Talking Chop Beginner Repository of Statistics

Typically, I feel I have good baseball intuition. I'm confident that I can identify a player's worth based on my vigorous travel and observation as a casual baseball scout (i.e. MLB Extra Innings); however, when I read the excellent discussions on here, I'm lost when acronyms such as WAR and SFR are used. I mean don't get me wrong, I am quite accustomed to the other ones, such as FYF. But to add credible relevance to debate, I would like to learn more about baseball statistics. Especially defensive metrics.

Normally, I'll google acronyms as I read them, but this is on an ad-hoc basis. After a month or so, I'll find myself googling the same acronym again. Is there a website, blog, etc. that discusses all the advanced statistics and what they mean? And not just a overview of every stat, more of a "how-to" guide to identify good offense and defense. I tend to overanalyze the offensive triple-slash and defensive ERA and K/BB.

As I learn more about the statical side of baseball, I pledge to contribute more to fan posts and game day threads in addition to providing humor in the form of Justin Bieber jokes.

Talking Chop What would be your closer intro music?

The closer has been my favorite position since I was a young lad watching Dennis Eckersley. Since then, closers have obtained the glorious right to have intro music played while in their home ballpark; heck, even most bullpen pitchers have intro music these days.

My question to you is what would be the song that you jog out to in the bottom of the 9th? I think mine would be Metallica's "For Whom the Bell Tolls."

Talking Chop MLB should sign Boras

With all of the lucrative deals that Boras is able to solidify, it's obvious he is one of the reasons why the big market clubs gather all the free agents. Can you imagine MLB without Boras representing clients?

IMO, each MLB team should kick in $1mm a year and pay off Boras for the next ten years in which he is prohibited to represent any MLB player ever. Eh, merely nothing more than a rant during the slow stove times, but it would be nice to be able to compete for a Matt Holliday type one day.
