Kevin Durant and #4 OKC Thunder. Therefore we will host games 3,4 and 6 of the series. There is a slim possibility we will be the #4 and OKC will be the #5 or we end up #6 and play #3 Dallas Mavericks. We will continue to try and plan pre and post game activities dependent upon the schedule.

Please add on facebook http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/melosyellows

Please let me know if you plan on attending and how many people. I know its hard this far in advance especially not knowing the exact date and times. We only have 174 tickets this year compared to 300 last year. So I need to know if we have enough to add another whole section, no overflow this year.

Thanks!

No Melo, No Problem

Jonathan"

ive partaken in the melos yellows section in the past and its hella fun.  most everyone is pretty drunk and theres a surprisingly high amount of lovely ladies in the section.  in the past its been $25 for a ticket/tshirt combo.  i would imgaine it will be about the same this year which is a pretty sweet deal.  i plan on attending one first round playoff game with my dad & bro and then another in the melos yellows section with the fellas.  ive also suggested in the past that DS should model an event after melos yellows and buy out section and slap a DS shirt on everyone.  great marketing for DS and good times for the attendees.  anyways, playoffs and spring will soon be in full bloom.  my favorite time of year!

Denver Stiffs mike conley robs memphis a good one. does this improve our gasol chances?

its being reported that the memphis grizzlies have agreed to sign mike conley to a 5 year, $45 million extension.  conley did have a good preseason and his regular season numbers are up this year (15 pts, 8 ast), but its only been three games.  keeping in mind that beantown got rondo for 5 years, $55 million this past summer, i would say memphis got jacked like a flat tire.

Denver Stiffs i dont think melo was hacked, and i do think he wants kat stacks smacked.

this whole deal has really stuck in my craw. if you choose to continue reading, be prepared, this a looooong post.

right off the bat, i want to say that i dont have any red-handed evidence that melo did tweet that hit on kat stacks...yet.  however, i have also yet to see even the slightest PROOF that he DID NOT tweet that hit.

allow me to recap the situation...

Denver Stiffs Hammer time! Gortat available?

what up, stiffs.  im sure that like myself you nugg fans peruse various hoop websites looking for the latest nba news.  and boy o’ boy are things poppin right now with free agency about to open. i just read one report that has beasley and some pieces to the raps for bosh...crazy.  unfortunately, of all the rumors ive read, i havent seen the nuggs mentioned once.  oh, heavy sigh.

but, i caught a link on the dp website saying that orlando is willing to part with gortat.  this news actually comes from gortat himself who did an interview with polish media monday.

Gortat says “Stan Van Gundy and Otis Smith told me that when they have chance to get big star, they won’t hesitate and will add me to this trade. But teams don’t get players to just put them on the bench. (On) another team, there won’t be second Dwight Howard and I will have twice bigger chance to play. It could be step forward for me.”

Gortat was asked if he wants to stay with the Magic or have an opportunity for more playing time elsewhere. “I was thinking about this many times. It’s good to be on a team which plays almost to the end of the playoffs, even if you play only 8-10 minutes. But on the other hand I would like to play for a team when I’ll have chance to fight for starting 5 and for example, score 20 points, (which) is one of my dreams. So it’s hard dilemma.”

so gortat says he could be traded for a “big star”, or more likely, a package deal that included one.  i know the nuggs aren’t trading melo just yet (fuck you, kliza), but maybe orl would go for jr? he could be the scorer that orl wanted vince carter to be.  from what i found, gortat is making $5.9 milli, and jr is around $6 milli.  even if this didn’t work, wark or chapman should call orl and see what they might be able to fanagle.  thats assuming that wark and chapman are even still showing up at the office.  and at this point, that feels like a pretty big assumption.

on a side note, gortats english is FUCKED UP.

Heres the link to the full article: http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/sports_magic/2010/06/gortat-magic-said-he-could-be-traded.html

Denver Stiffs odom "positive" that lakers finish season with #1 seed.

heres an article from nba.com in which both odom and bynum profess to having the #1 seed in the west on lock.  the article goes on to compare the remaining schedules of denver, dallas and la.  anything odom says or does should be taken with a grain of salt because he married a kardashian so hes obviously out of his fucking mind.  kobe was a little more reserved and (could this be true?!?) even gave denver some shine.  heres kobes quote follwed by a link to the entire article...

Asked if he was as confident of this team's road chops as the previous couple seasons, Bryant said, "Sure. I am. But that doesn't mean that it's not trouble. That Denver series last season scared the crap out of all of us. Houston, too. I am extremely confident. At the same time, I know how dangerous that is."

