One Fan's Notes From UCLA's 2010 Fall Scrimmage

Notes from UCLA's 2010 preseason football scrimmage.

Antwon Moutra to Transfer

6

I'll miss him. After watching him the last couple spring games, I always thought that it would be interesting to see him on the field a little more. I hope he gets a chance to play wherever he goes.

UCLA ranked #8 in Ted Miller's Post Spring Power Rankings

13

I'm sure Nestor will be getting to this tomorrow, but I didn't want to wait! 8th? Really? Let's hope not.

ESPN BIO: "Neuheisel sees his opening"

2

ESPN's Ramona Shelburne does a nice story on Rick Neuheisel. Is this is a subtle apology from ESPN to all the Bruin fans out there over the Norm Chow foul up?

Alvin Logan!

7

or is it? You make the call!

Five UCLA players mid-season All-Americans

3

Phil Steele awards 5 UCLA players - Brian Price, Reggie Carter, Rahim Moore, ATV & Kai Forbath - All American status. Go Bruins!

On Brian Price...

1

Nice little piece on Brian Price and his family from a Eugene newspaper.

Excellent Pregame Analysis by BRO

3

So far, this might be the best pregame analysis (Bruins Nation excluded!) I've seen for the game this weekend. I can't wait!

New O-line Starters and Craft is #2

+

Jeff Baca will start at LG. Mike Harris won the RT spot when Hasiak got a stinger and Baca moved to LG. The new line up is Su'a-Filo, Baca, Maiava, Williams, Harris. The coaches also decided that Kevin Craft would be Prince's backup if Prince goes down. That article is here. My DIY Expertise post will be updated with the new starters.

Miller Ranks our O-line 10th in the PAC.

1

According to Ted MIller, our offensive line is looking "unsettled". On the bright side, we are rated in the top 100% of the PAC-10. I hope our guys prove Miller wrong! Also, how are we rated lower than Washington State, who we slightly outplayed at O-line last year, when four of our guys beat out last year's starters? Go figure.

Cal's UCLA preview

2

An interesting take on the UCLA-CAL game.

Jet Ski Franklin is #1 on Depth Chart!

9

Franklin jumped Coleman to #1 on the depth chart in today's practice!

Kevin Prince to Win Heisman

2

Addicted to Quack's UCLA Preview

Addicted to Quack previews the Oregon-UCLA game for the upcoming season. It looks like they got several things wrong, but at least you can go get their perspective.

Pac-10 Position Breakdown: Secondary – UCLA

+

All PAC-10 does another great position review. This time, it covers the UCLA secondary. The DIY Expertise position guide has been updated with this link.

Aric Armstead, UCLA's Youngest Recruit

+

A nice little story from the Sacramento Bee on our youngest recruit with a scholarship offer. Aric Armstead's brother currenty plays for USC.

Nik Abele Generating Some Buzz

+

In this article stub, Jill Painter mentions that Paclic literally begged CRN to keep Abele on the offensive line. Has anyone else noticed that whenever CRN talks about the freshmen offensive linemen, Abele is ALWAYS mentioned. I wonder if we could be talking about THREE potential freshman starters this season.

Aaron Corp Cracks Leg Bone

12

USC's #1 QB has cracked his leg bone. They have had uncertainty at the QB position in the offseason, in terms of who would win the starting position. This will present an opportunity for Barkley and Mustain.

Prince Taking Over

+

"It is a designation he earned during spring practice and has worked for six weeks to build on. He has resumed duties more confident, louder and more brash. This is his team, he believes, and it is up to him to make everyone else know." -Jon Gold (SGV Tribune) on Kevin Prince

Bumped. GO BRUINS. -N Maiava (No. 51) will be anchoring the Bruin OL in 2009. Photo Credit: dabruins07 (flickr) In 2009, I'm pretty sure Kai Maiava will lock down and dominate the center...
