Arrowhead Pride Various THoughts

Let me first start off by saying that I'm a little disappointed so far in free agency. The only move we have made is for a runningback that is not necessarily a need. However, I really like our team heading into next year. We have a solid team heading into 2012. Our defense is nasty and we have all the pieces to have a really good offense.

We got playmakers across the board minus our quarterback. Now I know that is an essential part of a football team, but I'm getting this feeling that the Chiefs are going to trade back, and keep trading back and pick up Brandon Weeden. I would not be against this move at all. I know the guy is old compared to other players coming out, but if he can give us five great years at the position, I'm sold. He would come in and immediatly compete, and looking at him in college i would say he would win the job early.

My point is, I guess, is that it's very easy to get mad and be upset. Trust me if we roll #7 out there again I do not know what I'm going to do. I'm just saying there are still a couple of options for this team. Flynn is still out there, Tannehill could be available if we trade up, and Weeden will for sure be there for us at 11. None of these options equal up to receiving Manning, but the way I see it is if Manning wants to go to Denver, then it gives me reason to root for the Chiefs to embarrass his decision twice a year.

Get excited when you think about the players on our team. Tamba Hali, Brandon Flowers, Dwayne Bowe, Derrick Johnson, Jamaal Charles, Jon Baldwin, Dexter Mccluster, Moeaki...I'm getting fired up just thinking about it. Lets hold off on the negativity for now. We need to at least wait two straight losses early before we start calling it a season before it even starts.

We can still get Eric Winston, I'm sure that will fire this fan base up a little. Hey, Peyton HIllis is a stud in my eyes. I Can't wait to see him as a change of pace back blowing guys up on the six yard line to walk across the line for six points. I have to believe that this orginization is not so stupid to see that Matt is not the answer, and our team is not young anymore so they have to feel that they need to make something happen soon. I'm not saying our window is closing shortly like the Celtics in basketball, but were for sure not one of the youngest teams in the league anymore. Plus, why tag Bowe for a year? The front office, IM praying, is going to try and make a run this year. Bowe is not dumb, he is looking around the league and seeing all these receivers getting paid outragous $$$. He will hit the market next year for sure, so the time is now for this team.

Arrowhead Pride St. Joseph welcomes you Chiefs

Good morning Arrowhead Pride!!! I was born and raised in the city of Saint Joseph, and as a citizen of this city I want to welcome all of you that come and visit our city for training camp. I was getting really worried with the lockout that we would not have camp here this year, however, that is not the case and I'm thrilled. There are a few places I would love to tell you about if your looking to kill time here.

If you want a beer and some good food I would recommend Uncle D's Bar and Grill. Its a good time with lots of t.v's and some good specials just for training camp. If your looking to shop and kill some time our North Village has anything you could ask for as far as that goes. The best sub in town is down in the south end of Saint Joseph, that place my friends is called Mareks Deli. I know we are a small town compared to the Kansas City area, however the people here are greatful to have you all here, and are proud to host the Kansas City Chiefs.

ALso I'm going to throw this out there, if anyone is looking to purchase a new or used vehicle come see me at Cecil Myers Mitsubishi. We got a great selection of new and used cars. I know I'm kind of self promoting here, but I figured it was a shot...haha

Again Saint Joseph welcomes all of you! I hope you have a great time in our small city and enjoy watching camp.

My email address is cbthreeone31@yahoo.com if you have any questions about the city or purchasing a vehicle!!

Arrowhead Pride Year 3 It's Time

First off, last year was one of the most fun seasons that I have watched in alot of years. I know we had a pretty weak schedule, but regardless wins are wins and our Chiefs did enough to get into the playoffs. I personally was not expecting much last year after watching year 1 of Todd's Chiefs. Year 2 was great, but that was last year and this is this year.

Year three may or may not come, but let's pretend it is. We as Chiefs fans need to change our attitudes for this upcoming season. I can't stand when people come up to me talking Chiefs about this year and make excuses. "Oh well we have one of the hardest schedules." "I'm not expecting much this year, I would be happy with a 500 season."

I'm tired of it KC! Let's change this type of thinking. This is year 3 ladies and gents and I'm telling you right now I'm demanding more from this team. Our "young guys" are not actually that young anymore. Our core is now in their third and fourth season. Our head coach is now in his third year. I know this is a building process, so the way I see it anything less that one victory in the playoffs is a disappointment.

I'm not going to call for any coaches heads or anything like that, however we should be top dogs in our division, and this city and surrounding areas should have that mentality. Lets change these mindsets and be winners. I demand more improvements, and I demand a better football team than last years. In order to be the best we need to start beating the New England's, Steelers, and Bears.

One last note if anyone is coming down to training camp this year in St. Joseph and is looking for a vehicle, I just started at job at Cecil Myers Mitsubishi so come in and let me put you into a new ride! Name is Craig Brown

Arrowhead Pride Holding players accountable

I know that this topic is old and people are over it. I'm sorry but I'm just wondering how AP feels about this.

