Yeah, I think it's safe to assume he is going to climb in the other rankings. Not that it matters.

Why? Because I watched UConn play all year, and not just in the tournament.

Exactly

I agree, but I was conceding that it was a hindsight argument that has nothing to do with the info available to the Committee at seeding time.

Nothing. But it's a fun fact, no?

I doubt that you do, since I said nothing about UConn being underseeded (and your first paragraph is devoted to that argument).

Saw that too. He tried to do a little too much at times, but he seemed to improve as the games wore on.

I voted for Marc, even though I agree with those who were outraged by the shitty job the Committee did this year.
Commented on 2013-14 Card Chronicle LCPT Final 4: The NCAA Tournament Selection Committee Vs. Marc Summers on Jul 16 2014, 4:03p
Exactly. Nobody here (at least nobody I know) thinks the Selection Committee was "out to get" us. They just did an awful job, and it wasn't limited to our seeding.

Recruiting has come so far in the last 4-5 years. It is no coincidence that we've enjoyed two Final Fours, a national title, and multiple conference titles.

The only advantage that I think Cal's teams enjoy, other than NBA talent, is that they have overwhelming momentum in the series

Thank you. The first game was very close, and they needed a minor miracle to win the second one.

Agreed about the seeding and the path that was set before us. That said, we should have beaten Kentucky.

Right, but that doesn't mean they were the best team. In a single-elimination tournament, the best team doesn't always win.

His odds of making an NBA roster this year look awfully slim, so I hope Chane takes advantage of the opportunity to make some good money overseas next year while honing his skills

Yeah, I can see that. I thought there was a bit of a disconnect between Bilas and Simmons - didn't notice it as much with Jalen.

Really enjoyed this piece. Would love to hear more of the author's thoughts on the "strangely uncomfortable" dynamic with ESPN's draft coverage.

Sure, different teams have different needs, and you've laid out the reasonable arguments for Shabazz being picked in front of Russ.

Fair point. I would very much enjoy seeing LeBron ditch Miami in the offseason, but I don't think it's happening.

FWIW, I do think Trez fouled him. From the last replay, it looks to me like Trez got him across the right arm, leading to Poythress losing the ball.

I can usually find something to complain about re officiating when we lose, and over time, I usually see that my complaints were overblown or just wrong. That is not true for this game.