Denver Stiffs where does chauncey rank amongst the greatest nba point guards?

howdy nugg fans...

i visit the dime magazine website pretty frequently.  in between blowing kobe and lebron through print they occasionally find time to focus on some of the other players in the league.  yesterday they ran an article on chauncey and where he ranks amongst the great nba points.  if youre bored at work or on the john looking for something to read, this article and the following comments will help you kill a few minutes.

http://dimemag.com/2010/03/where-does-chauncey-billups-rank-among-the-all-time-great-pgs/

this will probably be covered in the nuggs/wolves recap, but jrs 360 dunk off the oop from billups was ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING.  check it out here...

Denver Stiffs will someone please cast a wrathful spell on the jazz? please?

i check the conference/division standings about 4 or 5 times a week.  and since 2010 has arrived the jazz just keep creeping up on the nuggs.  i keep telling myself that its a fluke and the wheels will come off the jazz anytime now.  but that still hasnt happened.  the jazz ended 2009 with a record of 18-14 (.562 winning %).  in 2010 they have gone 18-5 (.782 winning %).

their wins in 2010 include:

2 against dallas (1 home, 1 away)

3(!) against portland (1 at home, 2 on the road, more on this later)

they also have single wins over nuggs, cavs, suns and @ san an.

a little more on the portland record above.  last night the jazz came back from being down 25+ in the rose garden to beat the blazers.  boozer put up a lasik line (20/20) in the win.  i thought for sure the jazz would lose last night and once again, i thought wrong.

that should-have-never-happened win now puts the jazz just a half game behind the nuggets in the standings and gives them 3rd in the west.  tonight the jazz play atlanta at home.  the birds haven’t left salt lake city with a win since 1993.  17 fucking years.

so nuggs fans, there are pretty good odds that we will wake up tomorrow with the nuggets tied for second in the west with the jazz, and tied for first in the division with the jazz.

ill probably put an ad up on craigslist, but i thought i would start here first.  do any of you happen to know a good witch doctor that could place an especially vile hex on the utah jazz?  even a little voodoo doll of deron williams would probably do the trick.  their winning is getting out of hand and I feel the black arts are the only place left for me to turn.  thanks in advance for any help you give me.

Denver Stiffs Pau F'ing Gasol

TGIF Nugg fans!  It feels like there has been a drought of games over this past week.  The early stages of Nugg withdrawal are starting to set in and it hurts.  Thankfully, we have a game tonight against the Clippers and one against the Bulls tomorrow.  I see us winning both, and 10-3 sounds pretty sweet to me.  However, a black cloud is forming on the horizon.  A full, healthy Lakers squad has returned to the NBA.

The reason for this post is Pau Gasol.  Last night he made his season debut and the Lakers handled the Bulls by 15 points.  Pau had 24 points on 9-14 shooting, 13 boards, 6-6 from the line, and put in 35 minutes of work.  He took scoring pressure off Kobe and helped the Laker offense run really smooth.  To be honest, Kobe doesn’t scare me that much.  At this point, I think his production is neutralized by what Melo does for the Nuggs.  However, we have NO response for Pau.  Frankly, that guy owns us.  I love the Nene/Kmart/Bird front line, but they aren’t going to stop Pau.  A constant discussion on this site is the acquisition of a big man, and lots of good ideas have been proposed.  I don’t know what the Nugg F.O. office has in mind, but I do know that we play the Lakers twice in February (both in LA).  We beat their behind a couple weeks ago, but it will be an entirely different story with Pau in the lineup.  I love my Nuggs, LOVE THEM.  But I think the Lakers are still the team to beat and I think the Nuggs have to add a decent big to get past them.  Hopefully, I’m wrong about this.  Or even better, hopefully the F.O. makes a fucking move, Kroenke shells out some luxury cash, and Denver picks up a decent BIG.

NUGGS UP!!

Denver Stiffs Emeka Okafer in Gold and Blue?

Looks like the Hornets might have him on the trading block.  From the proposed trade mentioned here, the Hornets would ship him to the Kings for Kenny Tomas and his expiring $8 million contract.

http://dimemag.com/2009/11/nba-trade-rumor-emeka-okafor-to-the-kings/

Emeka is 6’10” and 250lbs.  So while he doesn’t meet the seven footer status that many nugg fans are looking for (including myself), he would still be solid for defending the paint and rebounding.  He has career averages of 10.6 boards and 13.9 points.  Here is his NBA page as well with more stats.

http://www.nba.com/playerfile/emeka_okafor/index.html

Figuring out how contracts fit in with trades hurts my head, so I haven’t done the math on what we could offer N.O. in exchange for him.  What I do know is that Pau Gasol won’t be out all season, and sooner or later the nuggs will have to pick up a BIG that can do some rebounding and defending.  So my fellow nugg fans, wha-da-ya-say about Okafor?

BTW, the Hornets have been a train wreck since that 58 point pounding we put on them in the playoffs.  I’m pretty sure we took their soul that night.