After watching every show on ESPN for the last week talk about illegal hits, I began to realize how stupid the NFL is for making a knee jerk reaction. I do not know if anyone else watched Jason Taylor talk about the whole thing on NFL Live. He made complete sense to me, when he talked about an offensive player makaing one move to protect himself, and how it creates many problems for the defensive player.

I watched the video and it blew my mind how crappy that the NFL described what a good hit vs a bad hit was. Regardless, I think everyone can tell when a guy is purposly trying to hurt someone. Anyway, the NFL is fining all these players for hits, and I began to wonder. Does the NFL fine refs for bad calls?

Now hear me out. If the players are to be held to such high standards to make a judgement in split seconds, then why should the refs not be held to the same standards? I'm saying if you already do this and fine them for bad calls, then make it public that a ref got fined for their bad call. I would feel so much better about last week if that ref got fined 5,000 for making a horrific call.

Arrowhead Pride Taking it all in

I am the first person to tell you I'm not a big fan of Cassel. I am the first person to tell you I do not agree with Thomas taking more carries than Charles. However, I am not going to be the first person to tell you I do not enjoy everything that is going on. I'm sorry but I would take Cassel as our QB over Aaron Rodgers, and I will take Thomas taking more carries right now than Charles, for the simple fact that we are 2-0. I would take both situations right now rather than being 1-1 or 0-2. I have people at work talking about the Chiefs, and not just talking but thrilled! They can't wait to hit the break room to talk some football with me. These are the same guys that just sit there at break and just want the day to be over with.

Lets take a step back and realize what is happening with our Chiefs. We're heading into week to with a meaning to this game. Not just a game, like in the past, where we're hoping our team progresses. This was a team that were on all the highlights when a game is showing a players big game. Now we have a defense that we should be proud of so far. Now we take 2-0 for granted? I have been seeing all the post about people being frustrated about Charles not getting carries, and how Cassel isjust garbage. I agree Cassel is garbage, however, I will take him being garbage for this short time where it feels good about being a Chiefs fan. Let's be honest with one self, we're not the greatest team, and even a team to get to the super bowl, but we do look like a team that is on the rise. We were not sure with Herm, but now we see it! I'm so excited for this team, and I'll tell you this much, we will be in alot more games this year, and more competitive this year than ever before. I ask all of you, to just enjoy this, because this could be another year where you go, " Oh well next year we will be good", because I believe this year we are good, and next year we will be contenders. When is the last time you ever said that to yourself? I'm a Royals fan, and to be honest, I'm sick of it. Place yourself in another year like last year as a Chiefs fan, at least this year we have a meaningful game in week three. Not just another game, but a meaningful game. We are all over blogs, sports writers columns, and in the break rooms. Please just enjoy it..... lets wait till next year to be so critical...cant wait that long? Wait till our first lost...

Arrowhead Pride Anyone else notice what Cassel does?

I honestly hope I am wrong when I say this, but I do not think that we have a very good quarterback in Matt Cassel. I have given the guy a year and three preseason games to determine this, and, yes, I know that may be a little soon to call the guy out. However, I see nothing special from this guy. He has not impressed me at all. There is very few plays I have saw that I sit there and think to myself, "Wow that guy is special".

It almost seems like Matt knows where he is going before the snap of the ball. His head is locked onto one or two guys. The only time he looks one way and then throws the other way is on a screen pass. Several times in last nights game I found myself rewinding the tape and seeing a guy running wide open over the middle. There was one play last night where he pumped faked at the same guy two times then threw the ball at that same guy for an incompletion.

I'm not calling for Brodie, however I feel he is a more "special" quarterback than Cassel, but the guy can't stay healthy. I really do hope that next year in the draft we address the quarterback need. I really do hope that Cassel can prove me wrong and be one of the top tier quarterbacks in the league. Right now, I feel we have an average quarterback on an above average offense.

Arrowhead Pride Arrowhead Coming to St. Joseph, MO

Okay I have read many posts about the Chiefs coming to St. Joseph, and I was just wondering how many people were going to make the drive to watch our players.

I live in St. Joseph and was wondering how many people would want to meet up. I have several friends that read the site everyday, but they do not have a screen name or ever comment or write post.I know they would all get together after a practice or something to go eat somewhere and have a few drinks.

If anyone is planning on this make sure you write it up and we could all meet up and talk some football and put some faces with screen names.

Arrowhead Pride Radio personality had a great take on the Chiefs

This morning radio personality Bob Fescoe explained how he thought that management at Arrowhead were putting alot of eggs in Romeo Crennel basket. I have not really thought about this until Fescoe mentioned it. I find it a very interesting point of view, however many things did not make sense. Every team hires a coordinator to come in a develop players on their particular side of the ball, but I can't grasp the thought of K.C management expecting Crennel to come in and have a drastic change on the defense from previous guys this year. I do think that there will be a big change from last year to this year, but I can't grasp the idea that this guy is going to develop a guy like Tyson Jackson and Glenn Dorsey in one offseason.

