Sports USA Radio Broadcast
Did anyone else hear the radio broadcast of the LV bowl?
The wife and I had a meeting just before kickoff, so I was relegated to radio for the first half. The local station broadcasting the game in Dallas was feeding the Sports USA broadcast. Some guy name Rich Cellini was doing play-by-play, and Gary Barnett was on color.
The link in the title is just highlights, so it doesn't have all the good parts, but I was really impressed with Barnett. Being an ex-Big12 coach, I thought he would go all "Jimmy Johnson" circa Fiesta07. Not at all. He couldn't stop raving about Kellen and Doug. You hear it a little after the 3rd touchdown in the highlights, but they cut out about 45 seconds more of him talking about Kellen. His quote was something along the lines of, "I keep hearing about his lack of arm strength. There was no air under that ball at all. You can't make that throw without arm strength." It was like he was seeing him for the first time and falling in love. And it wasn't just one occasion. He had about 3 swoons in the first half. I almost started to get uncomfortable.
Big East Rumor
I was just listening to The Ticket in Dallas. The host mentioned a rumor he had heard regarding the Big East. He did not list a source. The rumor goes that Big East commissioners are meeting today in Chicago to talk about inviting 6 schools. I can't remember all of them, but the list included the following 4:
Central Florida
SMU
Houston
Boise State
Ugh. Please, no. Just let the Big East die. Please?
I'll see if I can get a source and more details.
Need Help Finding Fiesta I Article
A few months back during the voting for the OBNUG People's Champion, Drew referenced Pat Forde's epic article (Cinderella meets Lady Liberty) about BSU's '07 Fiesta Bowl. I loved that article, and I saw a few responses in the comments section expressing the same feelings. It's rare that an actual article is remembered years after the event. A game itself, yes. The article about the game, not so much. A sign of true greatness? Not for me to judge.
Anyway, that got me thinking about other articles from that Fiesta Bowl. There was one I liked even more than Forde's, but I can't remember where I read it. Read the synopsis after the jump and help me out if you can.
I Thought This Was Rivalry Week
So where are all the Vandal jokes? Everyone is trying too hard to live up to this shirt.
Even the OBNUG mission statement asserts:
One Bronco Nation Under God (OBNUG) seeks to provide a source of relevant BSU news, mature BSU perspective, and biased BSU commentary with wit, reason, timeliness, and irreverence. That, and Vandal jokes.
We've only got 10 hours until kick-off! Let's get this party started!
The Most Interesting Quarterback in the World
Forgive me if this joke has already been made (I didn't read the game thread because I didn't have three hours to spare -- over a thousand posts -- holy cow!).
"He once threw an interception just so he could teach the defense how to make the perfect open-field form tackle. He is The Most Interesting Quarterback in the World."
"I don't always play football, but when I do, I prefer to win."
Stay sportsy, my friends.

Did 4-Letters Save Big 12?
From the book of Saint Chip, chapter 874, verses 8-20. A "major television network" swooped in to sign the deal . . . not because it would be profitable, but because they couldn't bear to lose all of college football's elite teams to conference networks. Link above is to podcast (hate the host, btw). Relevant moments at 6:00-ish and 14:00-ish.
Host thinks network is Fox, but ESPN makes more sense since they already air Big12 games on sister network ABC. Plus, Fox already has a setup w/ Pac10+.
