Who are you to judge me?
As a jumping off point, I suggest everyone revisits the ABC's unified rules framework as a reminder of how the modern judging system is designed to be implemented. I could be very much mistaken, but it seems to me that many people approach the judging question with fundamental misconceptions of the unified rules, resulting in more noise than discourse.
A round of MMA, under the unified rules, is much more like a balance than a scoreboard. No technique "scores points", rather, rounds are to be awarded based on the relative effectiveness of the two competitors. The judge's role is to be knowledgeable and attentive enough to adjudicate which of the competitors was more effective.

06/22/2009: Art of Fighting 4: Damage at the Dome
[The TV deal] is finished, it’s done. We’ll be announcing it very, very shortly -- in all likelihood, within the next 12 days.
...
We’ve been working diligently to secure right kind of match-ups for our champions. They’ll be fighting in the interim. They won’t be waiting until we crown a number-one challenger in the season’s tournaments.
Bellator co-founder and CEO Bjorn Rebney talks to Sherdog regarding TV deals and matchmaking, among other topics.

Free Running, a flashier sort of Parkour, seems to me in this competitive context to combine the aesthetics of a gymnastics routine and a skateboarding "street" event. Interesting stuff.
Takehiro "Tiger" Ishii vs. Mikihito Yamagami
08/09/2009: Shooto GIG Saitama 1
That's not a good way for an arm to turn.
An interesting upset for the young flyweight (115lb) division. Yamagami continues to slide from his initial breakout; Ishii is still a long way from his earlier success.
Kevin Iole: UFC again changes mind on Leites, McCrory
"News of the move to drop the men surfaced on Thursday. But late Thursday, White told Yahoo! Sports they had been dropped but that he would "fix" it and that they would not be cut.
However, after discussing the move internally on Friday, White changed his mind and opted to let Leites and McCrory go."
Brutal. Those knees sounded horrible. Kitaoka threw up almost as soon as he was up.

5thRound.com reports that we finally get to hear Brock Lesnar's thoughts on Barnett's steroid test failure, as he appeared on the Jim Rome show: "I don’t like to talk bad about anybody. I think it was a poor decision on Josh’s part."
Lesnar also discussed his own hopes to fight Fedor at some point in the future.

Shooto Revolutionary Exchanges 1: Undefeated
This Sunday's Shooto card is missing a few elements that the other big upcoming Japanese cards have, most notably weight classes over 155lbs and a TV deal with HDNet. I put it to you that Shooto--Revolutionary Exchanges 1: Undefeated makes up for these deficiencies in a big way, both by staging some meaningful bouts in lower weight classes and by strength of it's typically unwieldy name.
I entertained notions of breaking down the card accurately and insightfully, but I'm too stupid and lazy. Instead, here is the card, obligatory fight-finder linkage, merit-less opinions, and a some videos that I certainly wasn't helpful enough to have uploaded myself.
