Canal Street Chronicles Brett Favre vs. Saints

I was just sitting here thinking (kinda scary I know). How has Brett Favre fared against the Saints during his career? Even more so how has he done vs. the Saints in the Superdome? Well after some stat research it turns out the Saints have only faced Favre five times total during the regular season throughout his career (somehow I thought it was more). Since starting with Green Bay in 1992 Favre is 3-2 vs. the Saints and 2-1 vs. the Saints in the Dome. It’s kind of strange that the first three meetings with Favre were all in the Dome, the Saints didn’t even face Favre in Green Bay until 2005 (the infamous 52-3 beat down game). So let’s check out the stats for those three Dome games. In 1993 Green Bay won 19-17, Favre was 18-32 for 150 yds. with 1 TD. and he was sacked 6 times. For those of you who can remember Wade Wilson was the Saints QB at the time. In 1995 Green Bay won again 34-23, Favre was much better this time going 21-30 for 308 yds. with 4 TD’s and was sacked twice. Good ole Jim Everett was the Saints QB (remember the Jim Rome incident?). There was a little stretch before the next meeting in 2002 which the Aaron Brooks led Saints won 35-20. Favre was 29-44 for 270 yds. 2 TD’s w/1 Int. and 1 sack. One interesting stat about this game was Aaron Brooks was picked twice during the game, once by Mike McKenzie and once by Darren Sharper (returned 44yds btw). The last two times the Saints faced Favre in Green Bay. The 2005 beat down game which I already mentioned and the 2006 Drew Brees led game which we know the Saints won 34-27. So do any of the stats even matter? I’m not really sure so take from it what you will. Everyone likes to talk smack during this time but what it really comes down to is who wants it more! I know the Saints do! Who Dat!!!

Canal Street Chronicles It's called 8-0 Who Dat's!

Since I was born in 1970...I have been a Saint's fan. I've seen it all, the high the lows. I was there when we beat Dallas on Monday night. Thank you Brett Perriman and Morten Anderson. I was there when we beat the LA Rams in the playoffs in 2000. But this start makes me smile, it brings out a joy I have not known. Thanks you the 2009 Saints for you have made history and you have made me the proudest Saints fan in history. Keep it up and we all will be parting in Miami this year.
