OT: BCB opening day meet?

i was just curious who all is going to be going to opening day this year. i've been on this board for 3 years and have yet to meet a fellow bcb'er. is there a meet planned anywhere? is there any interest in one? logistically it could be pretty easy, there is a bar right across from the first base entrance. (for some reason at the juicebox the visitor's side is 3rd base). it's a split level bar, the name escapes me at the moment but it's right across crawford street. it would be ideal.

ughhhh.

sometimes it really hurts. bud selig is a moron and i will keep typing until i get to 75 words to placate mr. sb post rules maker man.

damn the man, save the empire... let's get rid of fonzie, put dero in left and add brian roberts oh yeah! i only need 10 more words so i guess i will just say this current world series has been a disappointment. the officiating is horrendous and i don't like the ray hawk.

i just wanted to say thankyou to al for another year of great write-ups, stats, and the time it takes you as a dedicated fan to do all that you do. for giving us cub fans a place to congregate and vent or celebrate. i'm sure you have a day job, and all kinds of other responsibilities as most of us do, but still find the time day after day to crank out knowledgeable and entertaining content.

my only suggestion is that next year we replace gratuitous photos of geo with the girls of wrigley.

2) a substance abuse policy for the referees should be implemented... ed hochuli is definitely going to anti-aging clinics.
3) rich gannon, trent dilfer, and brett favre all have either a superbowl ring or an mvp. all three should be retired.
4) brandon marshall is the next TO/ Randy Moss (and my fantasy 8th round pick).
5) kurt warner or kerry collins > brett favre.. as far as seniors go.

DR Congo frees goats from prison

It is not known what the goats' punishment might have been

A minister in the Democratic Republic of Congo has ordered a Kinshasa jail to release a dozen goats, which he said were being held there illegally.

Deputy Justice Minister Claude Nyamugabo said he found the goats just in time during a routine jail visit.

The beasts were due to appear in court, charged with being sold illegally by the roadside.

The minister said many police had serious gaps in their knowledge and they would be sent for retraining.

Mr Nyamugabo was conducting a routine visit to the prison when, he said, he was astonished to discover not only humans, but a herd of goats crammed into a prison cell in the capital.

He has blamed the police for the incident.

It is not clear what will happen to the owners of the goats, who have also been imprisoned.

BBC Africa analyst Mary Harper says that given the grim state of prisons in Congo, the goats will doubtless be relieved about being spared a trial.

There was no word on what their punishment would have been, had they been found guilty.

it worked last year when we lost 3 or 4 straight. i'm not sure exactly when but it was the same weekend as the texas a&m fresno game i believe. i figured it would work again so i went saturday and it did work saturday but of course yesterday we lost. however i have power again :D

just doing my part to provide all the positive mojo i can.

if ike looks like it's headed this way i swear i am driving straight to wrigley field and sleeping under the bleachers.

i hate hurricane season.

it's been a losing streak since i last signed off pre-gustav

i have power back now..... and internet.

looks like it's headed right for us.

i have evacuated to about an hour outside of new orleans.

the cops use the place where i live as a staging ground for NOPD and the Fire Dept so I had to be out by friday. I'm not sure how long we'll be without power or internet. i'll try to update this once or twice a day.

anyways keep us in your thoughts and go cubbies.

MLB extra innings free preview...

i know it didnt matter much over the weekend, but those of you around the country who have cox cable can watch the cubbies tonight through wednesday as MLB extra innings is running a free preview. i opted to pass on the package this year for a few reasons, mainly because i wouldn't be at home as much. i do appreciate the free preview however...
