I attended Ucla 1958-1961. Lettered in varsity football three years as an offensive guard and defensive tackle. Co-captain my senior year with Harry Baldwin who played center and was an outstanding athlete. My senior year I made All Coast 1st string offensive guard honors as well as Honorable Mention All American. I was one of those notorious "gutty" little bruins. I weighed in about 210 at beginning of each season and by end of season weighed 176 lbs. dripping wet.
I love Ucla and Ucla football and basketball. I had the honor of having a priivate conversation with legendary Coach John Wooden in his office at his request. In those days the coaches shared offices in an old temporary building now long gone. Let me tell you, what an honor that was. Also, I was recruited by the other legendary Ucla coach, Henry 'Red' Sanders. Unfortunately, he passed away just before fall practice when I was working out on my old high school (Inglewood H.S.) practice field. What a shock and a terrible loss. Needless to say I was stunned. Still I wouldn't trade any of my bruin experiences for anything. The friends I made on that team are priceless. Most of us still get together every summer at the Del Mar Race Track along with the Kelps of that era.
I graduated with a B.S. Degree, class of '61 in Business Administration, School of Finance, when Ucla had an undergraduate business school. Currently, I am retired and live in Vernal, UT and am a proud member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and love serving the Lord.