My point is that Crennel has maybe a hand in two guys being drafted (Arenas, Berry), that is very few of the guys that he wants to play football the way he likes. I'm not going to sit here and expect something from guy's like Tyson Jackson, Glenn Dorsey, and Derrick Johnson to all of a sudden be different people than what they have shown. I hope I am completly wrong and Crennel comes in and is "God-LIke" and makes these guys play to their full potential. I believe Crennel can, but I'm not throwing all my eggs in his basket in one offseason. I think if this defense is in the top third of the league it will be from the play of Brandon Flowers, Tamba Hali, and his draft picks Berry and Arenas. Then, I think improved play by these guys(Dorsey,,Jackson,Carr) could make this defense one of the best this season. If Crennel does develop these guys its going to take more time than one offseason. I'm looking for improved play, not a sudden change of play from the guys mentioned.

Arrowhead Pride A funny bet a guy made me

I don't usually write on here very much, however the draft is coming up and I love the draft and my Chiefs. I was out drinking with my family and I was wearing my Chiefs jersey. A friend of my uncles came up to me and told me that I was crazy for being a fan of the Chiefs, and the hiring of Romeo and Weis is not that big of a deal. He is a die hard Chargers fan. I, personally, do not have the same hatred for the Chargers as I do the Broncos and the Raiders. It really distrurbed me and we started argueing back and forth. He told me he would come to my house and give me 100 dollars if the Chiefs won four games this year. I took the bet and told him he is out of his mind, but I would not have any problem with taking his money. We made a contract and both signed it.

I am 100 percent confident that our team has drastically got better even prior to this draft with the new coaches and the new signings. I thought it might fire up a few of the arrowheadpride nation as well. I am so pumped up for this upcoming season its crazy. Just thought a few of you would read this and realize that last year our Chiefs won four games, and with hardly any talent. Just imagine how good this team is going to be. Now I'm not saying we are a contender for a championship, but seriously four games with what we had last year? This year I can see us winning our division or at least be in the hunt all year.

Arrowhead Pride Free Agency 2012 - Not who we should go get or anything

I don't know if anyone has paid attention to all the players that have left the K.C Chiefs this year and what they have said after they left.

Bernard Pollard leaves and Pioli and Hailey try to black ball this guy from joining another team. LJ leaves (great I can't stand this guy) but has nothing good to say about Haley. T.O comments on his Facebook page talking about LJ being with better coaches this and that. Tony G leaves and talks about not being yelled and like a rookie in the league.

My point is what player is going to want to even come to our team?

If people think that players do not text and tweet each other then they are crazy. I guarantee you what Haley and Pioli are doing is not building an empire they are creating a bad wrap to come play in K.C.

You think a player is going to come here over another place? What's going to happen is we are going to get the third teer players that no one else wants. Some will say that's okay we will just pay them a lot of money. However, if we know anything about the ways in New England they do not overpay their players.  I'm sorry but the only way to do this right is to build through the draft, and how long will that take?

I have heard rumors that some of the games this year will be blacked out. The Chiefs can't afford to take along time to turn this around. The fans of K.C will leave, the games will not be shown on t.v., and by the time they turn this around through the draft...will the fans return? I know I sound really down and maybe like a hater, but seriously I mean am I the only one that feels this way?

Arrowhead Pride First Time Writer ....

Okay I'm sorry I have read this website for about two years and I think it is great. I have been a fan of the Scott Pioli signing and the signing of coach Todd Haley.

However, I find myself questioning everything that this regime is doing. I really do hope that they have some kind of "Plan" or whatever people talk about. There is certainly one thing that is not common with this team and every other team in this league. We have a coach that would probably do well in High School.

Bernard Pollard getting released really pissed me off. I did not say anything because I thought maybe we would bring someone into this league that would be better in the pass than Pollard. How can we not think that this was the worse move ever now? We just sit here as a nation and talk about what we can do to get better? Does everybody actually think we are making moves to make this team better?

I do not believe so. The signing of Mike Brown was suppose to componsate the losing of Bernard Pollard. Mike Brown has single handedly loss us a game, and gave up two big plays to Miles Austen that we should have won. Texans feel pretty luckly when they have a guy that is putting them in the right place to win games. When is Haley going to learn that yelling and screaming at players is not going to win them games. It is leading people into the right direction that is going to win them games.

Not putting people down. Everyone here can agree that they know their capabilities and what they are good at. It does not take an arrogant person to scream at them that is going to produce the best out of people. I am a lifelong fan and personally I am irrate about what is going on here. Let's look at ourselves and look at what happened today.

Clearly, Charles should have been starting from day one. He did not look impressive like alot of fantasy websites pridicted, but he did not just run into the back of one of the linemen and fall down. I'm sorry I am pissed off and I think alot of people here should be. I can't keep watching this bull crap all year long. I know I will, but the only thing from keeping me from turning the channel is watching a fantasy person on the other team.
