2 million buys for Cotto-Pacquiao?

2

Rey Colón of the ´El Vocero´ of Puerto Rico reported that the welterweight mega-fight between Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto generated approximately 2 million pay-per-view buys generating at least $120 million. No word on what Pacquiao´s cut will be but Cotto was mentioned to be making at least $10 million minimum. This would be really surprising if true. Especially since Arum said around 1.5 mill earlier

Per his twitter: "Something tells me Rick Pitino n the Cardinals wwill have a big year. Rick is totally focusing on family n team. That means lots of W's."

This video of Adrian Peterson running over former Card William Gay also symbolizes the way Cardinal football has been plowed into the ground this season. And also we, the Card faithful, are poor William and AD is Krag running over our hopes and interest in the season.

Tony Pike out vs. Louisville

Cincinnati QB Tony Pike has already been ruled out of next Saturdays game against Louisville, according to Brian Kelly. Since he is the coach, he should know. Zach Collaros, who entered during the...

"But with all due respect to the powers-that-be at Louisville, why in the hell do they think that Gruden would want the job?"

6

Via Pro Football Talk comes the headline and the following. "Louisville is currently a mid-level Big East program. If Gruden were to dip his toe into the college waters, he'd go to the Big Ten or the SEC or Notre Dame." And this. "So while Gruden might indeed be the first man Louisville targets, they'd might as well add Mike Shanahan, Mike Holmgren, Bill Cowher, and Vince Lombardi to the list, too. All men have an equal chance, in our view, of becoming the next head coach of the Cardinals." Already raining on the Gruden parade before we even had time to make confetti.

Sagarin's all-time college basketball rankings rate Louisville #11

Top 5 are Kentucky, UCLA, Kansas, Carolina and Indiana. Here is where the crazy starts continues. 6-10, Illinois, Duke, Purdue, Ohio State, Iowa. Other crazy notables, Minnesota 14, USC 25, Wisconsin 28, Georgetown 42, Arizona 49, UConn 54.

Mosley and Hopkins free agents?

1

I haven't seen this posted here. Per the story: Although they're still allowing Golden Boy Promotions to negotiate their fights, Boxingtalk.com has been informed that neither Bernard Hopkins nor Shane Mosley have valid promotional contracts with GBP.

I couldn't put the picture up in it's own link, but Jared Dudley posted a picture of Earl Clark wearing a banana suit on twitter. Enjoy

OT: Mayweather-Marquez fight

  1. You can be like me and watch it at the Cinemark Tinseltown
  2. The card starts at 9
  3. It's like $12.50 I think
  4. No one else I know is going, and I need someone to talk to, so go anyway, out of pity
  5. I did this as a list because I have never seen a list on here

Floyd to be accompanied by Triple H Saturday

8

Triple H is the second wrestler to accompany a boxer this year, after Batista accompanied Manny Pacquiao. I would be a Money May fan for life if he did the HHH spit water at the crowd pose.

Fox Sports has Samardo as 5th team All-American

1

Other Big East entrants include Luke Harangody on the 1st team, Greg Monroe and Kemba Walker on the 4th team, and Devin Ebanks on the 5th team. In case you were wondering, John Wall on the 1st team, and Patty Patterson on the 2nd team. If someone else posted this, read this anyway

Clay Matvick, and David Diaz-Infante set to call the action Saturday

2

Never heard of them, but I'm sure whoever calls the noon game on ESPNU has to be top notch

Mario Urrutia to Tampa Bay practice squad.

+

Another ex-Card practice squad alert. Taken from article "Also, the Bucs signed cornerback Kyle Arrington, receiver Patrick Carter, defensive tackle Rashaad Duncan, running back Kareem Huggins, tackle James Lee, tight end Ryan Purvis, and receiver Mario Urrutia to the practice squad."

Brian Brohm joins Green Bay's practice squad

3

Brian was waived, no one claimed him, and he decided to stay. Don't believe me? QB Brian Brohm has signed with the Packers' practice squad, a source said. He had other options but chose to come back to the Packers.

Brian Brohm waived

+

Disappointing news as the best UofL quarterback of the my generation has been waived by Green Bay. If he is not claimed, he would be a free agent and probably go to Green Bay's practice squad.

Justin Martin to Xavier

+

As I'm sure everyone remembers, he de-pledged this spring and has now chosen Xavier. He had this to say about Louisville. "The first time, I think I was a little immature and just wanting to commit to a 'name' program. This time I really had a chance to look at my options and build a relationship with the coaches."

Pavlik fat?

1

"Forget all this about a staph infection or a knuckle problem," a second source told me. "It is an inner tube problem because Pavlik's inactivity this year has caused him to balloon in weight." Someone linked to this on twitter, so I put it here. I don't know how valid it is, but do any of us?

Haye v. Valuev in November

3

Former cruiserweight champion David Haye will get a heavyweight title shot but it won't come against Vitali Klitschko, as has been in the works. Instead, the former cruiserweight champion will challenge heavyweight titlist Nikolai Valuev on Nov. 7 in Germany after snubbing the deal to fight Klitschko, Haye's trainer and manager Adam Booth told ESPN.com on Wednesday. The revelation was the end of a curious day. Klitschko manager Bernd Boente and adviser Shelly Finkel couldn't reach Booth to finalize a deal they thought they had agreed to for Klitschko-Haye to meet Sept. 12 at the 55,000-seat Commerzbank Arena in Frankfurt, Germany. The fight would have had live television coverage on HBO in the United States.
